You can play Fallout 4 for 400 hours without seeing everything

Sounds like the normal pre-release Bethesda hype to me. If history is any indication there is a nugget of truth in there, but it is being exaggerated and the final result will be underwhelming.

I played 100 hours of Skyrim. I had the feeling of having seeing 60% of the game.

So I can imagine the game being 200-250 hours, but 400 hours is a bit too much.

You know, if the game content is going to have the usual Bethesda quality, it would be better a game half as big but twice as good. Alas, it's Bethesda....

I'd expect that to be true only after a game has enjoyed several years on the market and a few tens or maybe hundreds of DLCs. That's how I see this industry today. No publisher would agree to ship a game with so much content for one price.

Would love to see them prove me wrong though.

I believe it... i'm still discovering new things in new vegas and skyrim

But that's kind of the point of Bethesda games isn't it. Nothing really noteworthy

Around 6 hours of worthwhile content then?

I will never understand why they market these games like this, all I can think of is "damn I don't want to waste so much time in a game".

I put nearly 590 hours into Skyrim

and I still haven't seen every cave, bandit camp, dungeon, etc.

I am not slow at playing the game, I've put nearly the same amount of time in both Morrowind and Oblivion as well.

So I can believe it when one can spend 400 hours in Fallout 4 and not see everything.

It's anecdotal of course, but it's just personal experience here.

Like, what does that mean exactly? It can be interpreted in so many ways, and most of them are just plain stupid.

Typical pre-order related boasting.

OK, I just hope things are interesting enough. Statements like these don't really do anything for me. It's Fallout, I already know the gameworld is going to overwhelm me regardless.

I'd only believe you if you were actively avoiding new areas for dozens of hours. It's a big map, man, but 600 hours? Come on.

Please do not let it be fetch quests.Ubisoft has killed my open world interest. DAI further buried it.

I did put around 275 hrs on Skyrim. So expectations are high here, Bethesda better deliver :-)

It will no doubt be massive like all of Bethesda's games, but I don't think I will get that many hours out of it. Even though I am sure I will be going back and replaying it over the years.

"See those mountains? You can walk there!"

I want concrete details about the game's mechanics. Anecdotal stuff like this is nothing more than marketing bullshit.

Can't wait for November!

Are people just reading the title and posting? Because there is more interesting info in the article. Legitimate question because I want to know for future reference when making thread titles. I will try to add more information than just the article's title.

Also, how many pages do I have to wait before we can have an actual discussion about this?

Well, you have me beat but barely. :)

So it could be 400 hours of Dragon Age: Inquisition collectathon quests, or it could be 400 hours of Witcher 3 well-written and world building sidequests.

Knowing Bethesda it's probably somewhere in between. Hopefully it's more Witcher Contracts than Portal Closing.

Sounds like there are a bunch of textures to look at.

Wake me when there is 400 hours of content as compelling as that found in a tailored experience.

It is possible because there isn't interesting place to see in the first place. Just copy-pasted caves, vaults, and military bases.

This.

Nah the vaults will be tight AF like they were in the other Bethesda Fallouts. Probably one of the main specific things I'm excited for with this game.
