You no longer are required to perform one bodily function

Let's say you could wake up tomorrow and never have to perform a particular bodily function for the rest of your life. (Eating, sleeping, whatever) What would you want that bodily function to be. Let's give a collary and say that if you WANT to perform that bodily function, you can, but not doing it won't affect your ability to function as what you'd currently call 100%.

Personally, I'd drop sleeping very easily. While a good night's rest feels great and dreams can be interesting, I can't help but think of all the extra hours I'd get if I didn't have to spend about 1/4 of my day unconscious. Granted if the whole world was like that I'd likely have to work more hours to compensate this new lifestyle, but I think it'd overall be worth it, and even more so if this is some magical mutant power made only for me.

Sleeping for sure. I hate the fact that I have to go to sleep at night. I'd be so much more productive if I could just skip that entirely.

Hmm. Sleeping would give me the most time. But I really enjoy sleep anyways.

Eating would save me some time and mostly money!

Or I could do without periods. :/

If it were just for me I'd say sleeping. The time for extra productivity and leisure would be amazing. Plus, I enjoy eating too much. If everyone got this power I choose eating. Fuck starvation. Sun power 4 lyfe.

I think the breathing one wins. I wouldn't have even thought of that, but it's brilliant. I wonder what kinds of implications that would have for your endurance. I mean, would your muscles/blood just auto absorb oxygen? Would CO2 be non-poisionous?

Sleeping is an interesting one. Not sure how this would effect energy levels throughout a typical day, but would you cease begin tired altogether? If so, then wouldn't you stop eating food (regularly) anyway?

Interesting that some would choose sleep.

I think that if there was nothing to break up one day to the next, I think I would start to go crazy. I think my sense of time would be completey lost

Sleep is a healthy escape from the stress of the day.

I would probably choose to get rid of bowel movements myself.

Breathing. I could hang out at the bottom of a clear lake with a hockey mask and scare swimmers. Plus I'd never run out of breath while running.

I feel like not sleeping would drive you crazy somehow. Your life would be the longest day ever. Also if everyone else still needs sleep you would be stuck all alone and that sounds pretty boring.

Breathing is a cool one. It would make swimming underwater pretty cool.

Y'know, if you chose food, wouldn't that also mostly wipe out bowel movements unless you choose to eat? Although I suppose if you enjoy eating you'd wind up with no change if you chose eating, while choosing bowel movements lets you eat what you want and never poop.

"Breathing" is actually a very good answer, and I hadn't considered that. Being able to go underwater freely would be awesome. But you'd still need specific gear for certain depths/temperatures, and going into space isn't exactly feasible, whether you could breathe there or not (and even if you could get there, you'd have to wear a suit anyway to prevent you from freezing).

I'm going to have to go with "sleeping". Getting an extra 7-8 hours every day would be life-changing.

To the people saying sleeping is awesome, that's only because your body needs to sleep. How awesome does the prospect of sleeping seem when you're wide awake and alert in the middle of the day? Imagine feeing like that all the time.

I'd say sleeping if it means feeling wellrested all the time. It not only means I'd gain 7 hours per day, but I'd also perform better on those other hours.

Breathing.

I wanna go underwater, in space, wherever.
Pressure and temperature would make both of those impossible.

Sleeping for sure. I love sleeping and dreaming, but I want that time back. Plus, you said we can choose to do these things whenever we want to so if I want to sleep and dream, I can.

On the breathing thing: pressure isn't the point. It's having to carry air while diving and in space. You'd still wear a suit in space except you wouldn't need the equipment for breathing.

Diving with just a pony bottle to fill your BCD would be awesome.
