Your favorite FPS maps

There's something for every class in Process. Some classes can succeed more than others, but Process is relatively balanced otherwise.

*POUND*... Morpheus Rocket Arena + Low Gravity= SO MUCH FUN!

I will forever have fond memories of running around in that game while holding fire and alt-fire to slowly build up a tight cluster of rockets...usually blowing the hell out of someone but occasionally nicking a wall and killing myself.

It actually got me to go fire up the game, and I don't own the Steam version. Guess I'll have to pay ten bucks or just dig out my discs.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory - Warehouse (half the mode is FPS so it counts!)

And of course Halo CE's Blood Gulch. So many hours spent there.

Good map, just played this at a LAN party recently.

Some of the forge made MLG Halo 3 maps from foundry were also pretty good.

Either or...pretty much every Halo 2, Halo 3, and CoD 4 map has a special place in my heart.

I hope, in the inevitable sequel, they keep this map. (or remix it at least).

The perfect map to show off what Titanfall is.

Amazing.

It really is, the entire layout just works so well with both the Titans and the pilots. If there is ever a map to show someone how to play Titanfall regardless of being in a mech or a pilot - its Angel City.

Halo 2: Turf
H3: The Pit, Guardian
BF3/BF4: Operation Metro
COD 4: Crossfire, Countdown
MW2: Highrise, Terminal

Just a few off top.

Battlefield 1942 - El Alamein

With it's tank middle ground, it's enormous biplane and it's sheet enormity (at the time), this would double up well with MOHAA's tight infantry maps on a multiplayer night with friends.. Oh to be a teenager again.

EDIT: People will shoot me down, no doubt, but I'd love a new WW2 shooter with high numbers, large maps and copious amounts of vehicular, strategic warfare.
Gazala and El Alamein in CTF are still my best memory from bf1942.

And I'd love to have another WW2 shooter of the kind, bf1943 ( as limited in content and scale as it was ) definitly convinced me of how much I still want it.

I'm prepared for all the flame this will bring me but...

As someone who has never played it, can someone explain to me the magic that is Opposing Worlds? It looks just a hair too simple to be an interesting map.

But I love DM-Morpheus the most. My friends and I played that map a lot, usually with instagib turned on. So much low-gravity jumping and low-gravity gibs exploding everywhere.

This was the map in the first demo, and I burned so many hours learning all the ins and outs of this map. So good. I mean, Facing Worlds and the Deck16/17 series of maps ateh obvious follow ups, but Morpheus... sogood.gif

Favorites from a bunch of different games:

CS:S > Office - Played to the games strengths, neither side felt like they had an advantage. So many fond memories.
BF2142 > Sidi Power Plant - Another well balanced map, had areas for both infantry and vehicles to thrive.
COD4 > Strike - So many good maps in COD4, but I probably had the most fun playing HQ on Strike.
TF2> Badwater Basin (PL) - Many, many fond memories. Map felt fair throughout, with teamwork typically winning the day.
BF:BC2 > Arica Harbor - Rarely had a bad game on Arica. One of the few more open BC2 maps, still had plenty of fun close quarters combat.
KZ2 > Salamun Market - Well balanced map with a great mix of interior and exterior combat.
BF3 > Grand Bazaar - One of BF's best urban maps to date.
BF4 > Zavod 311 - Great push/pull map, where flanking feels both possible and rewarding.
Titanfall > Overlook - A great asymmetrical map, with plenty of wallrunning opportunities and enough space for Titans to do work.

HL2: Deathmatch killcubes for the chaos.

TFC - Well for the nonstop sentry and sniper management

Marathon 2 - Kill the Man with the Ball Map for the high risk/reward

Halo's Silent Cartographer

The mission in Halo: Reach where start the assult in a unit of warthogs and your team gets anihilated right at the start.

Most of the classics have been covered so I'm going to suggest one which isn't quite so well known:

Standoff - Halo 3, Heroic Map Pack.

I've been playing tons of custom single-player maps built for Quake in 1996/1997. Beyond Belief's a given, very enjoyable and profoundly close in spirit with maps from Willits and Romero, but the other episodes have been fun too, like Dario Casali's Prodigy SE and Marcus Dromowicz/mexx's Penumbra of Domination.

Also, I haven't sunk into Rubicon Rumble Pack yet, but holy shit...

Recent Quake maps/episodes/mods/projects might drive me insane with their complexity and scale. Good thing I have a source port good enough to run this beast!

Still my favourite QW map was HIPDM1 the first ever void map..all the Best Power ups were exposed RocketJumping TeleFragging..just glorious. The balance of the Empathy shield vs Quad Damage was so much fun.

Payday - Counterfeit

It's more a cooperative horde mode map, but yeah, Counterfeit was just ridiculously fun despite how simplistic the objective is. The houses were generally safe, but stepping outside makes you a prime target for snipers and special cops.

For as many more hours as I put into Payday 2 than Payday 1, I do miss the general flow and control you had over the levels. In many of Payday 2's levels it feels like you are exposed from every single angle with super accurate cops hitting you from the tiniest crack. Hoxton Breakout Day 2 was a good return to form in terms of feeling like the old Payday 1 maps.

I didn't find it amazing for single-player as the secret map in Scourge of Armagon, but I bet DM's a dream. Lotsa dodgin' Shamblers!

I'm going to put my Quake odyssey on hold for the moment just knowing I'm addicted. Map quality only improves substantially after 1997, it seems; people would be surprised how many top-grade industry level designers use Quake to practice their skills.
