This is a tough poll to answer.

+1 for Remake deserving a place in the poll.

1 was a solid game, but was surpassed to the point that it feels so different when you go back to it.

2 is instantly in the running for being what it is, it's the game I grew up on and is still so playable now. My favourite soundtrack of any game, and EASILY the best ending music I've ever heard. It says everything without a word.

3 is one of those sequels that was a mixed bag. Some improvements, some things lost, but overall a quality game. I wouldn't have even known it existed as a kid unless I saw a magazine with it in. I need to play BK3 again, the Western version cuts and changes so much! Poor Ash. I'm pretty sure the Steam Workshop has that as a downloadable.

Remake is a love letter of the highest standard. 10 years in the making with permission from Sega the whole way until Sega realised what an amazing job unpaid fans did and C&D'd it. If you haven't played it, play it. Customisation for everything you could want, more unlockables than you could ever expect, and to include everything from the previous games and then expand upon that with route changing and extra stages is an incredible achievement. Possibly the best fan game ever made, without hyperbole.

4 is a surprise. The initial reveal made it look like an awful cash in that retained nothing of the series, but it turned out to be brilliant. It needs some patches on all systems, and it's not a perfect game by any means, but it adds things to the gameplay that you can't go back from. If there's a 5, I'm comfortable knowing they're only going to make it better than 4.

Only official games!

I did Shiva & Shiva trilogy (fan game sor spinoff) too, there's too many fangames.

I know Sorr is good and has lots of content, but the originals still plays better, its not identical.

Just for curiosity, what sor4 needs to be added on gameplay? Patch for what? (Xbox version that needs a patch)

In its current state, it just needs some refinement. A few cheap enemies with no start up frames for moves, like taser cops. Super armour is a bit OP on enemies at times. Minor tweaks, really.

By things added I mean things like the way combos work and the juggles. They add something extra over the original formula and they won't take that away now, which is a good thing.

The official Discord has lists of known bugs per platform, but the first one that comes to mind on PC is online frame rates being awful.

I've never heard of Shiva & Shiva is it any good? I think the only reason Remake gets mentioned is its outstanding quality.

I did some openbor games, Shiva & Lisa trilogy, Jennifer...

Jennifer still #1 most downloaded game on the engine site (chronocrash.com), for 6 years in a row, even more than the engine itself.

My S&L trilogy, the first two games are fun but i was starting... On the third and Jennifer i added my own codes on the opensource engine to go beyond...

Fps is crap on the videos, but both runs at 60fps.
Lavalit was the old official engine page, now is Chronocrash.

For the same reason you wouldn't include fan made content in a lot of the best movies in a franchise.

Because they suck?

Streets of Rage Remake is the culmination and perfection of all three SoR games.

It is arguiably the best Streets of Rage. Who cares if its fanmade?

No matter how good it is, it's non-canon.

I prefer AM2R to Metroid: Samus Returns by a mile, but it's still not official.

I enjoyed 4 but the music was bad. I didn't use the original sound track as I wanted to give the new music a chance and it was shit except for track.

the bosses were fucking garbage in 4 apart from beast max.

the game also catered to the sjw crowd, whic must have riled up the anti sjw crowd 😂

2 is the best but I prefer 1 as I think it's harder.

But it's not. It has a bunch of content from all spliced into one (and the original content included is garbage) but it doesn't feel anywhere near as tight as the official games. Don't fool yourself.

Lmao Ive been playing SoR since the megadrive came out, its the definitive experience since you can choose which levels you want to play and it gives you options to disable anything you dont like.

Want to play SoR1 levels? You can
Want to play Sor2 levels? You can
Want to play SoR3 levels? You can
Want to play an entirely new route? You can

Want to disable running and rolling? You can

So tell me please in what way it's not in every way superior to the official releases 🤷🏼‍♂️

Lmao "the original content is garbage". aClearly a dumb troll.

Honestly I liked the visual style quite a bit, but shit like this doesn't fit the series at all:
