Your most prized exotic gaming possessions

This thing:

Wow. I might aswell just throw my edition of Ico in the fire. I can't contend against that!! That is an insane bundle. HOW!?

What's the story behind this?

Also Marty, the Elemental Gearbolt case was limited to 40, not 50. Still an incredibly rare piece.

Are you sure? Where did you get the 40 figure from. Heh small bit of random trivia, but I'm the one who sold the Guncons to Working Designs. I sold them 50 for this purpose. So I assumed every one got used.

Not at home to take pics of mine but probably my Nintendo Crystal screen Game and Watch games?

and these?

edit: Now that I think about it, why doesn't Nintendo revive Climber? Could work great as a WiiWare game.

Mr. Ireland, that is an unreasonably awesome collection of bizarre swag. I would do some unsavory things for one of those Silhouette Mirage plushes!

This is probably the most exotic recent addition to my collection:

Is that you? :)

That being said, I wouldn't mind having one of those Power Drift machines! I remember the attract sequence like it was yesterday...

Yes, left. :)
I dumped many a coin into that Power Drift cab as well.

Few more of my things:

Currently in my basement:

But it's probably not even 1/4 of my collection. I have a bunch more in my garage, some at my parent's home, and some at my friends' homes. It's a disease, I tell ya!

I also have stacks of boxes of boxed games (not all pictured). I also have all the NA released AES carts too (not all pictured).

I guess it's not all exotic, but taken as a whole it's pretty rare to find it all together.

Hnnnnngggggghhhhh, so much win...Love the dark lighting too.

If only basements were popular in Japan...

It was 50. Maybe he's talking about the "complete" sets that had gold everything instead of the red memory card. Even then, I'm not sure 100% if it was 35 or 40, so I don't know how they can be.

- stainless steel replica Halo plasma sword. Weighty, could actually inflict serious damage (technically not mine, i bought it for my wife)

- custom videogame art created by ArcadeArtist

- Dodonpachi DOJ and Mushihimesama framed signed original prints.

That information is off. There's no mention of the red card versions vs the full gold sets, and the prices are off. I know for a fact the last one sold on the open market fetched $3000 because it was the WD sales manager who sold hers for that on ebay. The one before that was in the $2500 range, so $1750 for an upper limit is like 8 years out of date.

i was discussing this a while back with a collector from outside of GAF and he had a list of the original recipients (not quite complete) that he'd collated and had been tracking (or trying to track) where each of the units went.

Also Racketboy's site is fantastic, but yes - unfortunately some of the details (especially worth) haven't been updated in a long long time. A great resource for anyone starting off into retro collecting or anyone looking for anything they might have missed.

Rare games? Probably Persona: Revelations, SMT III Nocturne's 'Director's Cut'(not really, just has an OST), and the Growlanser Generations LE.

Also the Tokimeki Memorial (Saturn) Limited Edition.

I'm really thinking hard about adding an AC/DC game. First Stern since Spiderman I would actually put money out for.

But it's soooooo ugly.

Having that mug stare back at me all the time would just turn me off of it. Kinda funny the super expensive LE version of it gets rid of most of the Angus face and puts a lower mini play field.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't consider the regular version. The LE/Premium with the cutout is the only one I'd consider. Here's a whiteboard version of the cutout one:

Actually the rest of the machine (cabinet, backbox, etc) looks pretty good.

I had a Charles Martinet signed copy of Mario Sunshine on GC my mum threw away, but i might still have a signed Charles Martinet Nintendo Official Magazine. . i also have a Kojima signed MGS4 sleeve

Nothing extremely rare, but I think these are quite hard to find now at a decent price.

I have an Asteroids arcade cabinet in good condition.

Out of curiosity, what style of coin door do you have? Are your coin slots the round ones where you put the coin in face/back forward rather than on edge? That's the kind I have on my Asteroids, and several collectors have offered to buy it from me.

The object itself isn't really gaming-related, but I guess mine would be this Vampire Hunter D art book signed by Yoshitaka Amano. I would have had him sign something Final Fantasy-related too, but it was kind of last minute.

Not exactly rare, but I modded a couple gameboys with back lights, and the one on the right has a switch and a dial that varies the clock speed (useful with music stuff).

Nothing too exciting but they aren't exactly things you find in every gamer's collection and I did make one of them so that's at least unique.

That's a nice looking candy. I have a couple right now, but they need a repaint. I'm going to strip them and repaint them as soon as it warms back up.

Mother of God. Is that an Addams Family machine I see? Out of all the pinball machines I've played, that one is by far my favorite. Kinda makes me wish for the old arcade on the pier near where I lived when I was younger, it was filled with awesome arcade machines and pinball tables. Many a day spent in there!

Holy crap, I thought I was the only Adam's Family pinball freak. I really could give a toss about pinball but I remember this Adam's Family machine was at local bowling alley and I recall destroying it as a kid. It is the only pinball machine I would ever consider owning.

Well, for what it's worth...I also still have mine. Haven't looked at it in a while, not sure if I have the gold memory card vs. the red (I think so, though)...

goddamn, Jeff and Vic owning this thread.

for me, i think it's either the nintendo power LTTP comic TPB, or the scratch & sniff NOA sent if you won the promo ad thing for Earthbound, i love those. oh yeah, my non-prototype Ghaleon Lunar 2 punchy-doll as well!
seriously vic, Lunar 1/2 were 90% of why i owned a Sega-CD, you really did make one of the best LE items for one of the best villains ever there
