The Most Dangerous Yes Man
-----------

UPDATE

Updated New Version Out: YouTube Me! Again

Lets you switch video size and dimensions quickly, also should work on Opera.

-----------

Q: What the hell are you talking about in the title?

A: Transform basic YouTube URLs into YouTube videos within posts.

Q: Examples?

A: Embedded YouTube video in post.

Version 1 will automatically do this for all YouTube links.

Version 2 will display "Play Now" link, then embeds video only when clicked. (Reduces load time)

Q: Where can I get it?

A: First get Greasemonkey if you're using Firefox.

Select from either of these two versions, smaller size make YouTube videos fit the screen better on smaller resolutions.

Version 1: [ Large Size Version | Smaller Size Version ]

Version 2: [ Large Size Version | Smaller Size Version ]

New Version: YouTube Me! Again

Once there, press the Install button and click Okay. Refresh this page for scripts to take action.

You can also use Opera or other browsers that support custom scripts.

Notes:

  • Only enable one script at a time.
  • Right click on Greasemonkey and check only one.
  • If there are new updates, please uninstall your current one first by going to the Greasemonkey's "Manage User Scripts".
  • After doing this, then install the new one.

*** *** ***

When installed, an embedded video or link appears: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWLuqly6uCQ

omg i understand now. nice add-on i can see it being really popular.

unfortunate i dont have greasemonkey because i like to keep extensions and add-onds to minimum, mostly because firefox runs like a donkey now :/

Ha, I didn't understand at first, but now I do! Pretty neat-o! The only thing is that it embeds them too big, but that issue can be easily resolved right?

Woohoo! Thank you! <3

EDIT:

So much better! :D :D
I think it depends on what kind of resolution you have, I prefer the larger one :]

This is sweet. Could you add an option to stream the high quality stream by default if available instead of the low quality flv stream?

I think youtube killed the HQ on embeds button but I'll look into it tomorrow.

Bug Found:
If quoting post with a youtube url, the video will be posted in the original post twice. Will fix this tomorrow.

Haha, yeah. The smaller resolution works best for my laptop! Thank you.

Neat, but it managed to kill Xine and all audio under ubuntu when I visited a link heavy page on the gaming side. Maybe related to the multiple occurences bug?

any chance of this making youtube region free??

sometimes I click a link and it tells me its not available in my region... WTF I hate youtube!!!!

Very awesome. This should be suggested as a way to view embeds in the rules and guidelines sticky just for those people who keep asking for it.

This is cool. Only problem is when someone has a YouTube link in their tag (example). Don't know if there's anything you can do about that though.

Hopefully the bug is fixed tomorrow!

Another potential thing to work around: If someone's tag is a YouTube link, their avatar space gets blown huge with the video. Teknoman is an example.

Edit: beaten!

Nice, I wish Evillore would do a site update to make this a standard option for everyone from "trusted" video sites.

I suggested this years ago and got me tag ;)

EDIT: Where do I add the code to make it HQ by default?

Also can we have this for other trusted video sites.
(I guess I'll keep grabbing the updated versions of the scripts.)

I don't think it should be standard, but it's a nice option to give people.

Don't know whether you've already done that, but advice: Make the video not exceed the size of the div it's in.

Also, only convert youtube links if they're in a div called "post_message_XXXXXX" for NeoGAF. That's where post messages go. Or in the table cell called "td_post_XXXXXX".
Would also lead to youtube videos not showing up in reply mode, which makes sense.

I'm conflicted.

On the one hand this is awesome, on the other hand I don't like how youtube vids are embedded cause you have to stay on the same page (if you're on a forum) to keep listening or seeing the vid.

Still, great script. :)

Hopefully this can be fixed, otherwise I'll have to block everyone with a YouTube link in their tag... :lol

There's an add-on for firefox called AutoPager that loads extra pages of a article/forum/thread/etc. within the current page. Wouldn't help when you want to navigate away from the thread, though.

Uh... tabs?!

Yeah, and it's easier to just open a youtube link in a new tab, than have it embedded on a page that you want to continue reading, scroll through or go to the next page.

So while it's an awesome script, I'll disable it. Also because of the tag thing someone mentioned earlier.

Tools -> GreaseMonkey -> Manage Scripts -> select NeoGAF YouTube Me -> click the Edit button (select WordPad or TextEdit if it asks you for an app to edit the script in) -> Ctrl-F or Cmd-F -> search for &fs=1 -> add the following (right after &fs=1): &hd=1 -> search for the second &fs=1 and add &hd=1 to it -> save the file and close it
