And I just tried it and it doesn't seem to work with this version, anyway.

Thanks for the heads-up Aeana. This will sit on my HD until a translation patch becomes available. And probably longer. Like all other promotional games. I only wish there was STEAM integration so I could look at it in a list with all the other games I buy and don't play.

If I had to guess, it's because it's trying to install it at C:\FALCOM. If you're using Windows 7, that's a problem if you're not running it as administrator.

Is that file actually missing? Try renaming the folder to get rid of イースオリジン, it could be causing problems.

My Ys Origin / イースオリジン folder is 1.75 Go, 69 files.

I can try setting the desktop to japanese instead of using applocal but my guess is that it's a glitch with vista.

Yeah, you must be missing some stuff. I got 1.85 GB, 78 files, 8 folders. Of course, I'm running Win 7 (64-bit).

Stay away from that website. That guy's done BIG nonos for fan translations. He actually charged for his fan translations, as has held a grudge since someone posted his Oath in Felghana release for all to download. He's held it for years.

He never charged for his fan translations. He asked for donations to help get one of his projects finished, and promised early beta's of his translation patch to anyone who donated, no matter the amount. The plan was to release the translation for free when it was done, but when one of the donators then released the beta version of the patch under their own name, that really made the guy flip is lid and he went utterly nuts for a few years.

He's actually very skilled, and was the first one to release English patches for the Ys 1&2 PC remakes, as well as the first one to make the Oath in Felghana English patch.

I think I'm going to make a torrent for the file, which you can then use to make sure your file is complete and finish it if it isn't, and hopefully that will also help others. Unfortunately, my connection isn't great, but... it's the only thing I can think of, since none of the file uploading sites allow 1.6GB files.

For future reference, or for anybody who cares, if you go into the game's folder and rename the AVI files, they won't play. I always rename them because they are long/boring.

I see you found the translated image for the first page.

The second page is gamepad setup... I don't have an image for that, but you really only need concern yourself with the buttons on the side, which read from top to bottom:

Attack/OK
Jump/Cancel
Skill
Activate boost
Menu
Run/walk toggle
Mouse cursor (ignore this one)
Switch skill left
Switch skill right
Select skill 1
Select skill 2
Select skill 3

The buttons on the right are for assigning movement keys, but if you're using a gamepad with analog, you don't need to worry about that.

I thought about that, but it's a lot of trouble and I'm actually really against spreading this file after the promotion has ended. I don't think their intention was to have a free copy of this game available forever.

Yeah I agree about the promotion ending. I was just wondering this because at the speed I am seeding it I don't think someone will end up getting a full download from the torrent.
