This seems like the kind of movie that will either be great fun, or suck horribly. No middle ground.
My money is on "suck horribly."

But I despise almost everything about Zack Snyder's directorial style, so I'm a bit biased.

Yay Bjork remix!

I wish I drank with Jamie Chung more often when we were in college. =(

You went to UCR too? I wish I was a few years older. My bro knew her in college. Why couldn't that have been me.

I hung out with her a few times before she left for Real World. We have some mutual friends but I never really made the effort to cross the gap.

I still have a little faith left in Snyder (Dawn of the Dead was surprisingly good), so I might give this a shot if it gets a decent response from folks.

And re: the entire main cast. Would.

I don't get the hate. Dawn of the Dead and 300 were so well received, yet it seems everyone suddenly hated him because of Watchmen

Gawd, Emily Browning looks hot as hell.

Her imdb says she is doing an "erotic" version of Sleeping Beauty, too. Hopefully she has this blonde hair and skimpy outfit in it...

I'm sorry, but if your movie description calls it a "haunting erotic tale", it better have some fucking Emily Browning nudity. There is no excuse.

Centers on a student who falls into the world of prostitution. She finds herself catering to a specialized group of clients in a "Sleeping Beauty chamber" where she sleeps, drugged, unable to resist or remember what men do to her there. Where the eroticism or fairy tale factors in is a mystery. But considering Leigh's script was on the 2008 Black List, there has to be a lot more than exploitation to it.

The drugged part is a bit wtf....but its an independent movie so consider me hyped.

An old friend of my was friends with Browning, as they both went to the same high school.

But that's Australia. We all know each other *cough*.

This sounds awesome.

wtf is Emily Browning doomed to edgy versions of classic children's stories? First Alice in Wonderland and now Sleeping Beauty. Normally seeing somebody typecast is a bit annoying, but in this case....I'll let it through.

Alice in Wonderland?

I really don't care how terrible this movie is. It's a small price to pay to watch Emily Browning fight monsters and giant robots in fetish clothing.

This x1000. I don't know what people are worried about. It's going to have gorgeous girls blowing shit up. The whole thing could be a thinly veiled tea-party recruitment film and I'd still love it.

Kinda wish Emily Browning still had the brown hair, but dose legs...

Lemony Snicket is edgy?

So true, although I'll love it for Jamie Chung

Im going to touch myself every time Browning is on screen. There will be no shame and it will be glorious.

Pretty much the only reason I'm interested in this.

Okay, also Scott Glenn who should get more work and is slumming it with Snyder.

300 was well received, but a lot of people hated the slowmo. Then they were pissed it showed up in Watchmen, and now Snyder is "the slowmo guy we all hate".

I don't get it either. But then I like the slowmo stuff. I'm largely taking a chance on seeing this because it's a Snyder film.

Screw story, this has all the mindless action I need to kick off the spring, i'm in.
yes what you said. I will watch battle los angeles (and enjoy it) for similar reasons.

It's generally because it's like watching an action movie -- ON THE MOON!

Snyder is very ham fisted with his use of film speed monkeying. John Woo, The Wachowskis Bros., Guy Ritchie, and several other contemporary movie makers do it tastefully to emphasize / compliment the action without reducing the impact.

Also since Snyder films so much on green screen a lot of the beauty of massive fight choreography is lost.

I find green screen movie / tv more annoying and sterile than CGI effects in the place of stunt men and practical special effects. :|

I did enjoy Dawn of the Dead (remake), but 300 was awful. Awful. AWFUL. 30 minute read padded out to 90+ minutes. :\

You could counter with "But that was a comic." The problem for me is it speaks to Snyder's lack of comprehension of the passage of time in comic books (Understanding Comics is a good place to start). Robert Rodriguez did a painfully faithful adaptation of THREE volumes of Sin City, but managed to keep it entertaining and in some cases I enjoyed the movie more than certain stories. 300 would have been a fine vignette or TV movie that ran 45 minutes sans commercials. Partially Miller's source material sucking, and partially Snyder sucking IMO.

I love the slow-mo. I love his style. If you don't like his style you don't have to go see his movies.

I guess I just don't get haters in general. If you don't like something then get the fuck out of my business telling me it sucks when it's really just an opinion that no one cares to hear about.

There's already cosplay. (They work fast)

People didn't like Watchmen? Shit I love both the comic and the movie. Some of Malin Akerman's dialogue was hammy , but I thought it was otherwise a faithful adaption.

A I'm really looking forward to Sucker Punch. I can't wait for it! Been excited since trailers last year.

The good thing about having a High School Musical-loving girlfriend is that she'll want to go see SuckerPunch for Hudgens. Thus, I can pretend to be shattered at being dragged along to the cinema, all the while internally loving it. Fuck yeah!

Waaaait why would you need to be pretending you're being dragged along? It's a pure action movie about gun-toting sword-swinging amazingly hot women wearing skimpy outfits. 100% guy movie.

There's very little I hate more in this life than the Watchmen movie but I am dead excited for this.

you guys are lttp on Emily Browning, she's been quality since Lemony Snicket.
I have already lodged my response to this
I've thought she was cute since Series of Unfortunate Events and she was hot in The Uninvited. Here she looks amazing.
So yeah, she's been good-looking for a long time. But the short skirts and pig tails up it to another level.

Because he cant make it obvious that he wants to watch hot girls fighting

A wierd ~3 minute animated short was posted on Apples Sucker Punch website

http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/wb/suckerpunch/

THE TRENCHES: In Sucker Punch, the girls face off against an army of mechanized WWI soldiers. Through the use of clockwork and steam technology, human soldiers who die in battle are reanimated and sent back to the front lines. Although seemingly indistinguishable and soulless, the zombie army is not just made of gears and steam, but also of human flesh, bone, and memory. In "The Trenches" there is a tragic tale behind each lifeless mask.
