I watched this movie a few months ago on Demand (not sure if it was the directors cut or not) and I absolutely loved it. It stayed with me for a good while. I will be buying this on blu ray soon.

Wtf? You could tell the entire movie in 5 minutes?

The action set pieces are amazing. I say it's worth it.

The beginning of the movie is easily the best part of it, so maybe he did good? :P I thought the action in this movie was distant and disinterested. I couldn't muster any excitement or concern for the characters.

Started watching this, got about 5 minutes into it before I couldn't continue. The slow motion door slamming for no reason, the over the top music selection, the way things were being told was in the most obvious way possible, etc. I just found it really boring within that time. The visuals are beautiful and Snyder really knows how to put pretty images up but it's suuuuch a drag to sit through. Does the movie get better? I mean I can turn my mind off for some action movies but is it worth it for this one?
You're doing it wrong. It's a different kind of movie in a lot of ways. And the scene you're talking about lasts only until the name of the movie appears on the screen.

Me and my friends saw the movie again and for the life of me I just don't understand what Snyder's was trying to say with this movie. We enjoy the action the girls and the music, But we don't get it.

By the way I after seeing the extended cut of the movie the MPAA should be terminate with extreme prejudice. They don't know what the hell they are doing.

This move is basically one music video after another. Couldn't stand Vanessa Hudgens in it. She came off as very annoying.

I felt the ending didn't explain much or have a certain conflict resolved. The step dad came off as being a antagonist but it appears he just gets off free and will apparently inherit the fortunes of babydoll's mother.

The step dad doesn't get away with it, Blue rats him out at the end.

I don't know why most people can't like/understand the movie. I finally go around to watching it after 2 of my friends told me it wasn't great and when I saw it i could see why. It's one of those movies you need to open your mind to and understand the story very carefully. The action is there to represent there feelings and the way then handled things inside where they felt they had no control. Great movie I honestly wound't even recommend the movie to someone who wants to see a action flick.
No, I think 99% of the people who watch this get that. It's spelled out more than once. And I was excited for the movie and had a very open mind. It still sucks.

Just finished it.

I enjoyed it. It certainly seemed like something Snyder wanted to get out of him and something that he had a lot of fun making. It really screamed passion project that was motivated by attempting to please purely himself and nobody else.

Certainly could have used another draft - especially since the ending fell flat.

Action sequences were great as always. Glad to see him go balls out. I'm not sure if I want to say that I wish some sequences had more time in post, or whether they fit the visual mould the film had created. Sometimes you had incredible detail going into the set and prop design, only to then get some really cheap, throwaway CG that would clash (bullet shells).

I liked the idea of the film. I ended up liking the characters too (except for Blondie, I hardly even noticed she was in the film until her betrayal). I do admit I would have preferred if Snyder had done away with the pretext to enter the fantasies and just done a full blown HEAVY METAL fantasy epic.

Because that's what this film was. This film was Heavy Metal, with Snyder looking for an intelligent way to frame the segments and only getting about halfway there.

During many of the action sequences (especially the first which had Baby Doll sliding back through the cobblestones) I got incredibly excited for Man of Steel.

I'm interested to see what was added in the Director's Cut and would watch the film again, but I won't be buying it.
yessssssssssss.

I saw it a few months ago via Redbox... Wasn't awful. I thought it was interesting, at the very least.

No award winning performances, but it was entertaining IMO.

Just finished the movie on Cinemax... What a horrible, horrible, horrible film. Everything felt so shallow and unnecessary. The characters were ALL annoying and whiny. While the centerpiece of the film was the action - which just seems like one slow motion shot after another in addition to being poorly choreographed. Nobody seemed to know what the hell they were doing and the movie tries so fucking hard to tie everything together.

In short, bitches crying, slow motion upskirt shots surrounded by irrelevant action sequences. Snyder should be banned from writing anything ever again.

I took it as a entertaining popcorn flick/music video.

The story and character progressions are pretty much non-existent. I agree with the person who said 'passion project' - you could really tell.

Its a little like MI:GP for me. That movie has very little character progression, but it does work on some story level because what is happening is really happening.

This has neither.

I so wanted her to learn from her delusional stupor - the exact way to get out and exact revenge.

Saw the movie on Cinemax and it's much better than the first time because I was smart enough not to keep track of the story which is definitely one of the worst in recent memory.

The fight choreography is quite nice & I like Snyder's directing style.

I realize this is a circle jerk thread, but if we're all sharing opinions, easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

If someone told me before there would be
an elaborate action scene of scantily clad women battling steampunk-esque nazi zombies with mechs and modern weaponry
. I would have said that it is the greatest thing ever, and then regret myself after.

Crazy coincidence that this thread popped up again as I re watched the movie while cleaning (was on tv).

Still pretty awful. The film just had no personality whatsoever. I really liked Snyder but haven't been too impressed outside Dawn of the Dead and 300.

Watchmen (Director's Cut) is pretty awesome.

What was the extended version like?
The second action sequence, specifically in the courtyard of the castle, has a good amount more action in it. Honestly though, it doesn't do much for me. However, the musical number between Gorski and Blue is great, and I love the near-final scene with John Hamm.

Yeah, I recognize that its a well-made film based on the source material but I felt bored watching it (maybe because I had literally just read the GN a day or two before.) Rorsachs stuff was great though.

Haven't seen the directors cut.

Watched this a few weeks ago..

Cons: Probably Snyder's worst and just a bad movie overall. The underlying plot is interesting, but the execution is just terrible. Haven't seen a movie with such cringeworthy acting in awhile.

Not to mention the ridiculous amount of Slo-mo used. I hit the rofl-breaking point when there was slo motion crying in one of the more emotional scenes of the flic.

Pros: Emily Browning and the video-gamey action scenes

Enjoyable movie for what it is. I was a bit upset at first that I was sitting there and watching it, as the trailer made it an instant pass. I think the film knows what it is, and gives you what you'd expect from it. Expecting something else just can't be done with the content.

Fun action. Cute girls. Some incredible visuals.

Also liked Legends of the guardians. His work is just fun. I think it balances the rest of hollywood movies out quite well.

I love me some Emily Browning.

I loved all of previous snyder works except that owl film and i even thought it had it moments..
but i will say it again this is one of the most boring movies of last year...I didnt expected any story and actin but i expected a lot of well entertaining action sequences.and was most hyped for dragon one..but all the way it felt really boring. The train fight was the only thing good to come out of the movie

The girl who played...er, Rocket, was pretty damn cute.
Yeah she was one of the better actors involved. She was quite sexy firing that rifle :) Her death was one of the worst directed scenes I have ever witnessed. Plus her name was rocket... come on.

Rocket can rocket my rocket if you know what I mean

the fantasy sequences were good....the action was nicely choreographed and wasn't overly burdened by slo-mo as much as I was fearing. But that's the only good thing I can say about this movie.

Didn't make it past 30 minutes.

I've never watched anything quite so hollow in its contrived sense of symbollism and fuck-awful 'vidya gaem' try-hard aesthetics.

Don't quit you fucking day-job Snyder.

Probably one of my fave movies of 2011. The music, cinematography and action scenes were excellent. Really dont get why everyone hates it, i thought it was amazing.

BUMP!
I just saw this for the second time and have a new opinion about it. The first time I went in expecting mindless fun and eye candy and was disappointed. It was the theatrical version and afterwards I saw the deleted scenes online and let the film stew in my mind for a while. Then on second viewing it was much more enjoyable. The darkness of the film is kind of insidious and I can see why it is so polarizing. My second viewing was with my wife , her first time and she loved it (granted I did describe the deleted High Roller scene to her). This film gets a bad rap, I thought it was entertaining, not mysogynisitc, but a commentary on coping with abuse (including rape). It is ridiculous that they made it pg-13. If they went for a hard R, it would have been a much better film, I think. More clearly showing the brutality of the "real asylum" vs the escape fantasies would have made for a clearer, albeit more uncomfortable viewing experience.
Plus the soundtrack is amazing.

I just rewatched Dawn of the Dead and whilst it has some good moments, overall it wasn't as good as I remembered and makes me slightly more worried about Man of Steel when it comes out. I would love it to be good, and feel that Snyder has some talent (shown by most of 300 and many moments in Watchmen), but lets be honest Sucker Punch wasn't very good, it had too much of a reliance on music that wasn't scored specially for the movie, ended up more like an expensive music video.
