Zelda : A Link Between Worlds 3DS XL confirmed for NA (Nov. 22nd)

Just a quick question:
Are we getting the limited edition game Zelda: ALBW set with the cute chest?
I kinda want to preorder that.

Best Buy in Canada has that chest as a pre-order bonus for the regular version of the game, dunno if it's coming to the US though

It's only a few weeks out, and I feel like we still know pretty much nothing about the game.

I know, we know about the basic plot, basic world outline and weapon system...but other than that? I still think there may well be a link to Majora's Mask somewhere...

Does Best Buy have free shipping? I'm gonna switch my order to them when it goes up because of their return policy.

At least in Canada, for all orders over $20 there's free shipping. If it's anything like Futureshop, which it is since they're essentially one and the same here in Canada, they ship incredibly fast too. I usually receive my shipment within two days or so.

I checked their site and they have a free shipping over $25.

On orders $25 and upExcludes select Best Buy Marketplace items, scheduled delivery items and items displaying "In Store Only" message. Select digital downloads,
e-gift cards, Best Buy Marketplace items, scheduled delivery items, CinemaNow digital content, and items purchased from the classical musical store do not count toward the $25 order total. If an item cancellation or coupon lowers the total purchase price to less than $25, you will be charged for the shipping cost of the remaining items.

Can't justify spending $220 for a 3DS that does exactly the same thing my original launch day black 3DS does already. How do you guys do it? I want to, but would probably be afraid to play it and end up selling it without ever opening it.

I'm thinking of getting this as my first 3DS. What's the GAF consensus on the 3DS vs. the 3DS XL?

I remember hearing some early talk about how the XL looked worse on account of having the same number of pixels on a larger screen, resulting in games looking blurry. But then others have said the larger screen looks better. There's not much point in buying the larger and more expensive handheld if it doesn't actually look any better.

What about portability? Does the added bulk make the XL inconvenient to carry and/or use?

3DS XL has:

+ Bigger Screens
+ Better D Pad
+ Better Ergonomics
+ Better Battery Life
+ Comes with 4GB SD card as opposed to the 3DS original's 2GB

- Lower PPI due to larger screen size
- Speakers aren't as good due to the rectangular size
- Doesn't come with an AC adapter/Charger in Japan, Australia, UK or Europe.

3D is totally dependent on the user. For me, I'd never, ever go back to an original 3DS.

I. AM. SOOOOO. HYPED!

Paid off mine in full today. Can't wait to finally have a 3DS after buying random 3DS games that went on sale or were going out of print for the past year.

do whatever you wish with your console, mate. About justifying the purchase, I just resell old systems and get back 80% of the money I spent, which goes directly into the next purchase - or, in the case of the 3DS, almost directly since you've got to transfer your data first - . Problem solved

Then don't buy one. Problem solved.

Yeah, as for the 3DS vs. 3DS XL decision, about the only reason to get the original is better 3D and PPI. Personally, I play with the 3D switched off 99% of the time, so for me, there's no reason to have an original. It looks/feels like a beta piece of hardware compared to the XL. Buttons are squishy, and the Select/Home/Start 'buttons' are a joke.

Back on-topic, I kinda wish I'd waited for this (I have the blue XL)... the Zelda treatment looks great!

Just for anybody on the fence, my Gamestop when I went to preorder already had 15+ preorders. The employee there told me that they would likely close preorders for that store tomorrow. SOooo if you want one, preorder fast!

I guess this is as good a place to ask as any.
I'm looking to upgrade from a 3DS to an XL. I think I'm going to opt for the red one. Are there any deals or sales out there? Anything to knock it down a little from that $200 price point?

There will be on Black Friday, for sure. Wait until then.

If not then, there will be on Cyber Monday.

If not then, then no.

I see a few people talking about buying the system and selling "the code."

The recent special edition Hardware/Software 3DS bundles have all come with a pre-installed game on the provided SD card. The only way to give the game away is to do a system merge with another local 3DS or 3DS XL. If you don't do the system transfer/merge, the game is locked to the 3DS hardware and unable to be downloaded from any system but the one it originally came on.

just a heads up.

Yeah the lack of a GameStopmsale in their leaked ad was upsetting. (was even hoping to maybe see a Wii U deal too but I digress)

Ugh so I'm screwed if I want to transfer over the stuff from my old 3DS onto the new one? Basically forced to get the game digitally?

But the guy below me says otherwise. So confused now.

Wrong!

On the same day, a new Nintendo 3DS XL bundle will launch that includes Nintendo 3DS XL hardware with gorgeous gold-and-black coloring and the iconic Triforce on the exterior, as well as a download code for The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

Turns out I was wrong. In the past, both the Animal crossing and the Mario Kart holiday bundles had the actual download already on it, and the zelda model comes with a code. I thought I had read otherwise. You actually can install it on a seperate model.

Also, just for clarification sake, you can transfer from one 3DS to another all the licenses on it. When I got my XL with MarioKart on it, I moved my old Aqua 3DS's contents over, including ambassador status, games, etc., with no issue. The only catch is that you have a maximum 3x to do file transfers before it prohibits you from moving them again (at least thats what it told me last december).

Sorry for the false alarm! :X

Pre-ordered in store as well.
Well I see the first Zelda 3DS (the black with gold filigree) selling for about $600 on ebay, so I would say yes.
What? They don't sell for that high.

You'll get odd the odd auction to end for $500 for sealed Euro version, but sealed NA versions are 350-450.
Much less for used systems.

that's still 2x what you paid for the system though

Ah my bad I was only looking at some pending auctions. You're right looks like brand new ones are going for about 400-450.
