Zelda Art Thread

The Zelda art that was posted here and in the other thread is now all over the internet and on articles online. Also Zelda is the most searched topic today on yahoo.

That art makes Zelda seem like more than it is. But then you realize you hardly get a sense of any such story or deeper characters when you actually play the games. Well, most of them. But Zelda isn't a story & character kinda game anyway. So... the picture is both amazing and kind of annoying for making me think about this.

And Nintendo continues not to give a fuck :(

It's funny because I agree in a sense...

but then scenes like this occur:

and sometimes the simplicity of it all is enough.
I can't watching the above scene and not shed a tear or two.

I think Zelda stories are pretty good, nothing incredible but they work within the context of the game. Zelda is all about interesting gameplay, dungeons, exploration etc. Because the games are so awesome, our imagination fills in the rest. That's what gives Zelda the feeling of being so epic.

I would've agreed with you but I recently played Majora's Mask and there's a lot of story and character in this game. Zelda games also have this 'mystery' about them. Link usually drops in at some point in time or skips 7 years and you can only imagine what must've caused Hyrule Castle Town to turn into a wasteland of Redeads...

Gotta keep them coming....

And of course, THE SUPER EPIC ZELDA MEDLEY on Mario Paint.

Wow, I love this artist. The FF stuff in particular is so cute and endearing. God damn. Fucking blows me away, its so good :D

Trying to figure out the pixiv account was sort of a hassle with how safebooru is, though.

Edit: off topic, but omg at Aki doing thriller in this FF collage XD

Edit2: I am fucking DYING from an overdose of CUTENESS. This artist's cute drawings kill meeeeeeee. Fuuuuuckkk.

Yes, I would definitely link to danbooru instead if I didn't think it might get me banned. :P

Or pixiv if I wasn't so lazy.

i love the little stories in zelda. for example the seagull-malin (was it malin, i keep forgetting the name) story in LA. or the cute lovestory of the woman in wind waker that wonders if "someone" would notice her new dress. and you can help her, find her love.
that is nintendo magic.

I knew when I watched the avatars in other threads that entering this thread again would deliver, not only I have found the best zelda fanart ever but also great fanart people are doing for the 25th aniverssary.

I've played and finished all the console Zelda games and I never hear anybody talk about this boss fight. It was pretty damn fun IMO. This one and the one with the wheelie item or whatever it was.

If you mean when they fought the dragon in Twilight Princess, then yes, that was one of the best boss battles I have ever seen on a Zelda game.

I loved that fight against the dragon in TP. Easily one of my favorites in any zelda.

Okay, maybe the last round of images... I don't have much more in the way of truly "great" ones, so yeah.

It always puts a smile on my face. : )

I apologize if I'm putting too many images on this page!

Lotsa good stuff in there, Typographenia. Can never post too many images. ;)

Does anyone know the source for this? RagingSpaniard posted it earlier in the thread as well and I've been trying to track down the artist without success. All the other good stuff I've found the sources on dA or Pixiv, but no such luck here.

Yes and no. Simplicity is sometimes better. Sometimes it's better to be short and sweet and leave the rest to how the player chooses to interpret it. Sort of like a Disney film or a fairy tale you don't need to go all out and explore each character in depth. I've seen a lot of games go for in depth emotional exploration into characters and a lot of the time it falls flat. I've always felt that the 3D Zelda games have had a great supporting cast that creates a charming atmosphere. MM obviously being the best example of a seemingly living breathing world with a great supporting cast.

I'm hopeful for Skyward Sword because TP kept getting better and better after a fairly weak opening. That dragon battle is a perfect example. I've said this before, even though I enjoyed Epic Mickey, playing through it made me appreciate Twilight Princess a lot more.

This will be my last contribution to the thread. I'm pretty much out of really good, found zelda art unless people want to see a lot of twilight princess.

Love these as a set. Also, I don't care who else has it, I'm taking the Skull Kid pic.

Something I threw together in like 03 or so. Nothing all that amazing but I felt like sharing and I don't have any of my art on this computer. The Link image is from one of the officially licensed manga...

I think I need to pull out my tablet and actually make myself do a piece for this XD So rusty though.

The Super Epic Medley is SO GOOD.

All of my favorites seem to be from Link to the Past. My least favorite has gotta be the Lon Lon Ranch theme. So irritating.

Alright too awesome. Makes me feel really peaceful

This is probably my second favorite picture from this topic (after that collage). The colors are just so vibrant; I'm getting pretty hyped for Skyward Sword now.

A nice black outline would probably work really well with Skyward Sword's art direction.
