Zelda OoT 3DS CD Preorder Help Thread [*Ends Midnight, Monday, June 20th*]

The point of the CD was more to promote club nintendo than to give out freebies though.
Ironic. Promoting their online club but leave out consumers who ordered online.

It would've been nice if Nintendo had just shipped the first run of games with the CD like Atlus sometimes does. That way there'd be enough to go around and people ordering online wouldn't get punished for getting copies late.
But then Nintendo wouldn't get the survey information.

I'm shocked that they've shut it down. I was sure that the Monday midnight deadline was just so that they could fix the popup, and people would register as normal starting Tuesday. I feel for my online-ordering brethren.

I gotta say Amazon is awesome for coming through and delivering it a day earlier allowing me to register it. It really does seem like this was a trial and I hope it means we can do things like it in the future once all the bugs are worked out. I loves me some Club Nintendo goodies.

It's not ironic because the two aren't related.

That's understandable. But they really need to have enough goodies to go around. Perhaps offering the soundtrack as an MP3/M4A download in exchange for the survey for a limited time would've been a good option once the CDs run out.

this sucks , We have blue laws here and i couldn't buy the game until monday and ididn't know it ended monday night. Really sucks .

I feel ya. Also, I feel sick for missing this. Ugh.

Sorry, no excuse for disqualifying online shoppers from the promo. Not the biggest deal in the world, of course, but NO excuse for it.

LOL, this is stupid. Pre ordered the game, picked it up Sunday but was busy. Couldn't play until last night and I spent my spare time actually playing the game and I go to register this morning and I am SOL.

Pretty annoying, but it is a bonus that they didn't have to offer, so I can't be that sour about it.

Amazon just issued a free $20 credit which I used to pre-order Super Mario 3DS...so all Is forgiven.

Same here. I'm afraid to put it on a game though, since I ordered OoT months in advance with credit and it locked me in for an Amazon purchase.

Thank God for Amazon deals though.

Gotta say what a dick move by Nintendo.

If they don't want to give people the CD then just don't do it. Don't make a big deal about it at the conference to lure people in and now make some stealth move to piss people off. Cheap bastard.

We wouldn't even know about this 48 hours deadline if we didn't see this post in Neogaf for god sake.

the original line was "when supplies last." if you hear that and insist on ordering online it's your problem, not Nintendo's.

They didnt reveal the deadline until it was posted on the club. Not many people knew about the deadline until release. Who's fault is that?

Amazon gave me 20 credit so I'm over it.

Urgh I couldn't register my game until this morning. I had no idea they would run out so fast. How annoying.

My Amazon copy, which I preordered months ago, arrived just now.

I'm actually pissed about this shit. Nintendo's actions of 2011 continue to baffle and disappoint me.

They didn't "run out" NoA limited the promotion. In Europe, you can register and get the CD through June 30th.

It's a bunch of bullshit. I think I'm gonna call them tonight to at least let someone know that they exclude people who buy online for no good reason.

EDIT: Although, I'm svery happy Amazon issued a $20 credit to all purchasers, way to be awesome when Nintendo failed hard. I emailed them and asked if they could put the credit toward my open order for SMT:DS OC (it's not on the list but comes out before 9/30) and they totally did, along with $15 in other credits I didn't even know I had. $5 game FTW!

Haha, I just called Nintendo twice trying to convince them to send me a CD. I felt like I was being obnoxious, but damn it that CD is the reason I bought the game at launch.

Come on man, some people ordered before the cd was even announced, and If you cancel an order on Amazon you dont get credit back if you used any. It's not like online preorders were all put in last week. What I'm saying is that you're placing blame unfairly when there isn't necessarily blame to be placed.

In any case Amazon righted the situation, so its all cool.

What did they say when you spoke to them?

No, you get it back. You only miss out on Gold Box deals, and even then that's just $2 in this case. They still should've had at least a week grace period though.

It IS possible for credit to expire (assuming this is credit from buying a game, not a gift certificate), so I'd have to assume if it were already past that point then you'd lose it, but I've juggled it around a few times before.

They both said that the offer ended last night and I'm out of luck, even though I bought my copy on Sunday and wasn't informed about the deadline. Seems like they're really not allowed to make exceptions. One of them said to keep an eye out for more Zelda stuff since it's the 25th anniversary.

I never got an email, is there a way to look up whether I'm getting one or not on the Club Nintendo site?

Edit: never mind, found it

Did it actually list yours in there? I registered mine yesterday around 5 PST and I'm still not seeing it...

Don't worry if you haven't been e-mailed yet or the reqward order inquiry is not showing up. They are going to enable the offers for everybody who ordered by the deadline in about a week according to the promotion details. Only those that ordered with the popup, called or e-mailed them will have already received the e-mails. Everybody else who qualifies will get them next week sometime as stated.

I never assumed there was a deadline when I heard about "while supplies last". I figured they would run out of their CD's they had available after a few hours. Stuff like that happens all the time on the Internet so I guess it lasted longer then I thought it would.

That was part of it, sure. They really, really screwed this up though. Allowing these to go for two days only is pretty stupid. If I buy the game this week, I'd consider myself an "early purchaser." And that was the intended audience. I was out of town on Sunday, and I worked too late to get to a store on Monday. I wanted to buy the game this week, but now I'll just wait for a sale. I'm really, really disappointed about this.

Guys, it was always "while supplies last". That means, if you really want it, you'll need to buy the game on day one.

That being said, the soundtrack should have been a promotional item for pre-ordering. Or, if they wanted to promote Club Nintendo, give it only to those who did a "intend-to-buy" survey. I hope Nintendo does more stuff like this through Club Nintendo...

Alright, so I registered at about 10 central last night, filled out the survey, and haven't had anything show up in my order history or gotten an email. Is this normal, or should I call in/shoot off an email?

If there's enough to leave the registration window open until the end of the month in Europe and Japan, well, I think there is plenty of supplies. NoA are just being cheap asses. Not that we should be surprised by this.

Just finished talking to customer support! Of course it was excellent love nintendo. He said my order never went through and wouldnt have, he then placed the order and gave me the order number. He even asked what my plans were for the 4th of july and made convo while he was filling it all out.

If you log into Club Nintendo and click on the "My Coins" tab, as long as Zelda OoT is there and the date is 6/19 or 6/20, you should be fine. They may still be catching up with all the registrations, which would explain why some are getting e-mails and some are waiting.

The phone number for Nintendo support is 1-800-255-3700, but as Nintendo stated in their official boards, there should be no need to call. As long as you registered before midnight last night, you should get a copy.

Edit: eh, that's alarming that he said it wouldn't have gone through.

20 dollar amazon credit? what?

I got an email from them saying I have 20 dollars to spend on a qualifying 3DS game until 9/30/2011 and the qualifying games suck.

Wrong the support guy on the phone told me that my order would have never been processed if I didnt call. He was wondering why mine didnt go through either. Maybe because I registered it on an android device :/

Did you see if your registration was showing up in your Club Nintendo account?

How did you get $20 credit off that game? I got a $20 credit, but it can only be used on a select group of games :/

Yes the game was registered and I could see that it was. I might have mistaken what he said owell im glad I got my email and was added to my order inquiry. Id suggest anyone to just call there support line if your worried it was no more than 6 minutes and they know what there doing so you dont have to explain to much.

Okay, was just asking to see if I would need to update OP again (ffs Nintendo). I put up their contact info again if people want to reach them, but will wait to see if there's any other similar issues before putting any more detailed info or if it was just a fluke in their system. Glad you're getting the CD though.

My guess is that the customer service reps don't know about the new process that will be implemented next week to give the CD to everyone that registered in time. They have the process to enable via the old method down pat, but if they don't know about the new method (which has not been implemented yet), then they would instantly assume you wouldn't be getting it.

My suggestion is to wait the week they mentioned. That's when they say they are going to retroactively add the offer to everybody who ordered on the correct days. If we haven't heard about any retroactive offers by then, you still should have time to e-mail or call to get enabled by the old method.

Place an order for the game that you actually want, then start a live chat with a customer service rep and feign ignorance on the "select games" part. They'll apply the $20 to your order. Their policy is to always give the customer what they want, even when the customer misunderstood something.

This is why Amazon has the best customer service in the world.
