Zelda's theme music is amazing

It seems like the main thing causing a misconception with BotW's OST is simply that the overworld area themes are of the very minimalistic variety so that means less booming overworld goodness getting blasted into your ears like that one bit of the TP Hyrule Field theme that wont leave your head (you know the part I'm on about).
Otherwise it's soundtrack is still playing by the series rules if that makes sense, village themes, dungeon/divine beast theme, catchy minigame themes, it's all there.

I will say you have to kind of go searching for some of the great stuff since it doesn't play enough in game to burn itself into your memory, at least not quite yet anyway before people have replayed the heck out of it to get hype for the various gaining entry the divine beast themes.

Link Between Worlds soundtrack is so underrated.
I'm not sure it's so much underrated as it has the advantage of taking what I'd consider the most classic of Zelda soundtracks and updating it for modern audiences thus its less impactful when you know most of its tracks already but damn if some of those remixes aren't the best the respective themes have had. Plus there's still some great new themes in there as well. My only gripe is a lack of AlttP opening demo theme in there.
Overall it's probably my favourite of the series.
GOAT Kakariko theme

LBW soundtrack is incredible, even the totally new stuff.

Was not a fan of the BOTW soundtrack at all. Biggest problem I had with the game.

I remember you saying this before in another thread. I think you said it works well for the game, but something about it not necessarily good ambient music. I can't remember exactly, but this IS good ambient music. Also how can it fit and work but be a problem? I don't get it. It's fine if you don't like it but some of your comments about it don't make sense.

The piano is appropriate for the gorgeous hyrule field when you're on a horse. innapropriate would be dubstep playing when you get on the horse in hyrule field.

but I don't like the piano nonetheless. I prefer something like the traditional hyrule field music.

not sure what about that doesn't make sense

there's plenty of music that fits a certain game/movie/whatever but that I'm just not a fan of. I'm sure you feel the same way.

I'm a gigantic Zelda music fan, and I must admit, I was originally pretty unfulfilled by BotW's soundtrack.

After now having spent 75+ hours in the game and having listened to the full OST on YouTube thrice, I've done a complete turnaround. The music is more sophisticated and nuanced than in previous Zelda games, and I think because of that the soundtrack is more of a slow burn.

But after having made time to fully digest it, it's simply sublime. I can also hear shades of Fire Emblem, Splatoon, and of course Animal Crossing as well. It's this glorious mixture of unexpected instrumentation and offbeat, minimalist melodies that are as much about the breathing room between the notes as they are about the sounds themselves.

Like almost everything else in this game, it's a pretty radical departure that works spectacularly well.

Lorule theme still the king though, obviously.

I think Zelda music is overrated. While I have a problem with the field music in BoTW, namely the cold mountain music, BoTW has my favorite compositions in the franchise. Certainly nothing in botw as melodic or memorable as the best of OoT or Spirit Tracks. But due to the quality of the arrangement and layers in the composition, I can see myself listening to BotWs soundtrack more often in daily life than other Zelda soundtracks.
