ZombiU 2 listing spotted on Amazon France

Yes, Namco being involved would be consistent with Guillemot's statement, but I seriously doubt that Ubisoft would part with the franchise just like that. Not because it has a lot of financial potential, but just for legacy/historical reasons.

It was Ubi's first game, after all.

What statement was this?

Oh my god please let this be true, zombi u was my biggest surprise last year. I bought it expecting it to be a fun little time waster, instead I got quite possibly the most high intensity survival horror experience in the whole generation.

In some ways I actually think it is one of the most effective survival horror games period.

The Souls way of handling death makes you really feel the tension every time you start to feel overwhelmed, pulling the trigger is a scary proposition because you never know what might happen after you do pull it so you have to make sure you can commit.

I died like 4 times during my first play through and 3 of those four deaths were near the beginning. The other time was
the goddamn arena
.

Seriously wonderful game.

The only thing I wish would have changed was melee, it was a little too boring and a little too overpowered for 1v1 encounters. If you were only fighting just 1 zed at a time you could easily without really getting hit kill them. Would have been nice to have a choice between melee weapons as well.

Quick! I need to make the joke before anyone else! Awww crap too late

hmm. Didn't believe this due to Namco but the game description seems a bit weird to be a mistake. Not sure what to think.

That would get me to buy another Wii U for sure. I hope Nintendo have made it simple to sort out my NNID by then.

Oh man, if it's multiplat that would be even better.

Wouldn't you say the Gamepad was what made the game more compelling? I ask because I know you adore the game. I got it at launch but only played an hour.

I would love ZombiU 2, the first was fucking great. It was also made by Ubisoft's only competent studio, so I'd love to see them give it another go, because as much as I love 1, there were some definite issues that I'd like to see fixed.

Maybe, since Namco Bandai saw how successful a hardcore game ala Dark Soul, they decided to invest in another one and hope for similar success.

I am talking out of my ass as well.

I don't believe it. Or maybe they're doing a sequel on other systems? Either way I don't believe in a ZombiU 2 on the Wii U.

How did Watch Dogs bomb hard on the Wii U? It has been reviewed as a solid port, and the general public of people who picked this up (like myself) can say they are quite happy with the purchase.

Ubisoft did not release many copies of Watch Dogs on Wii U, so going by sales alone doesn't work in its favor as being a well-received port.

Overall, I'd say it was a success.

How do you know that just yet? It was literally released just a week ago and with very little fanfare (if any). We have no way to know if this was a success for them. It sure seemed like a quiet release, almost like swept under the rug.

Was the IP valuable enough to make a sequel rather than just make a brand new game and not scare off new players.

The Namco thing also points to the listing being dubious.

First was decent but never finished it. Would love a sequel. Hopefully it's multi format so more people get to experience it and hopefully it means we get more zombiu games.

This answers nothing. We don't know how many copies of the game were shipped by Ubisoft. I would wait for official numbers from Ubisoft.

I think I am just happy that Ubisoft lived up to their word, and delivered this game - even 6 months late. They did not need to do this, but I am glad they did. And even better, it's a decent port and not some shoddy, half-done game.

Zombi U 2 with either Ubisoft or Bandai Namco behind it, I like it. Happy to see more and more support coming to the Wii U. The first one was an innovative title that just came out at the wrong time. If ZombiU came out now, I think it would be given more of a spotlight.

Didn't Guillemot say the first one sold so poorly they'll never make another?

Can't believe people didn't buy it either!

WHAT!

I'll believe it when I see it, but I would be absolutely thrilled if a sequel was coming to Wii U. I loved the first one so much that it is largely responsible for me getting back into video games after a lengthy hiatus.

I still think ZombiU has the best use of the GamePad. I want more of that!

ZombiU2, gotta set it in Dublin, still waiting for a game to be set in Ireland (Broken Sword 1 doesn't count, neither does Tomb Raider Chronicles).

Default weapon = hurling stick instead of cricket bat.

Why would namco pay ubi for zombiu2 to be published on wii u. Wouldn't it just be Nintendo and ubi?
I meant nintendo would hire namco bandai to develope just like they did platinum while paying to use the rights to the game from ubi.
Maybe they worked out a deal like they did with sega.

The first one was my GOTY when it released so I will gladly take a sequel. (Tho...I will have to wait for GAF impressions since the Ubisoft of Today may release a completely broken game, will not buy if glitches. Hopefully Bandai did buy it, I trust them more nowadays.)

Would love for it to be on WiiU since it was perfect for it but I'll glady buy it on PS4 if its anywhere near as good as the first one.

It existed on Wii U, but last I heard the project was definitively shitcanned.

Would not be surprised to see them reuse the development thus far to put it somewhere else. Or the listing is just going off old, old information.

Why would namco pay ubi for zombiu2 to be published on wii u. Wouldn't it just be Nintendo and ubi?

It could be a co venture between Nintendo and Namco.

Given their recent close relationship (Smash) and Ubisoft's abandonment of the Wii U, it would make sense to help a third party fund a successful, mature third party game on the system.

Wouldn't you say the Gamepad was what made the game more compelling? I ask because I know you adore the game. I got it at launch but only played an hour.
The gamepad undoubtedly enhanced the game, but it wasn't essential. My favourite thing about the gamepad usage was the voice of the prepper, and that could be replicated on a DS4. You'd need a semi-translucent 'live' inventory to capture the tension of the original which wouldn't be as effective, but could still work.

The biggest wow factor for me was how they thoroughly nailed the atmosphere in the game, and that wasn't dependent on the pad in any way. Just some fantastic art direction and sound design. Those strings on the loading screen, man. They haunt me.

...oh god I need to play Zombi U again. Almost enough to pay £200 for the privilege.

Didn't Ubisoft admit the first one bombed so hard they would never greenlight another?

I don't think there was ever any statement by Ubisoft on how much the game sold. Maybe word that they were disappointed but that doesn't tells us what the game sold. We don't know what unrealistic expectations Ubisoft had for the game. Especially after the game was reportedly restarted twice. It was originally suppose to be a 360/PS3 game I believe. Then changed into the Killer Rabbids from Outer Space game that was shown at E3. Then it turned into ZombiU. What we do know is that Ubisoft didn't do a damn thing to push the game at it's launch. In that year they had no problem spending tons of money pushing Assassin's Creed 3 all over the place. Multiple trailers and TV commercial among other things. They could have easily added a few seconds to those ads about ZombiU but didn't.

Now if Ubisoft expected the game to sells millions with no advertising or push and recoup the development cost they sunk into the game after restarting it a few times they were stupid. Of course the sales would be disappointing. I've always said and will continue to believe that ZombiU's failure was 100% on Ubisoft. I think the failure of a game not selling is completely on the publisher/developers side for not making the buying public interested enough in your game to purchase it at all or over something else. Especially when you are dealing with an early adopter crowd who are more willing to try new things and are perhaps the more core game focus regardless of it being a Nintendo console. I know I was which is why I got ZombiU in spite of their actions. The few interviews and clips were enough for me but I doubt for many others.

If a sequel somehow existed I'd be up for that as well. Certainly not expecting it but I will play through ZombiU again at someone point.
