XBLA (Xbox Live Arcade) News, Announcements, Reviews, and Impressions Thread

Thank you guys for your comments. Like you said, it's a shame it wasn't sub-10$. I'd have bought both.

You're welcome

I was actually speaking about the first Cars, which was more of an open-world game. I rented it but never finished it, and would like to because I'm a completionist.

Cars 2 is the better game, though.

Toy Story 3 is worth picking up just for the toybox mode.

So good.b
This man speaks the truth. I bought it for 10 bucks on a whim and still haven't finished it at all because there's so much stuff to do and unlock! So much variety in the missions and ways to explore. It's ridiculously fun and one of the best licensed video games out there that people overlooked. Even the story mode is so good that it reminds me a lot of Chibi Robo.

Although the PS3 version would be the one to get since it exclusive content in the form of an Emperor Zurg theme in Toy Box mode as well as being able to play as him. I wouldn't mind double dipping on the PS3 version somewhere down the line or seeing a YouTube run of it.

I think I'm gonna check out Metro 2033 at that price to finally see what all the buzz is about. I heard it's scary to say the least. Only problem is I have no space on my hard drive. :(

Syberia seems like it would be fun. I'll have to try the demo. Has anyone here played it? Any impressions? It looks like a decent puzzle game but the visuals and art style look pretty horrible.

Syberia is actually quite old, and considered by some to be a classic. It's been so many years that I can't quite remember if it's good, but I remember being quite fond of the atmosphere.

Syberia was already old when it was released in the original xbox back in 2003 (?). If you can past the outdated graphics it is a great adventure game. I Just do not understand the reason of its 360 release right now. Part 3 isn't coming to consoles, right?

Just saw Splosion Man is the GWG for Australia, New Zealand, and Japan... That is one of the top games of last gen, and an amazing platforming game, dripping with humor. I think they lucked out when you see what was given to other regions in comparison: 1/3rd of the Raven game (and the remaining 2/3rds cost $20).

Not the best deals, something like Bejeweled 3 should not be that expensive... It's a good game, there's no denying that, but just not worth $7.50

It amazes me that every time you think xbox.com has got as bad as it could get, Microsoft manage to introduce some new bug or "feature" which makes it even worse.

Every time I click a link, it loads a splash page for literally no reason at all and whatever I've clicked on just vanishes into the ether. Then I have to close the tab, click it again, and it loads fine. How does this company produce anything?

Countdown to 2015 prices are dropping early.

The sale shouldn't officially start until Tuesday so any daily offers should be available until the end of Tuesday/early Wednesday.

More items will pop up later today. Some of the bits listed in the weeklong section could be daily, we won't know until MS makes an official announcement.

These are Gold only. I'm unsure if they are daily deals or early DOTW bits. I'll reorder when more is known.

Man... I miss MS points. That currency was one of the best things about the XBL marketplace last gen.

what? you realize it is just a mental thing, right? 800 points = $9.99. It didn't change anything but the number display.

Agreed. Also, checking the box to log you in automatically does nothing. If you haven't been to the site in a few hours, you have to fully enter in your email and password again to log back in.

There used to be a lot of great deals on MS point cards. I could get 10$ worth of points for 6-7$.

I believe that the transition to the new currency system makes it harder for the gift cards to go on sale.

I feel like I see the cards on sale just as often. It's not like the value changed.

My XBLA discount expectations are:

- Virtua Fighter 5 FS Packs
- After Burner Climax
- Minecraft
- Geometry Wars
- Trials Fusion
- The Dishwasher
- All Sonic games
- Contrast
- Bomberman LIVE
- Trine 2
- Child of light

GoD:

My XBLA discount expectations are:

About that... :(

Anyway, I have a question.

Has any GAFer bought Transformers: Fall of Cybertron on 360 at Walmart since that was supposed to come with a code for for a free copy of the original WFC on 360?

Wonder if that will still work or not.

There isn't a season pass for season 1 of TWD.
Not this time. Unless Telltale hear enough noise about people wanting individual episodes to go on sale, I doubt we'll see them go on sale as often (or at all) as the season passes. Probably makes more business sense to have people buy them all instead of piecemeal. *shrug*
