Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Do we know how well Miitomo in Japan? Reached the Top20 yet on the app store or something?

Also note that's the Free chart but I'd think Free apps will always be way above paid ones anyway.

Now how's it doing on the Top-Grossing charts, who knows! :p

Edit: Also notice it doesn't say "In-App Purchases" like a couple of the others. I guess micro-transactions don't count?

Hmmm. Maybe it's too early in its life cycle, but I would of thought it would have placed a little higher given the anticipation of Nintendo's first mobile app; then again, the monetization aspect don't seem central comparatively to other apps in its category.

DS3 seems to be doing well in preorder charts. You guys think it's going to do better FW than Bloodborne?

Miitomo is number 1 overall and 180 in top grossing.

It hasn't started to trend downward, and will probably slowly trend upwards as more people download the app.

After checking Yodobashi Akiba, every model of Wii U hardware (including the Pokken Set) is still sold out after 2 months. You can imagine what kind of shipment had the Pokken Bundle Set.
The situation is just pathetic.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure if Nintendo releases worthwhile content on Miitomo or if people keep playing the app without losing interest, they will chart higher in the top grossing apps.

Amazing how they just killed all the momentum gained during the quite good (and unexpectedly so) holiday season. They should have a quite big supply at least for the Golden Week.

42 000 Yen, heh?
Only 88 000 Yen for the version with DVD :)

Looks like there's going to be a .pdf version? Might be more convenient.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
People really underestimated Attack on Titan and overestimated Valkyria Chronicles. For Valkyria, I guess most thought the demo might help? Maybe the success of the PC version also threw people off what demand for a PS4 version would be?

What do you mean by "the situation"? As far as I know, starting from Week 4, 2016, Mitsumi Co. stopped the production due to Chinese New Year holidays.

I think I need to explain this, a little bit better.

The Wii U shortages, as far as I can tell, are (or better said, were) caused by an internal production problem in Mitsumi Electronics Co. This company was one of the manufacturers of the Wii controller and some parts of Wi-Fi PCB for DS, in the Wii/DS era, and now is dedicated to manufacture some parts for the Wii U hardware.

Their factories are located (at least, those focused on manufacturing Wii U) in China. The Wii U stock problems started somewhere around the beginning of the festivity of the Chinese New Year on February 8th (new moon), and they stopped the production. This festival ended on February 22nd (full moon), that's why Rakuten and other blogs expected that Wii U shortages would have ended by around that time (late February to early March), since there are not factories in Japan and there are some difficulties to send the production from China to Japan.

What is the problem, now, that there is no reason for shortages? Well, doing some research, I found that Mitsumi Co. became a subsidiary of Minebea (another electronic company) and announced an official integration with this company.

In early February, they had to revise their expectations to explicitly declare a six billion yen deficit on their anual report.

but why shortages affect only Japan?
I didn't hear a similar situation in the West... the reason is just because over there Wii U sales are like 3 digit numbers?

The only reason that could come to mind right now, is that they have enough units shipped overseas that they don't need steady productions to keep sales according to keikaku outside Japan. Don't know, really.

Surplus western warehouse stock would fairly easily explain that, and Splatoon didn't greatly change the forecasts for the west so the expected allotments never "ran out".

If it is as Horuhe says, then this is a clusterfuck of manufacturing.

I mean if supply problems had started to show signs before week 5.

The only reason that could come to mind right now, is that they have enough units shipped overseas that they don't need steady productions to keep sales according to keikaku outside Japan. Don't know, really.

It was stated (from the usual blog I think) that Nintendo took the entire scheduled shipment of Q1 in order to fill the unexpected high holiday demand, so they didn't have in plan to ship many units from China to Japan since they thought the stock they had in warehouses would last until the end of FY.

China new year's holidays and manufactoring problems have created this situation of continuous shortage. The question is how many sales were lost and won't be replenished when things are normalized again. March has almost ended and that time is not far.

I hope Nintendo learns (haha) from this situation and they don't make the region lock again. It's not a thing that only annoys users, but also can harm themselves.

They just can't ship western's Wii U to Japan. And there's also the fact that Wii U Premium is black in the west, but white in Japan, so they don't match.

An all regions same policy would've avoid the current situation.

Wouldn't changing western systems to Japanese ones be extremely easy for them?

Agree about no region-lock systems but if a manufacturer has a problem nintendo can't be blamed so much, it's not something depending on them

Those shortages are really frustrating. They completely wasted the greater-than-expected holiday sales and also killed whatever small momentum the system could have had. Bah.

I mean, in the grand scheme of things what have they lost...? <100k sales? It's a mess but hardly important

100k sales of hardware, potentially another 200k or even more software sold and of course not causing retailers to go suicide bombing to Nintendo's office lool.^_^ Is all important things lol.
