Deep Silver/Koch Media trade one No1 for another this week with ‘Metro Last Light’ replacing Dead Island: Riptide (-25%) at the top.

The 4A Games developed title is the follow up to 2010 title ‘Metro 2033’ and despite being unable to match the week 1 sales of its predecessor which debuted at No5 back in week 11 2010 it goes straight in at No1. Retailer promotions see EA’s ‘FIFA 13’ (+45%) climb back to No3 ahead of Nintendo’s new 3DS offering ‘Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity’. The Pokémon title is the 6th in the Mystery Dungeon franchise and the 3rd best week 1 debut in the series.

Activision slip from No2 to No5 with ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ (-32%) ahead of Square Enix title ‘Tomb Raider’ (-11%) which is down to No6. TellTale Games’ ‘The Walking Dead’ (+28%) improves on its debut week climbing from No9 to No7. ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ (-24%) slides to No8 with less than two hundred sales separating it from Ubisoft’s ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ (-6%) at No9. Last week’s No6 ‘Bioshock Infinite’ (-8%) rounds off the Top 10 this week.

I will never understand Dead Island's success. I can only assume its a right place right time thing.

Pokemon spinoff up that high shows the hunger for full Pokemon on 3DS no doubt. That'll boost system sales single-handedly, as the series has always done.

The market is surely depressed (jvm posted in the last thread that week 19 was the slowest ever, no?) and all, but finally, FINALLY 3DS is starting its engine here too. There are still many things to do, but things are improving significantly. And Luigi is monstrous, it's unstoppable.

They way the localisation was handed in Europe was a joke!!

As good as Luigi is performing, I'm even more surprised how well Lego is doing on the 3DS. Well I shouldn't be surprised, considering how popular Lego is, but then I expected Luigi to sell well in the first place.

There is a less in here for Nintendo....release games and people will buy your system.

3DS is really showing a turn around in Europe.

As for the Wii U, I think the price is a problem for causal adopters. Amazon seems to be proving that. This also may be signs that people in general just don't want to spend a bunch of money on dedicated hardware.

Nintendo are said to be testing sales potential of different price points. It's why we see the same ones cropping up at different retailers. Amazon and the like will be given trade credit for their troubles I suspect.

Wii U was overpriced from day one. £175 basic bundle and £225 premium and they would have been flying off shelves. Sure, Nintendo would have had a lower profit margin but they'd have more consoles in homes and considerably less bad press.

Despite the Wii U surge on Amazon not a single Wii U game made the charts. So depressing.

3DS is killing it though. Luigi's Mansion, Donkey Kong, Lego City, Fire Emblem, Pokemon all in there. One day we're going to look back on the 3DS and consider it to have the best library of any Nintendo console.

Not at all surprised Donkey Kong is doing well. I worked at GAME back in 2010 when the Wii original came out, and it was constantly sold out and being asked for. Crazy popular for some reason.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but are people right in thinking still then that the 3DS is doing poorly in the UK? I don't see how it can be when it's had at least 1 game in the top ten for 2 months now.

We won't know until some hardware numbers emerge from the fog. Certainly the software seems to be doing better judging by chart presence.
