Of the top three new entries last week at No’s 1,2 & 3, the Top 2 remain stationary, with Deep Silver/Koch’s ‘Saints Row IV’ (-44%) at No1.

This is followed at No2 by Ubisoft’s ‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist’ (-37%) while last week’s No3 ‘Disney Infinity’ drops to No4 (-16%). There are 5 new entries this week within the Top 40, the highest of which debuts at No3 and is Square Enix’s revamped ‘Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’ for PS3/PC – note that ‘Final Fantasy XIV’ originally launched in September 2010 on PC only, debuting at No10 in week 38/10.

Ubisoft debut at No6 with ‘Rayman Legends’ which is the direct successor to 2011’s ‘Rayman Origins’ – good news for Ubisoft is that ‘Legends’ outsold ‘Origins’ week 1 by around 20%. Right behind at No7 is EA’s ‘Madden NFL 25’ for 360/PS3 – last year’s version ‘Madden NFL 13’ also debuted at No7 exactly 1 year ago for 360/PS3, although in terms of sales, ‘NFL 13’ holds the week 1 record. Capcom debut at No26 with ‘Lost Planet 3’ and Deep Silver/Koch come in at No28 with ‘Killer is Dead’, developed by GrassHopper Manufacture who were most recently seen in the charts with ‘Lollipop Chainsaw’ (wk24/12). ‘Killer is Dead’ continues the assassins themes explored in cult classics ‘Killer 7’ (PS2/Gamecube in 2005) and ‘No More Heroes’ (Wii in 2008).

Not calling it success, but Wii U prominence for Rayman Legends is heartening. Hope this shows third parties that results can be achieved if you provide the sort of titles that the Wii U base likes.

Not bloody likely.

OMG, a multiplatform game that delles better on the Wii U!
this and Sonic Racing confirm that a certain demographic really is there, despite the low install base imho

Am I the only one surprised that Rayman Legends Wii U is best selling version? It also seems like the "sent to die in september" comments were not far from the truth :(

Interestingly, the best selling version charted in the same spot that W101 charted last week.

I'm holding out for the PS4 version of FFXIV.... but damn is it so hard. ;_;

Surprised WiiU selling the most, but at the same time makes the most sense given the Nintendo created a market for that genre with New Super Mairo Brothers U.

NOPE, I would've been disappointed if it wasn't.

Not sure if it was so in EU, but in NA all Wii U kiosks have Rayman demoed on it. And it is the oldest known version.

And of course the whole demographic thing. :p

The little blips on the the charts every week for the Wii U remind me of a heart rate monitor.

The patient is still in critical condition, but they were flat-lining for a few months, they may have permanent brain damage, I'm afraid.

Wonderful 101 dropped from 12 to 40 on the full price UK chart. With Pikmin 3 holding in at 39.

Glad to see Disney Infinity has some sticking power on the platform but it has to be hurting Nintendo to see their own software flounder. edit. My mistake, it was the WIi version of Disney Infinity that is charting. WiiU version missing in action. Skylanders is in big trouble on WiiU.
Wow, didn't expect Rayman to sell the most on the U.

Wii U (45)
Xbox 360 (30)
PS3 (24)
PC (1)
Well at least we know the day one PC version isn't accountable for the sales spike. Origins was a staggered release.

PSWii60: November 2011
with Vita, PC and 3DS coming in February, March and June 2012 respectively. Wonder

Not really surprised at Legends Wii U. Nintendo platforms tend to have a bigger audience for certain games. Though how long it stays the best selling version remains to be seen.

Interesting regarding the splits on Rayman. Ubisoft will probably view it as good reason to have moved away from the platform exclusive as it will have generated more sales. Splits for 360 and PS3 would have been better if it'd released at a less competitive time (Saints Row, Splinter Cell).

I'd expect total sales to be in the region of 15k with Wii U around the 7k mark.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

On the same chart, One Piece is 26th and Etrian Odyssey IV is 29th.
One Piece is 10th in the PS3 Individual Chart and 20th in the Value Chart.
Etrian Odyssey IV is 7th in the 3DS Individual Chart and 34th in the Value Chart.

Oh well, Ubisoft, I hope you're happy with your sales now. I'm really curious when they will blame the sales on the Wii U owners.

It will be interesting to see what the legs are like for the Wii U version or if the PS3/360 versions pull ahead in the coming weeks because of the much larger installed base or drop down because of competition from GTA5.

Pretty sure when Legends starts to get discounted, Wii U version sales will get left in the dust.

The PS360 versions already had competition from Saints Row, Splinter Cell and Disney Infinity. GTA coming too. I don't think Guardian posted the split for Disney Infinity's debut, but this week, Wii U is at 8%. Wii U competition was Splinter Cell (Guardian doesn't even list Wii U in the split) and W101, lol.

Blame Wii U owners for taking up 45% of sales?

B-b-but it should have been 65% because Wii U owners love platformers.

Seriously, they could've sold more if they launched then when everybody was looking for games to play instead of now, in freaking September, when you can buy Pikmin 3, TW101, Splinter Cell and a ton of other games coming out in a few weeks. I just don't see how they thought it would be a good idea to launch now. They probably invested a lot more money in the development, too.

So anyone think Lost Planet 3 will rise next week after having a full week on sale?

Every day I see WiiU games on HUKD but there's little to no evidence anyone is even buying them.

You only have to look at Splinter Cell and Disney Infinity to see what will happen there. If retailers aren't burning through their intial allocation they're going to be hesitant to reduce the price of the stock anyway. Have to wonder if publishers even care.

I'll copy here what I commented also on the Rayman sales topic:

I still think they would have achieved better sales if they would have released the game on Wii U in February as planned and the other versions now. They could have gone full price on Wii U (59.99 euro) and reduced price now for the rest (39.99 or 29.99) and it would have been a better business.

Really glad to see FF14 do so well. I too am trying to hold out for the PS4 version and struggling not to jump in at PS3.

The "starved for games" argument doesn't seem so strong after the W101 flopped recently.

You have a circular course; Wii U is not advertised therefore Wii U demand isn't there, few shops stock Wii U and even fewer prominently so that's not helping demand which is already not there because Nintendo aren't advertising the console or dealing with retailers to ensure more of a presence which makes it much easier for the console to be mistaken for the expensive peripheral it was inevitably going to be.

Ultimately, it's Nintendo's fault for not even trying up until now; I actually think software sales are pretty decent. Remember, this is a console with a UK install base that is almost certainly still under 200k and, thanks to Nintendo's cock-ups, low visibility and infrequently stocked software.

No, it's because everybody know it was going to flop. There was never even the slightest shred of doubt.

Anyone with a modicum of sense knew W101 wouldn't sell well, being a game that is hard to comprehend on a tiny install-base. You'd have to be entirely cretinous to expect it to sell.

The "starved for games" argument doesn't seem so strong after the W101 flopped recently.

You have Pikmin 3, W101, Disney Infinity, Splinter Cell and Rayman in a month. Two of them being appealing for the Wii U demographic. In February was nothing. Actually it was nothing from launch to end of March (when LCU and MHU hit).

I don't think this is a game you need to waste your excuses on. By any metric, it's done more than respectably on the Wii U. It's almost seems like an involuntary reflex at this point to blame the publisher of a third party title for its poor Wii U sales!

The Xbox 360 version of Payday 2 exceeded all expectations two weeks ago, last week didn't even chart due to supply issues. I see that it has finally been restocked.

Were there *any* doubt on W101? :D
There was a modicum of doubt that it would bomb, yeah. Some of the more enthusiastic fans mistook their own enthusiasm for wider interest.

I don't think that Lost Planet 3 was a 'high profile' title like W101. I understand that Wii U fans feel like they're being bullied but I don't think this is a good example of that.

Disney Infinity seems to be able to repeat the Skylander success, especially considering the legs these "family" products have, and the incoming holidays. Probably (looking at Skylander) the Wii still have its satisfactions, lol.
I wonder if Swap will suffer the competition, or if other competitors will arise next year (I firmly believe that Nintendo should try a proper experiment with Pokemon on the Wii U (home consoles seem more suited for this kind of games) and not a small niche not so bad eshop only spinoff with very limited NFC figurines distribution)
