Microsoft’s ‘Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition’(-9%) holds the No1 spot in the All Formats Chart for a second week.

It’s a quiet week for new releases and so the 4J studios developed title finds itself largely unchallenged at the top. ‘The Last of Us’ (-2%) which held the crown for six weeks prior to Minecraft’s ascent to the top climbs a place to No2 as does Nintendo’s ‘Animal Crossing: New Leaf’ (-0%) to No3. Following a strong week on week boost in sales EA’s ‘FIFA 13’ (+33%) continues to climb back up the chart reaching No4.

Even more impressive is the climb of Ubisoft’s ‘The Smurfs 2’ (+115%) which following its debut two weeks ago flies up the chart to No5 no doubt helped by their second outing on the big screen. Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ (+48%) is also back in the Top 10 up from No16 to No7 following a near fifty percent boost in sales. Square Enix’s ‘Tomb Raider’ (+1%) is a non-mover at No9 while ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ (+11%) just edges out ‘Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros’ to round off the Top 10 at No10.

Minecraft is the game that keeps on giving.

I wonder what the whole MS-Mojang situation is. I'm surprised they put it on smartphones before Playstation.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
UK Chart - Amount of titles per console

PS3 - 10
3DS - 7
PC - 2
WII U - 2
WII - 1

Not a single Vita game, hopefully with KZ:M that will change for a while.

One, possibly two weeks. KZ:M is not a system seller, it will sell to the existing base, which is too small to support a long run in the top 40.

Since SCE Cambridge are making it, I think KZ:M will play better than any other KZ game, but it is too tarnished by the poor console entries to be a system seller.

7/7 are Nintendo games

This is quite a problem, tbh.

What third party titles released recently could possibly be in top 40? Project X Zone had a great debut, and followed the same pattern as Tales of Graces F, and did much better than One Piece (charts wise); MH3U appeared for several weeks a little time ago.

I know what you mean but I'm hoping for a few weeks more. CoD sold for ages. I know it has the brand going for it, but the quality difference is massive, it's the best fps on any handheld, ever. In MP, it holds it own vs playing any console fps imo, hopefully Sony can get that across.

Now that Wii U has at least one big exclusive game released each month, it should do just bad, not dysmal numbers.

It's only a problem for third parties, and they aren't interested in the 3DS anyway.

You mean Western, I hope...

Moreover, recent US numbers showed 3DS has a core audience, more specifically the one with Japanese tastes; not so much the one with Western tastes, so far.

Since Nintendo is the only one releasing really great games for the 3DS the last few months, it's not too suprising, though.

Yeah, that's exactly the problem :/ There hasn't been a major third party game in a while.

I guess one could count LEGO Legends of Chima but March saw the last big third party efforts with Castlevania and Monster Hunter 3.

It is absolutely a problem if Nintendo starts shifting development focus towards Wii U.

Sure, but as you mentioned CoD is a massively popular brand in the UK. Killzone is not. It was a mistake to spend all that time and effort making a Killzone game for Vita, Sony would have been better off telling Cambridge to produce a new shooter IP for Vita, and if it was successful then bring it over to PS4 with a new entry.

Well Pikman 3 saw no Hardware bump at all. I doubt Wonderful 101 will see HW sales improve.

Will not happen. The 3DS has to be the priority for the company.

Iwata already stated that 2014 will be another strong year for 3DS, first party wise, though.

EDIT: For better accurancy

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/library/events/130612/02.html

However, our internal software development teams are now at a stage where we can expect software launches without too many intervals. We still have many unannounced game titles. Therefore, we expect to release a sufficient number of first-party titles for the platform next year as well.

That's one route I guess.

Perhaps with the PS4 launch game being a killzone title, the franchise won't be looked down upon so much (after gamescom where I imagine it's going to get more of a showing). They'll need people to be pumped for killzone sf, I don't think they're there yet.

I can definitely see this, since Pikmin is rather niche, but what is the source on this? I didn't see anything about this in the last topic.

Doubtful. Shadow Fall looks as uninspired as 2 and 3, it will sell on the basis of being a launch title. Hopefully that will get Sony to kill the franchise.

Well, yeah, it's a PAL thread. It is odd that we view these threads in a hermetically sealed bubble though. Leads to odd stuff like:

Monday - "3DS has shit 3rd party support and shit 3rd party sales" - True.
Wednesday - "3DS has a ton of 3rd party support and shifts a ton of units" - True.

It is absolutely a problem if Nintendo starts shifting development focus towards Wii U.
Well, there is that pickle, but they'll just have to live off Japanese sales and 1st party legacy stuff in the west.

Shame, KZ:M really is excellent.

Hopefully there is more to KZ we haven't seen yet...or they quickly borrow from the Vita version lol. I'd love a good excuse to buy Killzone at PS4 launch, so far I'm leaning towards waiting.

skipping cod, might give bf a chance, probably wait to upgrade pc

I know it's waaaaaaaaaaaay to early for this but what do you expect from KZ4 having said that?

Usually when Wii U sees a hardware bump in the UK (mostly thanks to clearances), Nintendo Land pops back up on the charts because it's bundled with the most sought out SKU. That didn't happen last week.

Yeah, Pikmin 3 unfortunately failed to boost hardware so far. At least, it didn't have a bad second week. New Super Luigi U, instead...

It will do okay on the back of being a launch title, and it will get an easy pass from critics because it is a first generation PS4 game so any deficiencies will be overlooked. The game will play exactly like 2 and 3, lame shooting mechanics and pretty graphics with a horrible story and passable multiplayer.

GG have been hammering away with the same formula for three games and made no impact, I very much doubt a fourth entry will.

I don't doubt that, like I said, because it is being made at SCE Cambridge it will have the best gunplay of the series and other gameplay mechanics will be better than the console versions by GG. It's just that Killzone as a brand is not a popular one and Sony should not have put so much effort and resources into making Killzone for Vita because it's not going to do that well.

I have to wonder if the decision to make a KZ4 came from Sony or GG. I mean i think by this point Sony must know that the franchise just doesn't have any pulling power. From GG's perspective i would have thought after 3 games they may well have had enough of the franchise but i guess they may have more of the universe they want to explore.

I feel like having them work on the franchise isn't really the best move for Sony.

I love that kz has its own style and gameplay, the way you worded it you want another catch all cod shooter, we don't need another. Bases are filled, cod bf and k all have there own flavour.

PS3 (29)
VITA (9)
3DS (5)
Bearing in mind the difference in install bases, the title also being sold on PSN, and the momentum the 3DS has seen the last 6 weeks or so, this is astonishing.

If I was a western 3rd party, making a western game, I know which of the two I'd put it on.

Nice to see the Vita version is holding better than PC. Is that retail only for PC?
Vita has been responsible for a minimum of 10% of NFS sales for as long as I can remember. It's criminal that they're not bothering with another Vita NFS.

^ shitloads of fifa13 digital codes were given out for free on amazon too. But yeah, big difference considering the userbase sizes.
Strange that, perplexing.

Vita has been responsible for a minimum of 10% of NFS sales for as long as I can remember. It's criminal that they're not bothering with another Vita NFS.

Or the DLC. Or to fix an annoying bug.

lol good luck with that

oi, let's see if I get the bump from DC first yeah :p

On topic of Killzone, it is sad to see the series not having as much popularity as other shooters. It is a lot betters than most of the average, run-of-the-mill shooters and it has a pretty amazing MP.

I mean just look at this GIF

I will be getting the VITA version of Mercenary Day 1. I got a some friends who own a VITA and we are eagerly waiting for Mercenary so that we can play MP together.

What's the difference?

Multiplatform titles have different entries for each platform they are on in the individual chart. That's why you see FIFA 13 on 360 at #6 and on PS3 at #20.That's also why Pikmin is 5th on the individual chart and 15th on the other one.

Individual charts are what are usually posted here, they give a better idea of how things sold and on which platform.
