Wow... I knew I had seen that style somewhere before...

I have been waiting for ages to see a new game with Yoshio Sugiura as an art director.
(He was the character designer for Hundred Swords, then drew a few cards for Culdcept Saga, but I don't think he has worked for another video game since then...)

Anyway, this game just feels so weird.... that I have to get it on day 1 :D
Plus, it seems to have quite a lot of English text, which is good.

(But I'm amazed –and utterly thilled– that Operation Darkness is somehow still in development and hasn't been abandoned)

Thank you Japan for staying with SRPGs when the entire WW2 scene seems to offer nothing but shooters and an occasional RTS / tactical affair. I am pretty sure they can't make a serious by-the-book WW2 game anyways.

I shudder to think what they could do with the X-Com franchise... ah sweet dreams.

The second trailer is up. It's probably the one that was supposed to be on Marketplace.

It's mostly the same one on marketplace, although I think it's a longer version. I downloaded the marketplace one yesterday and it was like 50+ meg, this one is 100+ meg and seems longer from what I remember.

TWO WEEKS! I'M HYPED! :D

Dual language support? It looks like Success tried to make this fairly easy to localize for english territories.

The OST CD comes with purchase from Amazon Japan.

No, I think it's just english menus, which isn't entirely unusual. There are no signs that the game itself is actually in english.

Front Mission 5 had English menus, too, right? That didn't exactly help with its localization!

Yes, but I could swear I've seen most of those menus in japanese as well. I wouldn't expect voices and such, just that it seems a bit more text heavy than your average.

Well I just thought I'd let everyone know:

Xboxlive updated today and one of the additions is gamerpics and themes for Operation Darkness.

It's starting to look like there's a chance we'll see western release for this game.

(Oh and I caved in and bought a theme/gamerpic set. Vampire Nazi rules)

The official blog has been providing a lot of interesting info on the game. Here are the more important details:

- The Story Campaign has 27 stages.
- There are 17 Sub-stages.
- There are 20 EX (hidden) stages.
- The game has multiple endings, the total number of endings is secret for now.
- The conditions for the endings might depend on which characters you capture alive instead of killing.
- The hidden stages are accessed by finding an item that might be hidden on a corpse in the battlefield.

See that's the thing. Usually I'd write it off like Idolmaster but all of the text was translated.

Hope you are right, Pepsiman.

game looks interesting.

I saw this game in Famitsu a couple/few months ago and brought it to my boss's attention (work for a localization company). He ended up talking to the dudes in Japan, and it seems more than one company is/was interested in releasing it in the states. On the up side, that means we'll likely see it here. On the down side, I don't think I'll get to work on it =(

I would so love to write for this game, but even if I get to just play it I think I can die a happy man.

Wow... Jack the Ripper as an SAS member... Talk about awesomeness... (does that word exist ?)

Anyway, I've already placed a preorder on Amazon to get the free OST.

And if the game comes to the West, I'll gladly pick it up again (provided it is actually a decent game ^^) so I can understand what is going on. (I want to know how Godzilla landed in Berlin)

By the way, thanks for the additional information, guys :)

This seems more in line with worldwide tastes and marketability though, unfortunately.

On that note, another Idolm@ster picture pack was put up on Marketplace recently, bringing the total to 3, with no game localization in sight. :D

Game is shipping at P-A.

We need an official thread for this! I dunno if I'll play it right away, with ASH just out I don't think I can handle two time-consuming srpgs at once. I guess if this seems pretty cool from the start I'll drop ASH.

How the hell can there be almost as many hidden stages as main game stages? Seems like a dumb decision since you'll likely miss most of the hidden ones.

Only one person from forums.xbox.com has been responding about the game thus far.

Appearently, he loves the game and thinks it's fantastic. He said it's vastly more a isometric strategy game vs. a SRPG.

He said there is lots of cheese in the dialogue, and camera angles are bad sometimes, basically, the famitsu complaints were valid, but overall, the plusses far outweigh the few bad things.

Sounds good. Nothing sounds game-breaking.

My copy just shipped yesterday so I'll put some impressions up early next week.
