Anyone with access to the PSW article this comes from, would love to know if there's an estimated release date attach to the article. Thank you.

yeah... mainly (been able to see it for about 15 minutes only). although the waterfalls look too artificial imho - some artwork i guess

Hot. You didn't happen to see the cities did you? I'm kinda curious if they've fixed the design and made 'em more organic in nature instead of being a series of block towns like they were in the first game.

So...let me get this straight. You come into the XBLA thread every week to whine about how pretty much every XBLA game sucks, but you truly love Just Cause?

Well, I'm confused.

Was never planned as an exclusive, but it did start life with Eidos in the pre-SCi days...

Maybe this is going to be PS3 after all? Sony must be hankering hard for some more exclusives, especially ones that will look so tempting on the shelf (like JC1, gorgeous to look at, great on paper, but just a bit... pffft) And now they've bought Eidos, well... that's some scope there.

We have the same "exclusive coverage" in the french OXM, so...

Rico's in the stunt position. if you look at the screens they're all based round that one area with the casino on top of a waterfall. next screen shows Rico skydiving.

I'm playing through the first one on 360 now and it's got some good ideas, but you can see where more time in development would have really paid off. Still, there is fun to be had. The world is just so sparse in most places and the huge island is just an excuse to have to drive forever to finish side missions. Hopefully there is actual stuff in between the main mission areas that will make going off road worth it.

I actually enjoyed the first Just Cause (somewhat), just hope online play is implemented in the sequel. Now with GTA4, SR2 and JC2 (among others).. 2008 is seeming more like the year of the Sandbox ;p

welcome to the fun world of just cause. realism is not what just cause is about. every vehicle has a stunt position. basically, you can leap out of it, and stand on the roof, or hang off the wing, or whatever. the vehicle keeps going because despite that not being realistic, it's fucking fun.

I can't help but think the first was really limited by the inclusion of the last gen formats for release. I'm hoping the PS3/360 only releases means they can improve a lot of things that were wrong with the first game. The first game was impressive graphically but a lot of other shit was pretty baffling, I'm sure they got a lot of feedback what was b0rked so the new version should be a lot more cohesive.

Graphics were never really the problem for Just Cause IMO, the controls and game play were pretty damn shitty...

Okay this is crazy!

It would be awesome if he is fixing his grapple gun to the chopper to do some "Mission Impossible" style lowering into an objective. That would be a perfect co-op situation actually, a second player keeping the chopper steady or adjusting it as needed! :D

The lead platform for the original was last gen with an upscaled port to 360 a later consideration.

JC2 will showcase the full power of their next-gen tech that they've been working on for about 4 to 5 years now. It is mindblowing stuff.

Will drop pants for Sony.
This looks interesting. the demo of the first game put me off from buying it. hopefully they fixed the controls and created a better story.

I was just thinking about Just Cause yesterday and how visually amazing it was. I knew Avalanche would step it up for the sequel. Just get the gameplay tightened up so that shooting and driving are satisfying and they'll have a huge game on their hands.

Yeah the game looked INCREDIBLE in the sky, for example. You also have to consider it was their debut game. If they can put some real gameplay meat into it and preferably don't have a publisher breathing down their neck to push out the game early, Just Cause 2 could easily stand with the big ones in the genre.

Should be great, completed the original on PC and besides the shoddy driving controls it was great fun.

One of my favourite moments was flying a jumbo jet really high, bailing out and just gliding through the clouds for a few minutes, checking out the view. I then dived down, heard the noise of an engine behind me and turned around to find the jumbo still spiralling down! Grabbed the wing, jumped in and kept on flying. :D

Hijacking helicopters in mid air FTW!

The flying stuff was pretty great.

I was contemplating giving Just Cause a whirl the other day...but it's published by Eidos, so fuck that shit.
Why's that bad?

EDIT: Oh wait, that's not to do with the whole K&L advert drama is it? Dear gods...

The first one was underrated and really cool. Bring on the next one!

Agreed, excellent game. Wasn't perfect, but definitely one of the better free-roam games to come out in years.
