The small details in the game are incredible.

Act 2 non-story spoilers
I love that not only can you meet Kniles' mother, you can explore his room, and even find the graves of his sisters who died under mysterious circumstances. All of this for a character who IIRC isn't even linked to an actual quest.

Yeah, there are a lot stuff like that. Like there are a lot of notes that reference future NPCs and whatnot and you only notice them on replays too. The game has a lot of sub-plots and random NPC connections, It's really something I appreciate.

107 hours, level 17 and a half.

About to finish Chapter 2.

You think you did everything in chapter 2, then you go over every inch of the map with high Wits and Spirit Vision, and find like 2 bags full of new loot and a over a dozen more quests. It's nuts. Chapter 2 by itself has enough content to be a modern rpg.

It's not like you have money problems after you learn to ROB EVERYONE.

I never had money problem until I hit level 16 the other day.

There's a higher tiered gear than legendary/unique which cost a lot of money.

Yeah, Act 2 is pretty long. I think I've spent 50 hours already on the map, and I'm not done yet.

Are there any clues where you should use spirit vision?

Hnngg when you pull off that perfect steal and come away with like 5 new skill books, some gold and a legendary item for each member of your party, increasing them immensely.

yes act 2 is really impressive, and I haven't even found anything with spirit vision.

but so many fights are wrecking me, I only play on classic but I don't think I manage wo win any fight on the first try, and I am at least 1 level over the enemies.

I also just noticed that apparently the gear from vendors increases with your level, so I have to buy some new stuff I guess, armor especially.

I regret making Red Prince a 2 handed damage dealer now. He hits for loads of damage but he's comparatively squishy because of his relative lack of armor. Fane and my main Lohse can take more damage than him now. Also, I'm getting 2-shot by some level 10 enemies at level 9. I'm going to have to swallow my pride and lower the difficulty now, don't I?

I never started Ifan's quest until after the magisters were already pissed at us. Is it too late, did I screw myself out of ever finishing it?
I need to talk to a magister but he's aggro against me like all the others.

You could always just respec Red Prince.

DivinityGAF,

Is there a respec option? I mispecced Beast and I grown tired of resurrecting him after every fight. He thinks the scrolls grows on trees.

Gear is the biggest factor when things are starting to feel rough in the game.

The way the gear scales up each level is insane, even a level 9 piece of gear v.s. a level 10 piece of gear can easily be 30-50% more armor on each piece, which increases your power dramatically. Steal, buy, whatever you need to do to upgrade your gear every level if you can.

Also, don't be afraid to make him 1 handed and rock a shield. It's a hell of a lot more armour. Plus usually have armour regenerating shields up. From what I can tell, it's not like their are warfare skills that only apply to 2 handed weapons. Obviously will lose some damage though.

You need to teach me your ways because I feel like I can go through chapter 2 after 20 hours and feel like I hit most points. I don't get how you guys are dragging it all out.

I'd also like to learn the magic. I'm just about to hit level 17, I'm not quite done with Act 2 I can probably squeeze out another 10 hours max if I exhaust everything in my journal and follow up on all the little spots I wanna go back to with spirit vision etc. but I'm only 44 hours in lol.

I hate how expensive the resurrection scrolls are. I have over 1k gold and buying another even with 100 disposition will instantly spend all my money.

2-hander melee fighters shine at the later stages. I originally put one-handed weapon on Beast, but after getting a powerful 2-handed axe later, I tried to switch him to it. He really is a beast now in the frontline.

Generally, I speak to every NPC and listen to everything they have to say.

I also shop a lot. I think shopping is the main culprit here, I spent way too much time browsing the vendors' wares.

Steal them.

They're pretty easy to steal. Even if you steal like 10 of them from one NPC, you'll still have plenty of room to steal the other items.

Are there any downsides to
killing the magisters in Driftwood
? I've just about had it with this idiotic escape quest.

Oh, I could clear act 2 (with what I now know) in 10ish hours. A completionist run? shit, I'd have to write down what to do in what order as to not fuck up several quests.

Like, did you figure out the Bloodmoon Isle quests without a wiki? That took forever to get all the steps right. You actually get more xp if you do it in the way the devs intended (figuring out clue for clue) Did you use Spirit Vision on the Lone Wolf camp while everyone was still alive? That was a bunch of new quests quests out of nowhere. The Wrecker Cove has several ways to accidentally skip entire events, so actually going through it as intended (and getting the sweet sweet xp) is harder than just using teleport skills and bouncing around like a buffoon. There are like, 4 (that I know of) optional tough bosses in chapter 2 that most people ignored/didn't find/didn't bother with. Fighting those without overleveling is probably insane. And then there's just like, random treasure in weird places to find using teleport.

And I stole everything that wasn't nailed down, killed every Magister, etc etc.

Finally managed to get my drift with my current party. After a few levels and focusing the Points on certain attributes I get:

Ifan as a two hander melee necromancer
Beast as a dual wielding Warriormage with Aeromancy
Fade as a Mage with Pyromancy and Geomancy
Sebille as a dual dagger rogue

Rogue is finally a great DPS machine to destroy armor.
Beast is tanky and has great damage
Fade takes down the Warriors from afar after taking the shields
Ifan... is just there, doing stuff like healing, damage and decaying

Getting equipment and levels made all the difference. Invested in Thievery as well, and managed to get money, and extra skills.

Feels I'm finally beating the curve (Level 6 inside the lair after the Salamanders... AFTER 20 HOURS)

Yeah the amount of stuff I missed on my first playthrough is insane, and I I sure as hell spent as long as possible trying to find everything.
Also haha yeah the quest order can be all sort of wack: something someone posted on the fourms.

Day 1 "You killed Ryker"

Day 2"You found a stone tablet, perhaps you should let Ryker check it out"

Day 2 evening "One of grave keeper asks you to kill Ryker"

Day 38 "you rescued the missing priest."

Day 38 evening "you found a clue that leads to missing priest's where abouts."

*Sounds of head bashing against desk*

I mean hell im a idiot in Chapter one you find Gratina's Soul Jar FOR SOME REASON I never put two and two together with the NPC in Santuary had the same name, just always went to the Cave first and if you do she dies, or if you find Garreth first before going to Sanctuary to heal the wounded they die.

The Herald, the 2 demons chained under Bloodmoon (you can conquer these via dialogue, but if you brute force things you gotta fight em), the witch ghost (Alice).

Couldn't find a quest specifically associated with killing the Herald or Alice, and those demons under Bloodmoon were stupid tough. It's easier just to use dialogue options to do those.

To be fair on everyone questionning the 20hours thing, he said Chapter 2, not act2. Chapter 2 is escaping the island, which is basically what people call act1. Might just be terminology issues.

While possible, I find it unlikely someone would clear act2 in under 20hours on the first run. You'd need to kinda run the right away to get the faster objectives done asap, and the lack of xp seems like it'd make it really hard to do some of the stuff unless on explorer, and even then.

I think Alice is the witch that turned the couple into cows, IIRC when I killed her that quest was updated (not that it did anything to close it).

I didn't know you can only pickpocket someone once, makes me be much more careful about what I grab from now on. I'm about to hit act 2 and I've put in 10 hours now, roughly. This game is tremendously deep. It motivates and rewards you for playing differently and with inquisitiveness. It gives you a huge pat on the back simply for being adventurous and curious about the world. I really applaud Larian for trying so hard to predict and reward even the most odd potential player choices.

My brother is concerned the game won't be fun co-op since there are dialogue options and turn based combat. Afraid it'll be a little slow/boring with 2 people. Can anyone comment?

It's her, but killing her accomplished nothing. Her home didn't change,
her pet dialogue didn't change, the cow quest was unaffected, and the book she dropped (which is critical to another quest) can be gotten in several other places. Killing her was basically just for xp, bragging rights and some loot. I may be terribly wrong and have missed something though. Maybe there's a way to put her spirit to rest without violence?

The game doesn't stop when one player is talking to NPCs or involved in combat, which is awesome. You can handle the talking, he can handle the...uh...chicken escort quest? :p I can say this about the combat though: it's tough enough that you'll be too busy trying not to get your ass kicked to worry about getting bored.

I mean hell I would have loved if they let people steal as much as they want but have the NPC leave permentlly cause he couldn't make a profit and now you lost a vendor, would be a interesting punish for those that got too greedy.

Yep, I guess either the quest is bugged, or there is some very obscure form of solving it that we haven't found yet.

In Act 2:

After I learned my third source point for Powerful Awakening, I go to do the ritual for a third time. There is an unkillable? void enemy in the Hall of Echoes. He literally takes one damage from everything I do and has 2.2k HP. Has anyone else run into this bug? I guess this quest is just stuck now...... When he kills me I just respawn in the Hall and run back into battle as he is fighting my god
