MARIO + RABBIDS: Kingdom Battle |OT| XCOM on mushrooms

Do I have to pick up coins that appear in battles from overkilling enemies or destroying cover blocks, or are they automatically added to my bank? Because fuck if I want to waste time scrolling the map to pick them up.

I was under the impression you have to pick them up. I usually just sweep the map at the end quick using a teammates turn instead of actually running around after the fight.

Yes you have to pick them up and sometimes I do, but there are points (often :p) where you're just swimming in coins so I don't even bother.

Having to redo the battle before the Bowser Jr Mech when BJr beats you...is infuriating to say the least.

Holy shit, the 3-7 challenge mission. Think I'm about to beat it on my second try, got fucking rekt the first attempt.

Trick was killing the shotgun guys quickly so that you could move everybody to safety on their side. That also prevented the tornado miniboss from getting into the mix, and the ice mini-boss often didn't have a shot either. Killing the piranha quickly too meant only the Cavalera miniboss and the regular enemies were taking shots at the team, so burning them down then focusing on the remaining ones was the right way to go. Rabbid Luigi with maxed out dash damage can one shot a lot of the small dudes, or dash + shoot for a guaranteed kill which helped immensely. Peach and her constant heals helped quite a bit too.

Just beat it. Got a perfect in every main mission and damn it is satisfying having a ridiculous plan come together and work out. I beat most of the game with Mario/Luigi/Rabbid Mario, beat the final boss in 5 turns thanks to the bucklers and brutes being baited to do some chip damage to the boss. 4-8 and 4-9 took a lot of careful planning because I wasn't using reliable healing, just vampire weapons on Rabbid Mario, but I got through the 3 battle gauntlet in 4-8 with Luigi at 4 hp the entire time so that was tense but fun. Rabbid Mario getting buffed with mpower and full power explosive dashes is ridiculous, I got so much stuff done through that combined with magnet dance and his hammer.

Excellent game, great job Ubisoft. Makes me regret ever being skeptical about the concept.

Just beat world 2. What a wonderful surprise this game is. And all the characters seem so useful so far - very well balanced. Rabbid Luigi was lagging behind for a while, but since I extended his movement range and increased his vamp dash damage he's becoming my MVP.

So much love went into the art and animation in this game, it's consistently entertaining everywhere you look.

Kinda annoying you have to beat a co-op mission on easy or normal before it unlocks hard since now I have to do each stage twice. Just let me beat hard and move on. lol

I'm playing the co-op missions solo and they aren't too hard. Currently on 3-3.

edit: n/m, mission 3-1 on hard is kicking my ass. I hate escort missions the most.

Advice: Should I just skip most of the challenges until near end game then come back to them? Some of them seem real hard to do without more powered up weapons.

I want to eventually do all of them but I don't know if it would be better to try to get orbs sooner or wait until a little bit later to do them?

All of them ard doable right after unlocking. You may want to reset your skill to get what you need to beat certain stage.

I didn't do any of the challenges until after I had finished the story and was so overpowered that I cruised through all of World 1 and 2 without even thinking, even most of World 3. They are clearly balanced to be done right after completing that world and still be a 'challenge'.

I beat the game about 2 weeks ago and only did a handful of the challenges in my normal playthrough. I'm going back now to complete all the challenges but it seems a good half of them are now really easy. Still fun, but the challenge of the challenges is what distinguished them from the main game.

If you want to be able to breeze through them, wait until you beat the game and unlock the best weapons / skills. They were designed to be played after completing that world in story mode so if you play them right after they will be a bit challenging. I played them all after completing the game and the only challenge I had a little issue with was 4-10.

I still maintain that some challenges are probably not meant to be beaten till you've played some of the next world, since they have enemies you haven't seen yet.

I generally do about half of them and come back a little later.

Also, since getting to World 4 I've had a few glitches. It feels like this one was less thoroughly playtested than the others, I got stuck on geometry and had to reload once, then I got stuck on one area behind a warp pipe that refused to trigger on the return journey no matter what I did. Also had a minor "almost stuck" bit but that got fixed by walking away and tackling it from a different angle.

That's probably the only blemish on what could otherwise pass as a legit Nintendo game.

Mario/Rabbid Luigi/Peach was my key to success for that one. High damage output, vamp shenanigans plus the grenaduck for hitting him from afar was really helpful 👍

Yeah I experienced a couple of geometry hiccups in the game myself, one forcing me to restart the game. In world 3 around the middle area where there are 4 paths to go j got stuck in one of those water fountain things with coins around it. Got really annoyed I had to close the game and hoped I didn't have to do that one super hard escort mission challenge over again lol.

Doing the challenges after each World is more fun imo, or at least attempting them so you can go back and try again later without wandering the map for them. Will probably go through World 4 today and hopefully beat the game.

If you don't they just stay on the map after the fight and you can get them then.

Hey guys I'm not worried about challenge, I'm sure it gets more difficult, but does the game get more complex? I'm on 1-5 right now and the lack of options is a little dull. Do I get more abilities/etc?

Do you have the skill tree open already? The skill tree gives you more options to aproach fights, and you can reset it before every fight to tune your party to the map. For example for one late game boss battle I reskileld Luigi so he had max high ground bonus damage which I almost never use. That plus M. Power and Steely Glare got me to do a shit ton of damage on bosses on that map. Other time I just reskilled my party for maximun mobility and managed to get a 2 turn perfect finish in a map where the max amounts of turns for a perfect was 5 turns.

As far as I'm aware I just have 2 Ultimate Challenges remaining but they don't give skill points.

Is it not possible to completely fill out your skill tree?

Just one more challenge for 100%... but it keeps crashing! wth

No crashes until the final two challenges. One happened just before I won.

Also the 3rd ultimate challenge is a pain. Push, bounce, etc.

What surprises me the most is that Ubisoft hasn't released a patch yet. The game has soon been out for a month. Quite a few players encounter a crash at least once during a playthrough.

Yeah, way more complex. More challenging maps, objectives, enemies, bosses, team combos, skill tree abilities, etc.

Unfortunately, no.

Then you get hit with the honey guns once you almost get there. I haven't been able to beat any of the ultimate ones yet. Good challenge

Got back into this again after running out of Gundam the Origin to read. Beat Gravity Rush yesterday too. Cleared up to 3-8 now. World 4 is almost in sight!

I really love the art direction in World 3. It's weird. It's stupid. It's totally Mario+Rabbid. <3

Rabbid Yoshi is.... not what I expected. Lol.

Alright, so after getting 100% and all perfects I went above and beyond and beat all the co-op missions on hard, too. I'm now officially done with all the content until the DLC which is a good thing because I was starting to get burned out with all these battles!

Ultimate challenge 4 - escort Toad sucks. I got, like, an hour in and then Toad died. I was about two turns from the end.

I'll be glad to get these finished.

Don't rush it. If you were to absolutely bee-line it with toad (move his max. turn radius each single turn), you could reach the zone in 20 turns (you have 30). Use that leeway to always clean up the current set of enemies before moving ahead with toad (which is what triggers new enemies to spawn).

Especially the last set of enemies looks super weak, but they might very well be able to kill toad due to their high number.

I just need to pass that part to beat it. So far, no luck. I might need to change my strategy.

Characters who do a lot of movement damage is good for this. R.Mario is MVP.

I've been having a blast with this game! But lately I've had two separate crashes regarding challenges. First time I've seen a game force close on my Switch.

Are these crashes common? They're kinda annoying, especially since eim a little confused with the save system.

Not too common but I think we've all had a couple of crashes or instances where we've had to reboot our Switch.

Just beat the game myself, took me an extra day because the game kept crashing halfway through the final boss fight for me. Game was super solid and got pretty tough towards the end. Don't sleep on Rabbid Luigi, after barely using him the whole game he ended up being my most valuable character in the final boss.

Game has crashed on me at least 3 times. Twice with crashes back to the OS, once was a hardlock and I had to reboot the Switch completely. So yeah I would say this game is... not the most stable. It just crashed for me an hour ago during a Peach Royal Gaze attack on the enemy's turn.

I just checked my playtime and I'm at 45 hours. I've done all the worlds and challenges except the very last 2 challenges. These challenges are really hard!

Glad I'm not the only one who's had problems. Almost thought my Switch was dying for a sec. No OS hardlocks though, but I have had issues with Joycon connectivity after play sometimes which need a restart.

Hoping they roll out patches soon.

My game crashed right near the end of the 4-10 challenge. I was so pissed. lol

I do hope they patch it to make it more stable. The slowdown and sudden freezes in gameplay are bad, too.

The same thing happened to me. The only bug I ever encountered though luckily. I booted it up a few days later and beat it. I really liked this game, and I look forward to the DLC story part when it comes out.

After not really using him for the whole game I've just gone back to luigi in World 4, with fully maxed out Steely Stare. Holy shit he's incredible. Game changer.

I love how well balanced the roster is - they all feel amazing when properly specced / utilised.

M-Power is great for powering up your other character's Area of Effect attacks. That's what i most use it for.

Speaking of M-Power... the more i think about it, the more i feel like Mario is among the worst late-game characters.
- His movement range is AT LEAST 1 shorter than most other characters (peach, Luigi, rabbid peach, rabbid luigi) - which means that you constantly need to pay attention not to move out of Mario's puny movement range, as to not miss out on a stomp attack.
- He can only do one slide, and that one doesn't even do a lot of damage.
- His stomp attack maxes out at 150 damage, which is pretty pathetic in the late game.
- His Area of Effect attack is meelee, but he isn't particularly tanky
- With Overwatch becoming less useful throughout the later game (teleporting enemies), having his strongest weapons to be HONEY (which prevents the enemy from moving and thereby makes overwatch obsolete) and PUSH (which, if you shoot an enemy at max range will push them further away, so overwatch won't trigger)

... He's the among the worst characters in his own game, imho. :p

Yes...why can't get rid of him ? I understand the humans+rabbids rule, but it doesn't need to always be Mario!
