Here's a little spoiler: The patches will probably be 20 gigs, or at least the 2.1 one.
Just checked my Diablo III folder. With the expansion installed, it's just a little shy of 15gb large.
Lossless audio could contribute to that, assuming they're trying to get as much out of that blu-ray capacity as possible.
Those cinematics in particular might weigh a bit (5.1 lossless mix and blu-ray quality video).

Diablo 3 has a TON of voice work. I would bet the sound files are a significant contribution to that file size.

An uncompressed audio situation or what? I know it's not 100% the same as the PC version but I can't imagine why it'd be THAT much bigger. Wouldn't keep me from buying though TBH.

Nope! You can do it on XB1 but not ps4.tbag would have been so convenient though.
PS4 can read high density blu-ray wich store more than 50 GB.

lol exactly. Best way to experience D3 is to play through story mode, and then mute voices and music and then roll straight adventure mode with your own music playing.
It's not a big deal. You can delete the install after you're done and keep your saves, whether it's disc or digital.
I put a 1TB drive in my. PS4, I'm good to go for a while.
