Anyone having an issue with games not being in alphabetical order? I have 184 games plus the 21 original. I decided to limit pages to 25 games so they don't get cut off so that has 7 folder showing. I also divided other systems with (name) to separate them but now it's kind of mixed up. I'm wondering if it's the number of games or how I named them messing up the order.

Have you tried hitting Select to reorder a few times? This got it back in the right order for me.

Did anybody install the retroarch cloverapp on their snes mini?

I am not quite sure what this does...
Any cool features I would get with this?

It also seems, there is a new retroarch ver. 1.0b, fixing the save state file size problem (which I had yesterday). Will update this evening and see what it brings.

I'm just at a loss. I downloaded the hakchi debug and emailed Cluster my debuglog along with informing him of the error message I keep getting: "can't unpack ramdisk2".

No clue what's going on.

Is there a reason why you have to use the debug version? Maybe the regular version will work?

I imagine they are using it to get a log so they have information when they report the issue.

Ah, ok. I thought he was getting the error with the debug version. Now I see he's using the debug version to get a log of the error.

I found this, though
https://github.com/ClusterM/hakchi2/issues/6

I also found this:
"I get to the point flash the custom kernel, and keeps saying can't to unpack ramdisk2. Am I doing something wrong?
Nevermind. I got it. I had to switch the drives the program was installed on. "

And this:
"I've gotten all the way to flashing the custom kernel and then I get "can't unpack ramdisk 2". What do I do from here?
EDIT: looks I got it. Just moved hakchi to C:/"

And this:
"Trying to build the custom kernal on the NES using hakchi2 on windows 7 in a virtual machine. Was able to do the first step just fine with no error, but doesn't get more than 5% before it says can't repack ramdisk
I moved the hakchi folder into my c:/ drive and it worked fine. Not sure why doing it from my desktop would make a difference, but moving it into my local disk worked. "

Just hit select in the menu. Wasted time trying to figure that out with my nes mini, when it was just that simple lol

Anyone try this? Can it be applied on top of the font patch?

This is the ultimate goal, isn’t it? To get these games going without Retroarch?

Why? What's wrong with Retroarch? It runs games the native emulator doesn't and you really don't even know it's there. Games that use it, look the same on the menu as the native games.

Well it has slightly higher latency, and we didn't buy this machine to be A N Other Retroarch machine. Personally I have at least 5 other devices that can run Retroarch.

Plus getting things working in Canoe that initially don't work is kinda fun. The act of simply tinkering is enjoyable to a lot of us.

Is it somehow possible to play with 4 players on this thing?

Also thanks for the great OT Robin (and also thanks to others contributing), tinkering around with this thing is a lot of fun

I honestly couldn't see much of a difference running a game in retroarch. The couple of games I tried, seem fine. This is the first device I have that I've tried retroarch on and I kinda like how it's transparent and games that use it look no different on the menu than the native Canoe ones.

And yeah, I know how it is with tinkering with stuff, I like to do that myself with some things. By the way, can you run NES games on this with retroarch? When I was setting it up, it looked like there were several emulators it runs, also Atari as well, I saw.

Yes you can but I find there is a lag to the nes games. Genesis and fba games seem to be fine though. You can fine tune retroarch once the game starts by hitting start and select.

If I’ve replaced the boxartsof the original games in the ftp is there anyway to revert them to normal of o ever wanted to down the line?

Hmm, maybe I'll just wait and pick up a NES classic when it re-releases next year for NES games. I also have my eye on that Ataribox that's coming out. It seems like that would make a great all-in-one emulator system for older consoles. If it's hackable of course.

Well, since you needed to copy and hide the originals in order to change their art, the original games with their original art are still there intact.

That new Sega Flashback HD Mega Drive/Genesis is out over here now, any news on if it's hackable?
I know the built in emulator is pretty crap but if we could install Retroarch on it maybe it could be worth a purchase?

I haven't tried that specific model... but by all accounts it sucks. I wouldn't even think about getting it as a RetroArch machine, when a Raspberry Pie 3 runs for about the same price, is vastly superior hardware-wise and has a much wider compatibility with a variety of controllers.

pitt_norton made some custom box art for it a few pages back, the size might be off though, shows up a bit too small in my browser.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=252158627&postcount=3742

The output size I posted is what will be seen on your TV. For SFC boxarts, the size needs only be 114x204. No matter the resolution, any graphic to be displayed for TV only needs to be 72dpi as well.

See it looks beautiful while in use! ;) And soon, my updated Super Famicom Wars boxart will be posted!

What would be the best way to run Seiken Densetsu 3, retroarch on the mini, or Snes9x on a modded wii? In terms of compatibility and lag. I'm just wondering if retroarch adds more lag than the snes pad having to be plugged into a wiimote on snes9x wii.

Bit of a specialist question, but hoping someone has an answer.

Personally I'd inject it into Nintendo's official VC system and see if the hi-res stuff works.

Edit: Looking at videos, it handles the hi-res mode just fine.

That might be a bit too techy for me, it took me a week to mod the Wii. Is retroarch on the mini worth using? People worry me with tales of increased lag.

No idea about Wii, might be the better option for all I know, but if you play it on SNES classic run it through the native emulator or install the snes9x 2005 core for retroarch (which is supposed to run it perfectly). 2005 core might make other games not run, or run worse though, that's the only drawback

There's a snes9x core for the mini? Is that as simple as adding the retroarch mod in hakchi or do I need more?

Wanted to keep this SNES only but Thunder Force IV is a really great complement since there's no SNES shmup that can compare to it. Also nice to have the Sonic games, Castlevania Bloodlines and Contra Hard Corps. And then I just need to have Baseball Stars 2 and Neo Turf Masters available.

It's a bummer that NES games have input lag, also wanted to have Castlevania 1-3, Final Fantasy I-III, Mega Man 1-6 and Zelda I&II to "fill up" the series. Can't we get the native NES Classic emulator to run besides Canoe on the SNES Classic?

Cluster's retroarch pack comes with snes9x2010 by default, so that's what most people are using for retroarch. You can get the 2005 core here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/miniSNES/comments/73nvd3/the_designated_snesnes_classic_modifications/

I have no idea what the difference is with the dual core version is though, but yeah it's as simple as adding a hakchi/retroarch mod.

Hey, guys, what settings are you using in Snes9x? I want my games on RetroArch to look the same as in Canoe, but I'm not finding the correct settings :/

4:3 goes past the borders, native gets black bars (since the border is set for 4:3).

As I mentioned before, I was getting audio skipping issues with the games I tried (Rudras and SoM).

I’m still waiting for confirmation if others have experienced this issue, or if the problem could be something on my end.

Is this somethimg I should be using with the Retroarch link in the OP?

The audio skipping issue happens to everyone using snes9x2010 in retroarch.

You can use the retroarch download from the OP and then install specific mods from KMFD's pack, or I think you could skip the OP download and just use everything from KMFD's. Whichever's easiest.

I'll have try out some more of the retroarch games when I get home to check. And is there something wrong with the Secret of Mana game that's already on the Classic? I haven't played that one yet either, but I would have thought it would work okay since it's one of the 21 games included on it.

I think two very minor things are censored, other than that I don't recall there being anything wrong with it

You may find it works for you, no sense in not trying... nes games are tiny files. You may be fine with the input lag. But I found Mario bros games I was missing all my jumps from muscle memory, so there's something off for sure.

I’ll have to try that later.

How do I uninstall my current Retroarch from the Classic?

You should be able to keep your current retroarch and uninstall the snes9x2010 core. I don't know if it's possible to keep both 2005/2010 cores installed at the same time without issues, I'm not that knowledgeable.

Anyway, uninstalling snes9x or retroarch is easy, just go to Modules/Uninstall extra modules and select it.

One thing that is really coll about this thread (and there are many) is that I feel we get a constant influx of people as more and more get this fabulous device!

(Note: This helps people like me who can only do this stuff in smaller bursts)

I'm fucking proud of this one...

All the available and rare art assets for Super Famicom Wars in the world are only available from this old 1998 website...

Using those limited low res images and logo, I put this together...

Here is the snes mini version that is resized correctly...

And here is how it might look on your mini menu setup...
