My copy of hoshi no kirby 3 is strangely turning into the english version when i add it via hackchi, the title screen is in english as is the nintendo logo on bootup but when i try the same version in zsnes it plays in it's proper japanese form.

I have no idea whats going on lol

Are the instructions different for setting up Hackchi with a Mac?

Got a grind who wants his SNES jacked, but he only has a Mac computer.

Is it possible to sort games by system? I've added NES, GBC and GBA games and would love some way to organize them rather than having them scattered all over the place.

You could manipulate the order by tempering with the developer and/or release date data.

Been tweaking my list of games to add...I've had a lot of trouble adding NEOGEO games, so no Windjammers :( Any things I should add/delete? I'm pretty much maxed out on space. Leaned heavily on RPGs and Nintendo games but added a lot of classics. Originally had Pokemon games on here, but I'll never play them lol.

When you wrote “Aladdin” you accidentally put Genesis after it as opposed to the superior SNES version from Capcom.

So I am confused. On one tab of the list of games that are working it says Dragon Quest III isn't working, but on another tab it says it's working. Can anyone confirm if its working?

The fantastic Super Famicom shoot em up, Cho Jikuu Yosai Macross AKA as Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie doesn't work.

It plays but it has severe graphical issues making it unplayable! :(

My man.

Genesis version is indeed prettier, but the SNES one is superior due to the gameplay. It doesn't have the bad hit detection and blind jumps that plague a bunch of European games of the era, it also doesn't have awful labyrinthine levels. It's like those people that say the SNES Lion King is good. It's an effin cheap-hit fest that game.

Kernel. Sorry.

What should i do?

Did you read the OP?

Yes it does, mine works perfectly. You probably have a bad dump.

You maybe wanna take a screenshot or two so we can see?

WTF? How does that work?

Your first link doesn't work.

I've never done this stuff before, are there clearer instructions?

I fixed it.

https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/tools/vms/

Nah. No clearer instructions from me unfortunately.

I was considering making a video on how to do it, but I just haven't had the time.

I'm not an overly technical guy, but I'm good at following instructions.

If you go back a week on this you will see I was asking the same questions you were.

I found some vague instructions as people posted these instructions for hacking the original NES mini from a Mac and filled it in myself when i ran into trouble.

Here's some tips from me.

You need to download virtualbox. Its basically a free version of parallels.

Theres an extension pack that you would also need thats on the virtual box site that i linked called VirtualBox 5.1.28 Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack

Then download a 90 day demo of windows 7 from the second link.

You need to enable the USB Controller and select usb 2.0 from virtualbox (which is why you need the extension pack. Otherwise you can have issues installing the drivers.)

Theres a way to select the usb device filters.

Once all that is set, the hacking can commence. The only issues i ran into were usb related, but setting the usb controllers can fix that.

So I followed the instructions for borders and did everything correct I'm pretty sure. Even followed this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhRCnfuAfBo I'm wondering if I messed up naming the folders? do they have to be numbered or something?

I cant get it to work :(

It was the folders guys I had them renamed incorrectly. Custom borders are AMAZING.

Tried applying some translation patches/ROM hacks for Holy Umbrella & the JPN version of Twinbee: Rainbow Bell Adventure, neither will load, but worked just fine before applying the rom hack. I used Floating IPS like suggested in the other thread. Any word on what the issue could be? Should I try compressing the games?

What game is this?? Looks fun!

Tried Radical Dreamers on the classic, seems to work fine. Not sure if any crashes happen yet. Can somebody add it to the working games list? Cant seem to edit it

I patched Twinbee and it worked fine. You need a specific ROM version. I'm using the No Intro set.

People really need to stop blatantly saying they are using ROMs, specially naming what set they come from.

A mod said a few pages ago that they would ban people doing that.

Thanks, I'll look more into that.

My apologies if I was one of them since I saw the post & debating asking for help on getting translation patches working since I wasn't sure if that was against the rules despite others mentioning those types of hacks.

Patches should be fine, as they just modify the ROM you already have, they're perfectly legal. As long as you don't download a pre-patched ROM, or give anyone reason to believe you're not patching your own backed up ROM.

Downloading roms is against the rules, using programs and other ways to verify that your own dump is good are not. While outdated, goodsnes and ucon64 are great tools still in that regard.

Yes. You need to get the patch from the compatibility spreadsheet and follow a guide someone posted here. Search for it, its well written.
Yep, I patched my back-up ROM and it now works just like it does on the real console. Source: I have the real console to compare it to.
Saturn version is worlds better

From Stumpokapow:

I would ask that the thread be primarily focused on the technical aspects of hacking the console and making it work. Posts that are basically "Hey, I got my setup running, look at my hundreds of games" or "Wow, this $500 cart game I've never heard of before is really good" or even "I'm going to get a complete set of fan translated RPGs" are basically thinly veiled piracy bragging in a lot of cases.

In addition, when people post about C7 errors (bad rom / dump errors), it's exceedingly obvious that they're posting about a pirated ROM

My advice: If you're posting for help, please don't bother if the help you're asking for is obviously piracy advice even if you don't use those words.

I suspect we will be deleting some posts going forward if they seem to misunderstand this advice

I'm just saying, be careful what you type.

I'm not sure what any of this has to do with what I said. I wasn't disagreeing with you. Only adding additional context.

Been out of the thread for a few days.

Any progress on Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma without Retroarch?

Illusion of Gaia works with a slowrom patch. You can either search the thread for it (around page 62-65) or you can download ucon64 and run the file through it using the -l (lowercase L) command. Terranigma I'm at a dead end working on until I hear back from any of my more knowledgable cohorts in the SNES community.

(edit)http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=251698409&postcount=2515 Patch there.

And I was just posting what he said :p

It wasn't meant to be specifically to you, but to everyone that is talking about it very openly.
