Lovely lightning and environmental effects, too bad I don't like realistic(-ish) driving games. If it was like Burnout Paradise I would be all over it. Anyway, bodes well for the future of the consoles, graphics wise.
That footage was downsampled, right? It won't look nearly as crisp running on a PS4.
Been streaming this to my tv. Watching it over and over and over! The sounds, the lighting, the music, the camera, environments and most importantly, the cars... such a well executed trailer. I wonder if weavermonkey worked on this or someone else. Whoever it is, good job!
Looks like they are hiring someone dedicated for this as well. He/she has big shoes to fill in
As in an actual race? Awesome.
Yes, they already captured a few, don't know if IGN will be showing more than one. Maybe they just get one exclusive race footage and we get more from other outlets.
It looks to be an dithering filter, most likely from distance, hardly noticeable, point is I would not worry.Damn! I'm disappointed in this video. The quality is better than youtube but barely passes the "HQ" baseline! Compression artifacts everywhere! :/
And what is going on with the trees in the last portion of the video?
I checked the youtube version and that seems to have it as well. Is that a compression artifact too?
Having said that, the video proves that the game has some of the best AA I have seen this generation. The visual accomplishments are astounding!
Hoping all the info and media next week will seal my confidence in this game being a must-buy for me.

i hate shit like this. just say if it is realtime or not. or else there will allways be something fishy about it.
Surprised at the quality of reflection here, considering they've looked fine so far. This is GT5 quality reflection or worse.
There's nothing impressive in the shot at all.

And that was my point.
My bad, I wasn't clear enough. I will distinguish PR shots which are almost always bullshots vs. in game shots. Infamous: Second Son has a wonderful photo mode that was recently added, and all the screen shots posted in the Infamous:SS screenshot thread are actual screen shots. I've taken many photo mode shots myself in Infamous:SS and the screenshots are totally 100% in game, what you see is what you get. From a graphics perspective Infamous:SS looks fantastic, and in my opinion, better than any other shipping game on next-gen consoles.
I expect Evolution to add a photo mode to DriveClub and we will be able to take screen shots that rival those of Infamous:SS.
What else could it mean though? Plus, as others have pointed out, Sony has got into trouble misleading people before. I can't see them doing it again.
I thought you were just pointing out the reflections.
Forza was slated for a 2d crowd but imo it's preferable to empty stands, the low poly mountain also stands out.
Still in motion it probably won't be such an eyesore.
it could mean pre-rendered inengine as we have seen dozens of time before.
dear developers, if you have to put in prerendered and/or downsampled footage in your trailers, just spare us with those fucking "ingame" "captured on" blurbs. if you re willing to show us your glorious game in pure form, than just say it's realtime.
I gotta ask... why doesn't the industry make more use of Vimeo? Seeing the trailer on it looked fucking clean compated to Youtube.
Lowest common denominator. Everyone has the capability to play youtube videos on about any hardware you could ever think of. Uploading to Youtube ensures a 100% reach for the video, so who cares about the 1% (most likely even less than that) that cares about quality? Not worth the effort.
Sony also monetizes their Youtube channel, and must be making lots of money off it, so why put the video somewhere else or let other sites host it when it makes them lose money in the process?
Quality is sadly the last thing your average marketing drone will think about, from my experience.
Just watched the vid in the OP, gorgeous stuff.
Question though, at the end of the trailer, there's a strange effect happening on the treeline when it says Coming October 7th... I took a screenshot of it, any ideas?
Rushy has already confirmed it was captured in-game with a debug camera.it could mean pre-rendered inengine as we have seen dozens of time before.

Yes, fog is causing it because of multiple transparency overlay. The result of it is usually that pixels are on and off one after another and it looks far more distracting than it does in this trailer. In fact, the way it looks in this trailer also suggests downsampling from the higher resolution. Unless they found a way for alpha-to-coverage dither to have soft, alphaed edges (which would possibly defeat the purpose of using it in the first place?)I think it's called alpha to coverage, on some games like PGR and GT the artifacts were pretty noticeable. Maybe the fog is causing it though. I dunno.
Low res fog rendering. You can see it before that in the time lapse shot.Just watched the vid in the OP, gorgeous stuff.

Most people don't care, so why would they double their bandwidth bill? Bandwidth is anything but cheap and easy when you are talking hundreds of thousands of views, see Netflix vs Comcast...So why doesn't YouTube just have adaptive bitrate streams for people with higher connections?

wut?But it's a bit strange to say "all footage captured from a PS4 system" and then to show the game with a downsampled look. Slegdehammer did that with the Advanced Warfare trailer and that one is obvious realtime.
See 5 posts before yours.what's that weird visual effect going on with some of the trees on the ridge below the "Only on Playstation" text at the very end? It's like the trees are turning into some little squares or something?
Low res fog rendering. You can see it before that in the time lapse shot.
Didn't expect to see stuff like that and the low-res reflections in a 30 fps game tbh. Maybe it's still like that from the time they tried to hit 60.
We are based in France and can't afford the US based download server right now (though we might be able to get a new one soon). Still, you should get acceptable performance from our download servers even from the other side of the Atlantic.
Oh I thought it was a mess up in my cache or something. I have no complaints about the speed of the DL, it was fast non the less and the quality from your videos is still excellent. Guess I'll have to mute the videos though. Still worth the DL from gamersyde because of the quality.
What? This flickr account is all bullshots.
