Luc Besson's studio, EuropaCorp, reported a $136M loss in the past fiscal year ending in March. They have announced that they are realigning their focus on action and sci fi movies. They have big hopes for the $180M Valerian and the City of 1000 Planets this summer. We shall see how that works out for them.

Probably not well, but I will likely love it.

It's already been eliminated by Skyfall.

No, it was actually made possible by Skyfall. I've gone over this before - but the codename theory in this continuity is still in play. It was never in play in the previous films, but this Casino Royale & it's sequels aren't connected to those films.

(Casino Royale was a reboot, not a continuation. We're looking at the very first James Bond there's ever been. He has no connection to any of the previous Bonds. They can still choose, with the next one, to either move forward, or reject, the implementation of codename theory.

Hasbro keeps talking about their cinematic universe, but when do they plan on even starting? They been talking about it since before TF4 came out, and still nothing, even TF5 doesn't set up anything.

I know GI Joe 3 has kept stalling and part of it was cause they were never able to work out a schedule with the Rock and the rewrites, but at this rate and point it seems like a really bad idea especially with TF5 looking to do less than 4

I mean, I think Baby Driver is better than say, The House as far as movie titles go.

Though aren't they calling it Drive, Baby, Drive in Germany or something? That would have been a better title.

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action

wow, that's a rare case where the foreign title is better than the american one

although my wife said she loved the title Baby Driver

How did Skyfall make it possible? We see his childhood home and somebody who knew him before he was a spy, as Bond.

Or are you proposing that the *next* 007 adopt the real-life name of his predecessor? I suppose that's possible.

And for Fleming's sake, I know Casino Royale is a reboot. I might be the biggest Bond fan this side of Solo.

I don't think it's actually called that here. Someone edited that name on IMDb.

All the promotional material and ticket system says Baby Driver.

Yeah, that's the proposal. Skyfall closed the door on the idea that there was any other Bond but this one, absolutely. But it also established MI6 not only passes down the numbers, but the agents are asked to assume fake names. Silva wasn't really "Silva," after all.

It's possible that they could introduce the next Bond by having him take Bond's name and number. It won't be ruled out until they recast. But considering how tightly they've tied the continuity, it's more plausible than it's ever been. But that doesn't mean they'll do it, either.

Don't sell yourself short, man!

I don't really like it, but tighter continuity does make recasting more of an issue, and running for decades *certainly* an issue.

Looks like whoever did that edit already changed it back or someone at IMDb changed it.

So yeah it's not called Drive Baby Drive in Germany. Better name though, I agree.

For all the talk of Edgar Wright's movies not setting the world on fire, Scott Pilgrim is still the only bomb he's got to his name. The Cornetto trilogy all had relatively low budgets, and turned handsome profits- less so for The World's End, perhaps, but it still did perfectly respectable numbers for the size of film it was. Wright's just not really a Hollywood director; even Scott Pilgrim was weird and personal in a way that Hollywood movies don't tend to be.

This is all said without seeing Baby Driver, which might be a colossal flop and the most generic piece of trash out for all I know.

$2.1M preview points to a good 5-day take for a lower budget film like Baby Driver.

Entourage the Movie made about $18M over 5 days on a slightly smaller preview number, and that film had a built in audience (and was trash)

That's a shame. It's such a better name (and makes sense for the movie) that I wonder if it was ever a workng title.

Was talking to a friend who said Valerian's biggest asset in drawing an audience this summer is Rihanna who has never done sci-fi before.

I pointed out that she had been in Battleship.

He countered with the fact she is (???) signing in this film.

I again pointed out that the last Trek film had a Rihanna single attached to it.

He offered no more points after that and offered a grim outlook on the film's box office.

lolcopter

I tried to edit it on everything but they caught me

Damn right we did.

Please stay where you are, we're sending a wood panelled station wagon to get you.

Producers need to understand that Superheroes Cinematic Universe work because you can have wildly different films within the same franchise, the source material allows filmmakers to do so.

How will X Bond CU movie differ from Y Bond CU movie?

I would go ham and create different 00s. Like 001 is in charge to takeing down supernatural threats, 002 is in charge of maintaining the time stream, etc. Go nutz

Baby Driver is a fucking awesome name, come on now!

Although having just come out the theater, I'm not sure what to feel about the movie itself. It was surely special and not bad at all, I just haven't decided on how good it was.

I expected something more than I got when it comes to the play between the music and the visuals. As to the acting, Kevin Spacey and Jamie Fox did wonderfully.

What happens when you get to more than 9, though? Double O ten? Or the other direction: triple O and then triple O 1.

Drive Baby Drive is a much better name

The movie name plays a big role in determining if it gets people's attention or not, or repulses them.

I don't think a lot of the more alpha males are going to want to go see a film about another male whose name is "Baby".

Putting that name in the title of the film was a gamble, and it's going to hurt the film.

i wish they had keep the baby driver name here in mexico, instead of "Baby: Crime's Apprentice"

ugh,

They seemed fixated on getting the name Baby in there, and expected the big surprise to be "oh! that's actually a guys name? HOW COOL"

Making your movie title obscure in an effort to get more people to go backfires. A better name might have simply been Getaway Driver, or something along those lines. Maybe not as catchy, but it tells you what the film is about.

"Baby Driver? Oh, is that the one about someone who is a chauffeur for toddlers?"
