Here we are another year another season. No rest for the wicked. Matches may have stopped for the past 2.5months but the transfer market has been very busy. Highlights include Torres to Liverpool, Manchester United finding money underneath a sofa in the Glazers lounge, Henry saying aur voir to the gunners and moving to Barcelona, Sven splashing the dosh to build a mid table team at Man City, Real Madrid clear out and manager electric boogaloo, Bayern Munich building a Champions League team for the UEFA cup and surprisingly Chelsea have change left over.

What will happen this season? Will Man Utd do it again? Can Chelsea catch them? Can anyone else break into the top 4? Will West Ham end up in the shitter? Do the new boys have a chance? Will a GAF mod ever notice us (hopefully not). Can Mark Hughes get any sexier? I'll tell you in 12months.

Going to kick things off with who I think will bite the bullet first manager wise.

I'm going to go with Wigan's new manager Chris Hutchings. I have a feeling they're going to nose dive from the off.

I'm here to take on all the spanish champion haters.

Hannover played the game of their life. Madrid has like two days of being together. :p

GAF stickies every other sports thread except Soccer threads.
GAF hates da Europe dudes!!

It's not a matter of hate. This thread has a very high reply rate so rarely drops off the front page or 2. We are like our own little sub forum, the mods dare not tread on these soils.

+ It makes us look cooler.

It's a little bit past the half-way point in the MLS season so I'd like to put up the standings for analysis.

Code:
Eastern Conference

Team W L D Pts.

New England	8	3	6	30
Kansas City	8	5	5	29
New York	8	7	3	27
Columbus	6	5	7	25
D.C. United	7	6	3	24
Chicago 5	8	4	19
Toronto FC	5	9	4	19

Code:
Western Conference

Team W L D Pts.

Houston 10	5	4	34
FC Dallas	9	6	3	30
Chivas USA	8	6	3	27
Colorado	4	8	6	18
Los Angeles	3	5	4	13
Real Salt Lake	1	9	6	9

With the new playoff format that places the last 4 teams that make the playoffs according to points and not by conference the playoff table would look like this if it started today:

Code:
Seed Team
1 Houston Dynamo
2 New England Revolution
3 FC Dallas
4 Kansas City Wizards
5 New York Red Bulls
6 Chivas USA
7 Columbus Crew
8 D.C. United

As I've said all year the East looks much stronger than the West. However, despite the East having more teams in contention the West seems to have the strongest team in Houston who looks to win back-to-back titles despite their slow start.

Columbus went from the definite bottom of the East to title contenders thanks to Guillermo Barros-Schelotto. Also, after their hot start the Red Bulls seemed to have slowed down due to injuries affecting their backline, and utterly retarded decisions by Bruce Arena.

Other teams to watch out for are Dallas and Chicago. Dallas seems to be signing several internationals picking up Ricardinho from Tigres and are having serious talks with Denilson. Chicago signed Paulo Wanchope, finally have Blanco in a Fire jersey, and are getting a serious threat in Chris Rolfe back from injury.

And of course there's the darling LA Galaxy. When is Beckham going to play? He's not playing in tonight's Superliga match against Dallas, and nobody knows if he'll be playing against Toronto on Sunday. The media hype around him has died a little because of his swollen ankle and even caused Pele to call Beckham more of a pop star than a footballer. Unlike the sports media however, I look at the other people on the Galaxy roster. Donovan needs to step up and Pavon hasn't showed me or anyone else shit since he got to LA. Xavier seems to be able to control their backline, but what people want from the Galaxy is offense. So let's see if Beckham comes to "save" his team, and cope with their strenuous schedule that MLS decided to hand him.

My penis is still intact.
Apparently Makelele will be allowed to leave Chelsea this summer, maybe to Juve, so long as Chelsea can find another central midfielder.

Makelele to Juve, Deco to Chelsea?

As Osorio mentioned, tonights games are:

Superliga

Dallas - LA
Chivas - Pachuca

Copa Sudamericana opener

Chile Audax Italiano - Bolivia Jorge Wilstermann

The FC Dallas defense decided not to show up thus the Galaxy have a 3-0 lead after 15 minutes :lol :lol :lol

Go figure that I've restarted three times and I still can't get the stream to work. >/

Also: Yay new thread! It's clean in here.

Osorio said:
They were there but it was like playing goalkeeper without defenders.

Both goalkeepers, especially cannon made some very impressive saves.

Right at the start of the second half, 20 seconds in, Dallas almost scored if it werent for an instinct save by the keeper

Hey Osorio, Blackburn beat Bolton 6-2 in the Lancashire Cup Final which I didn't know existed. Suck it.

Can't believe I missed the Gals-Dallas game. WTF happened there? :lol

Oh and new thread is hot. We're not feeding off a World Cup this time, so I wonder if we can match or exceed the # of posts from last seasons thread.

:lol @ Dallas/LA

Well, I got a pair of tickets for the Galaxy match Sunday...$250 Canadian for the pair. Not a bad price considering a good number of single seats are going for a higher price. So even if Beckham doesn't step foot on the pitch (and as of now that appears to be the likelihood), I don't feel like I broke the bank only to get disappointed.

The atmosphere should be fantastic regardless...it's a Sunday night match and the Caribana long weekend, and of course the day starts off with Chelsea vs Man U in the Charity Shield, so it's gonna be a great day.

BTW, this is what's in store for Beck's if he does lace up the boots...

av-790.jpg

He'll probably sit out regardless just to avoid that mess. :lol

Was just about to post that, PSV claimed the title

Also, Feyenoord are stupid!! Real Madrid offered 12.5m for Drenthe, but Feyenoord wants 17m. That for a player who only has potential. He was golden at the u21 tourney, he won't be as good now in the regular season. Sell him on the hype for god sake!! Idiots!!

(Feyenoord is a club ridden with dept, external investers buy players for the club etc. 12.5m in your pocket now is better than the thought of getting 17, for him in the future)

That comment makes you sound REALLY dumb, I'm not going to even quote it for the future. It's THAT bad!!

(unless you are playing a joke on that Italian fellow in the u21 championship thread)

Like 95% of my posts involve inserting LOL into player or team names in last season's thread. Believe me, odds are if you read a post and think I've said something stupid it was deliberate.
