Microsoft and Fable II’s fairytale start to life in the All Formats Chart is cut short by Bethesda’s ‘Fallout 3’ which hands the well respected American developer their first self-published UK All Formats No1.

‘Fallout 3’ was launched on Xbox 360 (55%), PS3 (28%) and PC (17%) and tops each of its individual charts this week with the Xbox 360 launch outselling that of Bethesda’s critically acclaimed ‘Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion’ by 57%. The original Fallout was launched in Q1 1998 and ‘Fallout 2’ in Q4 1998, so gamers have had to wait 10 years for the 3rd official Fallout game. It appears that it was well worth the wait as in two days ‘Fallout 3’ has outsold the total sales to date of every previous Fallout game combined (including spin-offs ‘Fallout Tactics’ and ‘Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel’). Sales of ‘Fable II’ drop 51%, falling from No1 to No4, while ‘FIFA 09’ moves in the other direction, up from No3 to No2. ‘Wii Fit’ enjoys its 3rd best week ever with sales jumping an impressive 126%, up from No8 to No3 and outselling ‘Fallout 3’ on Xbox 360 to become this week’s top selling title across a single format in terms of both units and revenue.

Konami’s ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2009’ slips one place to No5 despite the launch of the PS2 version, which is this week’s top selling version of ‘PES 2009’, accounting for 38% of sales, ahead of PS3 and Xbox 360, both 30%. ‘Far Cry 2’ falls from No2 to No6, ahead of Activision Blizzard’s new Bond game ‘Quantum of Solace’, debuting appropriately at No7. ‘LEGO Batman’ from Warner Bros. is down one place to No8, but only 700 sales behind Bond. The top 8 games this week are all from different publishers with Nintendo the only publisher to have two Top 10 games. THQ round off the All Formats Top 10 as ‘Saints Row 2’ drops 5 places to No10. There are new entries for ‘Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3’ at No15, ‘MySims Kingdom’ at No25, ‘More Touchmaster’ at No28 and DS ‘High School Musical 3: Senior Year’ at No29.

Looks like Nintendo's new campaign is kicking in. Although I'm wondering why they keep advertising Cooking Guide all the time, as it's barely had any presence in the charts at all.

Its this weeks, they probably don't mention number 1 in the opening paragraph as Wii Fit is not a new entry, its been around for....27 weeks or something now?

The UK number 1 comes from the all formats chart, not the Individual Formats chart.

There is NO indication in any of the shops here that this damn game even came out.

If they were planning to use this game to bolster up the Wii's Christmas catalogue, they could've at least fucking advertised it.

Where did you read it's selling more than 55% of Fallout 3's sales? In fact, according to the all-formats chart, Fallout 3 sold more than Wii Fit. Wii Fit sold more than any of the Fallout 3 SKUs though.

I haven't been able to visit the PAL threads lately, and the surprising thing to me is the DS's decline. As more "big" hardcore 360/PS3 games get released at the same time, the nature of the weighted chart favors one or both surpassing the Wii for the week and then declining. The DS's slide is very unexpected, on my part.

Any reasons?

The power of nationwide pack-in games... Should mean good PS3 hardware sales for that bundle though.
