Hearing impressions from the extended demo has got a lot more excited. The stuff they showed at the press conference looked so good that its hard to believe it wasn't all scripted so hearing you can stealth that entire section is awesome. Just disappointing we have to wait until next year.

Sounds like resourcefulness if the name of the game. I nearly wet myself when I saw that Joel only had four bullets in the E3 demo, only to kill the single gun-wielding enemy and pick up a lousy two more. That, along with non-regenerating health and limited healing items makes me giddy with excitement.

While reading this, I remembered about an article that said that developers could program very smart AI, but then the AI would just cheaply kill player, which playtesters didn't like at all. But now I realize it is not about how smart the AI is, it's about how smartly the developer programs it.
I really have to congratulate Naughty Dog. They are truly making a remarkable game. |

Oh, here are some of my impressions from the other thread:
One of the coolest moments in the demonstration for me was when Joel was in a shootout w/ this one guy and chased him outside. So it was a stand off between the two, Joel inside and the guy outside the window. Then all the sudden another dude runs in behind joel and grabs him (managed to get blind sided) and is trying to hold up Joel to the other guy (outside). The guy holding joel starts shouting, "Shoot him! Shoot him!" and the guy is nervously trying to get a shot shouting, "Hold him fucking still!". All the while the player is trying to get out of the grab -- when he finally breaks it he reverses roles and holds the guy right when the his friend shoots, using him as a bullet shield. It was fucking intense and looked incredibly cinematic, amazing that it wasnt an every time thing. Yea, the embargo just lifted on it -- so more profesional write ups will be around. Also, they investigate the movie poster in the demo somewhat implying that Joel might have lost a Teenage daughter. He talks about the movie that the poster was showing and that it was, "some teenie horror flick, nobody dies in those" and Ellie says, "Well who dragged you to that?" and Joel didn't want to talk about it. Makes more sense why he'd be so protective of Ellie |

I had no idea this game had zombies. I thought it was more like The Road in that society collapsed because of some nebulous event. A little disappointing.
But it was my game of the show as it was, and I was in the boat that thought everything was pretty much scripted. Great news, I love it. |

More accurate would be saying a linear experience; there's only one path you can take and the outcome is the same every time. Is what people are getting at. And it's definitely not the case in this one. |

I think it actually enhances the mechanics, because it gives it a contrast between normal guys. And since they are a rare occurance, it'll be a nice change of pace having to hide/run from enemies that don't care about what sort of weapon you have. I hope they pose a huge threat though.
