DQ is in the same league as Monster Hunter and the highest selling Nintendo franchises. Of all of of them DQ is probably the lowest selling one, but it's still huge.

This is just a remake, though. So expect a lot less from that.

Awesome news if true, I've been thinking about picking up the PS1 version, but its a bit expensive for a complete copy. I'd much rather wait for a new 3DS port.

I never played 7, so I'm actually really looking forward to this.

I remember thinking it looked ugly as sin in the PSX screenshots I saw back in the day. It'd probably look pretty solid on the smaller 3DS screen.

Biggest/second biggest (I'm not quite sure) third party franchise in Japan. Not exactly an unexpected occurrence as the DS remake series was very successful, and Square Enix has already released 2 Dragon Quest games on 3DS>
