You don't even have to get a shirt if you don't want to. Most employees like to wear them since it's something else to wear.

It's probably more of a good will gesture.
Find a GameStop on that day where the employee is either too cool or too much of a fanboy to wear em. He/she just might give them to you near the end of the shift.
