A lot of the best attacking midfielders kind of float through definitions a bit. Reus, Sanchez, Di Maria, Kagawa, Sterling, all players that technically occupy midfield positions but are basically strikers.

Marchisio is actually BETTER than Kroos and Pjanic. And I'm not even being biased here, ffs.

Box to box, tackles, scores, can (and did) play in a deep-lying playmaker role, winger, attacking midfielder, behind the striker....basically everything.

True, maybe AM's we can agree would play CM to a good standard as well. So I don't think Mata is suited to CM but think Muller would do a good job.

The question kind of stumps me a bit as certain players are over the hill now who would of been my first choice like Xavi.

I just edited Marchisio back into the post above, and I did have him on a list of like 18/19 but I was editing it down baby. Saw more of those two than Marchisio last year as well.

Just waiting for Clevgod to reclaim the throne.

I almost left him out, but to be honest I can hardly blame Spain and Barca's failings on him. Talent alone means he's still up there.

Schneiderlin is a name that people would be like "lol wtf" if you put him on any prospective best of list, but he is absolutely class and will probably get more acclaim if and when he moves to a CL squad. Should have started over Matuidi against Germany.
