Sony: 100 million sold (PS3/PS4/Vita)

According to a new PS promo video on YouTube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEFpSYZAoRo

My estimates based on information (and other people's guesses) in this thread so far:

PS3 = 84 million

Vita = 8 million

PS4 = 8 million

EDIT: Added the IGN story even though I know everyone hates IGN:

http://ca.ign.com/articles/2014/07/09/ps4-ps3-vita-100-million-sold-and-counting

EDIT 2:

PS Blog post confirming the 80 million PS3 number as of November 2, 2013

http://us.playstation.com/corporate...3-sales-reach-80-million-units-worldwide.html

EDIT 3:

Via Aqua-math, PS3 Oct - March 2014 is 4.2 million, so it shouldn't be a far stretch to say November to July is 4.5-5 million PS3s sold, which puts us at 84-85 million PS3s (Say 84 to be safe). And (also Aquamarine) has Vita LTD around 8.35 million..

84 + 8.35 = 92.35, which leaves us with 7.65 million PS4s sold. That seems a bit...low to me considering how long ago 7 million sold-through was announced. But these are all estimates of course.

It says "including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita" so technically it could mean anything and the counter goes far beyond 100 million in the video.

For those asking, my presumed math is: 82 million (PS3) + 8 million (PS4) + 10 million (Vita).

From the video, I assumed it could mean other consoles too than what is mentioned, and that it's over 100 million sold, which doesn't really say much

Vita just passed 3M in Japan.

Sony has not shipped 10M

PS4 is at MAX 9 million.

91 million between. PS3/V

84 million PS3 and 7 million PSV.

Actually it may be:

85 million
8 million
7 million

Holy shit. Had no idea the Vita has broken 8m, let alone hit 10m.

We need to celebrate this auspicious occasion. Dave, crack open the 1973 and let's this party started!

I saw that too, but if I read correctly it went up to 119 million? There's just no way..... I saw 100 million reported by a few other game sites so I went with that for the title. It could definitely be wrong though.

I'm thrilled that Vita *might* be at double digit millions sold. I assumed much worse!

Vita is excellence.

There is no way Vita is anywhere near 10 million. Its strongest region barely reached 3 million. Japan in a week has been selling close to 2-3 months worth of US sales on average

True, but why are we presuming PSV sales are so low in Europe / PAL territories?

If the ranking is:

1) Japan

2) Europe / PAL

3) USA

I can definitely see a possible 7-8 million shipped.

PS4

PS4 WW sales up to April 6th, 2014 - 7,000,000

US

April - 200,000
May - 197,000
June - ? (datas for June coming in two weeks; it should be between 200,000+ and 300,000)

Total US = 397,000 (+ from 200,000 to 300,000)

Japan (MC)

April - 51,628
May - 29,323
June - 32,929 (as of June, 29th)

Total Japan (MC) = 113,880

So, Total Japan + US = 510,880 (+ from 200,000 to 300,000).

Such a weird thing to report imo. Oh well maybe we can get an update on the PS4 numbers from it.

It wasn't meant to be anything but a throwaway line. I'm pretty sure this is a video just to show any third party peripheral manufacturers that there's a big audience they could serve.

I need more information, because that counter in the video went up to 120 million, though that might have just been just something they did for the cool factor.

There's no way in hell that that 40 million PS4's and Vita's have been sold to customers, I seriously doubt that they've even shipped that much.

It's wikipedia. Regardless of citations it's still wikipedia.

As in it's not a reliable source of information.

Wikipedia builds itself on citations. It's getting increasingly difficult to add content without having some kind of source and not get scrutinised for it.

PS3 was 80 Million right at the start of November 2013. Adding NPD stats since then brings the PS3 close to 81 million. Other countries? Don't really know. Would assume it would bring things close to 83 million for worldwide PS3 sales right now.

Vita reached 7 million at the end of last year (2013). 83 Million + 7 Million = 90 Million.

Guessing the PS4 is around 8 Million due to me not knowing any stats about PS3 worldwide sales after November 2013 (except for adding in NPD).

Missing Numbers in Europe
Missing a lot more numbers than just Europe. PS4 launched in parts of Asia, Canada, Central and South America too. The numbers in those places may not be as much, but every little bit adds up I'd say.

Come on Sony, drop the price of that PS3 and give me a less hideous model, maybe creak towards 100 million being a more budget price.

I need a new once since my beloved OG PS3 passed away this year *sheds tear*.
