Resident Evil 4 - Ultimate HD Edition |OT| Welcome back, stranger!

Is there a reason why most people seem like they'll be using a controller on this one? One of the huge advantages of this for me is the promise of mouse control, which should turn my shitty aiming into not-shitty aiming

Woudn't mouse aiming remove the challenge? Think the same criticism was made of the Wii version, even though it controlled the best (supposedly)

The game is built around the limitations of a controller. The controls are clumsy and not entirely accurate so the zombies run to you, stop short of their hitting distance, and slowly start walking the rest of the way. This gives the player the time to aim up close.

With a mouse and keyboard or wii pointer controls, it becomes too easy. Still fun in its own way, but the challenge is lost.

It does remove much of the challenge, but the pointer controls were the most fun way to play the game. I even enjoyed Dead Rising on the Wii thanks to the controls (it was basically RE4 combat in a mall).

The weapon balance and aiming were built with analog sticks in mind.

Like how in RE4: Wii Edition they upped the enemy count because of how easy it is to headshot with the wiimote.
I'm curious, doesn't the PS3 version have Move control support? Did they also up the enemy count in that version? Or is the balance the same as the 360 version?

Curious to see what most people will end up using, KB+Mouse or Controller. I still can't decide.

If the m/kb controls are good I'll use that. I've already played the game "the way it's meant to be played" 3 times so I'll go for the most precise control scheme next time I play through it.

RE5 works very well with kb/m anyway (although, RE5 on professional with kb/m is harder than RE4 on professional with a pad... The game is more challenging by default), so I'm not worried.

I'll probably get this eventually. Man, I love the support the PC has been getting recently from Japanese companies. FFVII, and now this? All my favorite games of all time are winding up on Steam.

If someone would have told us we'd be getting THIS much support 2years ago? lol.gif

Still a long ways to go but for once things are finally looking better!

Heya everyone,

Just posted a 60 vs 30fps gameplay clip over on Capcom Unity, plus two images from the digital archives pre-order item.

Direct link to the clip

There'll also be another stream tomorrow (Thurs) with a chance to win some RE4 mugs :3

So good. It does feel kind of weird looking at the game running so smoothly at 60 fps. First time I played RE4 was on PS2 which I don't think could even keep up at 30 fps.

PS3 version does not have Move support. Which is a shame. I fully defend gamepad as the best way to play (especially for your first playthrough), but there's nothing wrong with Wiimote (or Move, or now Mouse) for a different experience.

But... the game is balanced for analog stick, please understand.

I'm just here for the eventual 60(actually 50)fps GIFs when the game launches.

Gotta get them hot reloads!

Oh shit.

I just got the best idea for a video whenever I buy the game.

With all the times I've played RE4, I'll probably have better aim with the controller. :/

Do you have a mouse with a trackball (particularly one that is a bit dusty and locks up)? If not, I doubt it lol. At least, not after a couple hours anyway.

There are so many death scenes. I'd love to see high quality gifs of all of those.

edit: wow that's super creepy now that i've read it to myself

I played RE 5 with a mouse for a while before going back to the pad. Aiming was more precise, but I found movement and QTEs less enjoyable using the keyboard.

I could see this being the case, I've never played it with a keyboard yet (dunno how the original PC release worked with it), but I hope it's at least easy to just use the mouse for the shooting gallery parts if nothing else.

I liked moving around but yeah the qtes on kb/m were a bitch. The A+D ones were all right during normal gameplay, but F+V? Fuck that shit. I would just side step lickers instead of doing the QTE counter.

"Hey, we're releasing on the 27th!"

Great, I can play tonight after midnight!

"Oh, we meant midnight on the 27th EST." :(

You know, it's kind of fucked how Leon just walks into this dudes house then when the guy reacts negatively to someone just coming on his property, he fuckin shoots him in the eye and roundhouse kicks him to death.

I fully expect to play this with my 360 controller. While my favorite controller to date is on the Wii version, I just can't see playing this with kb/m. As stated above, I'm simply too adapted with the controller at this point. I still play this all the time on 360 so I'm hoping to just jump right in and move forward like normal with the Steam version.

With that said, I will give the kb/m a shot first *just* in case I'm wrong. But I don't see it happening.

Eh, I wonder how difficult the setup will be to play this with the DualShock 4? DualShock is my favorite controller to play RE4 with.

Also, I wish it would unlock an hour and a half from now. :(

Yeah I am going to be buying this game again.... I need it in my steam library.... I have bought it on every system it was released on lol. What are ya buyin' indeed!

Well, he also swings an axe at Leon.

Well, he also swings an axe at Leon.

As a man with a gun and a car with 2 cops waiting outside, against a man whose house you just entered and seems to be just standing his ground after the first swing, he could have probably just left and got the real police instead of cold killin a dude tho

Totally. Excessive police brutality. Should have used a taser.

I'm an expert.

Leon was already going to leave though.

Leon gave him more warning than most other cops would!

Leon in re4 is pretty much George Zimmerman.

We know how competent those two cops turned out to be.

Gamepad is way more comfortable. You don't need super-precise aiming in the Resident Evil games anyway.

Gonna get me that hard achievement.

I hope Capcom sticks around the forums for feedback and they fix any bugs or glitches the community notices with patches!

I just found out that the woman who plays Ashley is the voice of Sandy Cheeks in Spongebob. No wonder she sounded so familiar yet so annoying! SPONGEBOB, PATRICK, HEEEELLLPPPP!!!! Haha!

Speaking of Ashley, will someone make a mod to mute her throughout certain parts, say, the whole game? And a mod with Leon wearing a fedora? Or a Jill Sandwich?

Also can anyone recommend me some good mercenaries videos on youtube I can watch and use to easily beat mercenaries? I could never get 5 stars with every character on the PS2 version which means I never unlocked the handcannon! :(

So excited for this game!

Why are people still grasping to this game, why should capcom even bother making a new RE

It's a fantastic game in 60fps for the first time as well as getting all the benefits of being a proper PC title. It's a pretty big thing.

Oh, right. I'm thinking of when they added Move support to RE5.

Yep, crashes his house with a gun drawn, speaks a foreign language, and shows pics of young women. Nothing stand-your-groundish here.

Oh god I'm going to hell.

Well it's on Capcom to try and make a better game!
