Watch_Dogs Release Date and new Trailer coming today?

I really hope the extra development time as helped. Either that or we could have another AC3 on our hands - a game that simply had too many hands in the cookie jar. I'm trying to stay optimistic, hopefully the new trailer will help rebuild my hype.

I would not trust book release days when coming to determine the release of a game. They can change. For reference, the Prima guide is stated for June 30:

Normally I'd agree with you, esp. considering we're talking about a game whose release date has been all over the place. However in this case it at least tracks with other recent art books of Ubi IPs like the AC series; all the information I could find on their art books showed them releasing the same day as the game. The 6/30 date has been around because that's the official end of Q2, which was the reported revised launch window for WD when news of the delay broke last October.

I dont that will happen to Watch Dogs. They have one shot, they can't disappoint people with bad gameplay or game breaking bugs, or else the game/series is doomed from the beginning. This is their first game in the series, so thats probably why they took that extra development time.

Every time I watch a footage from Watch Dogs, I get shivers down my spine. There is this free-your-self matrix style feeling that I love. I can't wait for them to take it to the next level.

Being able to use the "hack" ability is pretty cool, though having just finished AC4 (my first AC game) I am seeing a lot more of that game's DNA in the vid you shared. Unfortunately it doesn't really do anything for me. I hope that the extra time Ubisoft needed wasn't simply to clean up visuals and lock down res/frame rates, but possibly introduce some new mechanics to make it feel fresher. If the sole differentiator here is that you can use the hack ability to fuck with people a la a more advanced "berserk dart", I'm going to be disappointed.

They need to build up the hype for this game again.

But more importantly they have to show us a game that looks fun. I feel like WD has everything except the 'fun' appeal that GTA has.

They need to lighten things up a bit.

Well the reason for the delay still remains a code to break.

"I think one of the fascinating things about this industry is that you can go from genius to idiot in an extremely short time frame.

We know a lot of you are probably wondering: Why now? We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.

I sort of understand what you mean. I have for example invested many times in Witcher II and when I switched to Skyrim it didn't do anything for me as well (if you mean it like that).

I am personally really digging its main character and the ability to "bring the city down to its knees". There is something revolutionary with how the game is but that is me.

Hopefully they will have added more new stuff like you said.

Have this on pre-order since 9 April 2013. Hope the wait is worth it. The new 20nm Maxwell GPU better be out by then as well :)

My prediction?

June 3rd!

Why?

This is the Tuesday after the weekend normally celebrating National Hacker Day (well, Civic Hacking Day). Makes way too much sense! National Civic Hacking Day was June 1-2 in 2013, this years details are coming soon.

I have for example invested many times in Witcher II and when I switched to Skyrim it didn't do anything for me as well (if you mean it like that).

I'd say those are two dramatically different games, even if they are in the fantasy rpg genre. What I meant was that, having just finished (as in, last week) AC4 and its DLC, the mechanics, mission setup, pace of play, map layout, etc.. are still pretty fresh in my mind. In that video you linked to-- which is nearly 6 months old at least-- I could identify all of those things that I encountered in AC4. The AC franchise is Ubi's big open-world IP and they've made a bunch of them so it would make sense for them to carry over elements they feel have been successful for them into this new franchise, but the vibe I got from the vid was "oh, that hacking mechanic is cool but I've seen all the rest before". What I hope is that the hacking isn't the sole thing that separates Ubi's new open-world game from their older one.

I am personally really digging its main character and the ability to "bring the city down to its knees". There is something revolutionary with how the game is but that is me.

Most open-world games eventually get to the point where you can "bring the city to its knees" though. You advance enough to be OP and do whatever you want (within the constraints of the game). I've no doubt the novelty of screwing around with subways, traffic lights, forklifts, etc.. will be awesome the first few times you do it, just like hijacking a fighter jet from an airbase, firing upon a fishing village's gas station, then parachuting to safety while the jet crashes into traffic was a blast in Just Cause 2. It has its limits though.

Hopefully they will have added more new stuff like you said.

For the IP's sake, I just hope it was worth the wait. New blood is always welcome.

Hypeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! : D
I seriously cannot wait for the re-reveal. Back in like October, when I got out of my fiction course, my brother texted me stating it was delayed...I was so shocked, considering this was THE next gen game!

I didn't intend to tease a soon just after this thread yesterday I was hopeful we'd hear something today and this is all I could find. I'm starting to loose interest personally, same with Driveclub tbh.

Sooo.. GDC?

I'm not sure if it is a good idea to wait until then. We will probably see a lot of new and good stuff there... more interesting than a game that has been revealed months ago. Ubi would have a hard time building up the same hype again.

Sooo.. GDC?

Could be sooner. UBI announced the date for Trials Fusion out of nowhere yesterday. So, they may have had an event recently where they showed off some games. Which would mean the embargo for each would slowly lift (similar to what we saw with Sony recently).

Delayed? I bloody well hope not, couldn't take another Watch dogs E3.

??? I take it you mean the wait?

I was talking about when the game was originally delayed like back in October...
edit:realized I said the word "just". My bad. I edited my post. Sorry for the confusion. D :

Lol August, If that were the case I'd reconsider my purchase as Destiny should be around the corner & I don't think I'll have the time to put into both games tbh.

You got it confused. GDC Europe is in August, the GDC people are referring to is the "original" in San Francisco that happens in early March.

Nope. The impressions that came out of Trials Fusion yesterday (on the European side anyways) were part of a press trip to Finland and Redlynx's offices in Helsinki. The only event there was just for Trials.
