There's absolutely no chance that Sony would ever make a Demon's Souls 2 (right?)

If I were a SCE exec I'd be pushing pretty hard to make it happen. Namco already did the hard work of doubling the series' fan base by putting it on Xbox and PC. An exclusive souls game could entice a decent chunk people to get a PS4 or at least make it a more attractive console. The only problem is that there is probably zero chance of getting FROM to make it. They could get another studio to do it but it just wouldn't be the same.

If Sony actually wants to make native software for Vita I can see it happening. Demon's Souls is too close to Dark Souls to make a PS4 release possible without stepping on the toes of Namco Bandai. Namco Bandai's too big of a PlayStation supporter for Sony to want to do that.

Sony on the other hand probably wouldn't want to make Demon's Souls 2 on their own for three reasons.Firstly they were not the creative forces behind the original game and this means that if they tried to do it they would be greeted with doubtfulness from the media and the fans.Secondly they are probably not sure if they can make a good DS game without the help of FS.I don't think they would want to make just a bad copy of the original.And thirdly if they tried to make DS2 on their own,it might had bad repercussions on their future relations with FS.

Actually there's only one reason Sony won't do it. Somebody else is doing it for them for free. Seriously, from sony's standpoint what would be the point in investing in something that would probably turn out very similar and compete with/cannibalize each other's sales? It will never happen as long as namco and from keep making he games themselves.

Atlus wouldn't necessarily know that for certain, but at the same time a new From Software + SCE Japan Studio game wouldn't have to be Demon's Souls 2 either.

We pretty much have to assume that a Souls-like game collab by From Software and SCE Japan Studios is on the way given the extremely un-subtle hints that Sony employees and insiders have dropped recently on GAF.

Even Sony employees apparently have no idea what goes on the land of rising sun which in its chaotic anarchy glory, houses the maestro of polyphony & the man eating eagle.

I wouldn't expect an Atlus employee not based in Japan to know. :p

Personally I don't want anyone touching the series besides From, and it seems unlikely at this point for them to bother. What Sony should do is co-develop a new Kings Field game. I think a really competent first person rpg by From, with the weirdness they tend to deliver, could help if the marketing is right. Especially in the West.

Dark Souls was Demon's Souls 2, for all intents and purposes. Don't get me wrong, I like that world and the lore and whatnot, but it won't happen.

Fine, FINE game that was.

There's definitely the possibility of them outsourcing the IP to another developer if they think it's worth it.

Lol, yeah I guess shouldn't worry to much, but that PR dude should know better than just flat out deny even the tiniest possibility of it happening, if he doesn't know anything about it.

Well I still am a believer, I'd be okay with either a DS clone or a new King's Field.

No. To be honest I don't give much credence to what the "insiders" on GAF say anyway. Half the time they are wrong. Just recently one directly contradicted another. I see smiley faces and claims posted before every conference and people's hype goes through the roof. When it all fizzles into nothingness and disappointment those smiley faces are forgotten.

Demon's Souls. Dark Souls. The more the merrier.

And nobody knows what's up with Miyazaki either.

lol @ all the people painting others as fanboys because they want DeS 2. You're as much of a fanboy as they are. They want a sequel to a game they enjoyed, you don't want them to have a sequel because you don't want to buy a PS platform to enjoy it.

DemonNite is a Sony employee who said some pretty blatant things about a Souls or Souls-like game being worked on by From Software and Sony. At this point, we're just waiting for the other shoe to drop and guessing which event they'll reveal it at.

Yeah, this is the kinda stuff that's turned me off to insider posts.

Truly hope Demon's Souls 2 is a real thing, but, I'm done getting my hopes up.

Which makes sense for him to generate hype in order for people to have a positive thinking about what may come on a recently launched console that can always use some good word of mouth.

I'm convinced that Demon's Souls 2 will some day come out (or a game that is a spiritual succesor to Demon's Souls) not because of what the "insiders" say but because it actually makes sense.Sony would be stupid to waste this wild card they have in their hands.They need the support of hardcore gamers to spread the PS4 brand and what better way to do that than making a title that is spedifically targeted for them.

The only way I see Demon's Souls 2 working (in relation to Dark Souls 2 and confusing the market with two "souls" games) is if Sony can get it out in a reasonable amount of time and become the definitive 'next-gen' version of that experience. Beat the DS2 next-gen port or DS3 to the punch.

Why someone who supposedly likes the series would be against more Souls games unless he is some fanboy who doesn't want one console to have more than the other?

There is already a Demon's Souls 2 game, it's called Dark Souls. Demon's Souls 3 is coming out real soon. I wish people would stop clinging to it because it reeks of desperation, a well received PS exclusive that slipped through their fingers.
