Amazon censoring Titanfall reviews - Must hit dat 5 stars rating.

Thanks to this thread I reported one of the 1 star reviews because the reviewer indicated they didn't buy the game. Thanks, OP for helping ensure Titanfall gets a higher star ranking!

Their cable TV commercial (that I can't ever find online) is way slicker than their online youtube vids... "used by the most fortune 500 companies" - they must have made bank with some big clients in the last year to become some publicly visible this year.

The whole idea of this kind of thing being a non-secretive service irks me almost as much as flagrant, unapologetic plagiarism does.
Hahaha
I love how the comments are full of shills.

So looking at it now, there are more 5 star reviews removed than 1 or 2 star reviews. So doesn't kinda nuke the whole "trying to hit that 5 stars" part.

It is weird they are being removed, but it makes no sense that if it was to give the game a manufactured high rating, it makes no sense to remove a load of 5 star reviews.

That means trolls have shifted balance.

The conspiracy theory here is embarrassing. If you want to see what kind of energy would fuel trolls and counter trolls, just look at this thread.

Doesn't even have to be games.

Is the OP of that thread even a verified purchaser?

I imagine Amazon is having trouble removing the trolling reviews that should legitimately be removed [non-verified, obvious troll] and some verified legit reviews got hit in the crossfire

The entire saga surrounding people who are salty about this game continues to amaze.

Just realize that your continued anger about this game, the excitement surrounding it, and the great review scores, and now the attempt to create fake drama, only underline for everyone else how much you really care about the game.

Doing everything in your power and using your resources to attempt to make this game lose some sales in no way shape or form could be considered Caring.

Read the OPs other Amazon reviews. Check out his PS4 review.

Well he clearly bought it, it was an Amazon Verified Purchase.

he even provided a picture
James says:
Here is a nice picture of my Kinect with Titanfall before I traded it in at Gamestop. I am fine with the fact people love this game. I just did not like it and instead I found it no fun.

Now is it some vast conspiracy? I highly doubt it.

I'm thinking it could just be trolls tagging the negative reviews and the automated system pulls reviews until they can seen as clean.

It most certainly is about them caring. All this drama would not exist if the game was coming to the PS4. They're upset about that, thus they care.

That sounds exactly like caring to me.

"the work or practice of looking after those unable to care for themselves"," esp. sick and elderly people."
"the caring professions"

So there is an art of caring for the people who may make the terrible choice of buying titanfall so giving it just a plain out 1 out 5 stars and say it sucks.

At Least give it a 2.5-3.5 and be convincing and these caring people might be able to trick on the fence buyers.

This is possible too. Does amazon remove a review until the edits are approved?

No, but they do temporarily remove comments that are spammed too much until they're up for review. Which would make sense, radicals for the X1 and PS4 are probably only targeting the top and bottom comments as Spam. Explains why things like 2 star ratings are barely, (if at all,) affected.

Yeah, it has brought out the worst in both sides. One side criticize and downplaying titanfall to an extreme. While the other side rubs it in the face about Sony and no games and downplaying sony exclusives. Height of console wars lol :p

I think these reviews must be pulled by some automated system. I don't see this one and I saw the top five star review disappear and then now it seems to have reappeared.

Most likely. Two factions are reporting them en masse and it's auto taking them down.

So legit 5 star reviews are getting removed as well? Bizarre.

I think the theory that any flagged review automatically gets removed might be what's going on here.

Amazon already pulled the review I reported. Titanfall must be getting flooded with questionable reviews so Amazon is probably taking a kill 'em all and sort 'em out later approach to reported reviews.

edit:
LOL

I just placed an order for the game, posted a review and then canceled my order. It still shows me as verified purchaser

haha

I believe you have a window to review before the system stops adding that tag to your reviews.

The way I look at it, Amazon has every right to remove NON VERIFIED PURCHASE reviews for their items. I have no problem with that. People can just go bash an item they do not own, because they don't like it. Or, in the case of video games, because of Console Wars.

However, if they are going to have reviews, and share them on their site, they should at least keep all the VERIFIED PURCHASE reviews, whether they are negative or positive.

And do this for every product. People shit on review scores for all types of products. I have seen poor reviews for a product because of the way that Amazon shipped or packaged it, which has nothing to do with the quality of the product.

However, I have never seen this happen on Amazon, or heard of it before. That makes this pretty, uhm, weird? Why now? Why this game? After the paid for positives debacle Microsoft went through with youtube, then finding out EA has run similar promotions with Machinima as well, this is hard for me to find as a coincidence.

Maybe this is just some hacker attack, like Gies was claiming happened to the Xbox Live outage on Xbox One yesterday. /s

You need a better dictionary .

Well there's clearly something going on with it because they're still disappearing. So what makes the most sense? To me the most logical answer is people are reporting the reviews and getting them auto removed.

Could test it on one of the reviews that's been up for awhile and see if it gets removed.

edit: and it just dropped from 113 reviews to 94. Both good and bad being removed.
