Why would a company with tons of business people and Lawyers not have built in clauses to account for sales level and have the payment adjust. Are those just not done? Seems pretty short sighted.

Becoming the biggest franchise in the world ended when EA made the decision to keep the first game in the franchise xbox console exclusive. It is tough for sequels to gain major traction when the original game didn't come out for the platform. TitanFall 2 will do good numbers on PS4, but if Respawn wanted the biggest franchise in the world the first game wouldn't have skipped being on Playstation.

For reference, Infamous 2 sold 369K its first month out. I think Second Son will beat this number.

No. I guessed 105k in the npd thread, but you can dig up the post... all i said was "it was a shorter month so im guessing lower numbers across the board." After coming in second place the month before I got absolutely fucking slaughtered today. Way underestimated the Wii U. Way way way way undersold the xb1. And I underestimated the PS4 by a good 50k. I was awful this month. But no, I had no 'inside info' on it. The previous month I did. I knew the first two weeks of january from their internet projections which is why when I lowballed in the thread and people thought I was nuts... i ended up doing really well

Titanfall is a console exclusive launching around the same time as a genuine exclusive on PS4 with inFamous. I don't see how you can split them and say Xbox has had a better treatment of software over the first two months of this year

I... am having a hard time of understanding what you are trying to say.

I don't think Xbone had better software in the January or February, I'm saying that there were more people who were willing to buy the Xbone early to get Titanfall, rather than purchasing both at the same time. I think that there were many people who were willing to buy the xbone and just settle with a lesser known game, and many who were probably willing to buy a PS4 over an XBone decided otherwise since the PS4 has had such a massive supply constraint in the past month. Sure, people who were wanted the PS4 were going to get the PS4, but those people who were on the fence might have taken the Xbone instead for satisfaction now rather than wait for the PS4 in the future.

I dunno, Sonys projections would assume people aren't buying Titanfall elsewhere. Clearly EA is missing out on money but people that want to play TF are gonna play it. Maybe not on Xbox One but they're gonna play it. Hell look at that thread about PS4 owners buying a hypothetical TF. Most said no.

Even if that's the case the damage is already done. What the heck is ea gonna do for sony make tf2 an exclusive?! Sony played there cards right, killed it at the February. Event, killed e3, killed the launch and had the world being proud to say I'm a gamer. That hype isn't gone but it would have been exponentially better for tf to debut on the machine with the most hype. Lost opportunity, thank you ms...by the time something gets announced for ps4 ppl will be bored with the game. MS are going to take over this industry one day, deserved or not, they just seem to make the right moves in the u.s market. All the Indy love for ps4 and the biggest one is a friggin exclusive disc based release for 360. Sony needs to step up if they want market leadership.

That Sony and EA tidbit is interesting. Figured EA didn't think that Sony would have such better sales because they clearly betted on Microsoft from the get go but I guessed they at least had some safety clause in the contract.
Would be interesting what life of the product really means and if they try to get a Titanfall for Playstation out fast.
