NPD Sales Results for February 2014 [Up2: PS4/XB1/Wii U/360 Hardware, BD/Poke/DK]

Then I'm not sure what you are arguing about. Basically I said XBone sales are increasing because of Titanfall so the monthly sales gap is closing and XBone will sell more in March.
-135k to -30k to +???. You just said the same thing.

But the PS4 was supply constrained in Jan and Feb. Now that PS4 supply will be better in March, your gap observations probably won't continue in the same pattern.

If we assume 150K we get 262k (2012) -> 189k (2013) -> 150K (2014) unless I have my historic numbers wrong.

That sounds about right. It's definitely not good news for the 3DS, but then it hasn't been good news for the 3DS since November when all that careful planning just never came through for them in the end.

OK.
I heard that the PS4 is not actually supply constrained at all, and that Sony has a warehouse full of consoles that have been withheld from distribution.
Believe it, don't believe it... but don't argue with me, I'm just passing on info.

Oh junior....you're gonna get clipped by mods with that jibberish

And you are? That's the difference.

Edit: That did not turn out as you expected.

Oh snap, better verify yourself quick freefornow, otherwise you might not be so "free" anymore.

I hope he gets a name changed to "Serving5to10fornow" if the info proves to be false.

Down YOY (189k for 3DS last year), and way down gen over gen. PSP did 243k in the comparable February 2008. NDS did 588K that month.

U.S. market is going though the opposite of what Japan is going though, even though the cause is the same. The competition from mobile is helping to contract the console market in Japan, and the handheld market in U.S.

Assuming these numbers are right, 3DS would be down YOY even if vita sold 0 but likely it's 150K - 160K

That's got to terrify Nintendo. Where are they going to make money next year?

If people are watching commercials on YouTube it can also be because the company is paying to have it run as pre-roll before other videos.

As for the "google searches" point, just no. Even with "infamous" being a real word it's still not nearly as popular a search as Titanfall. It only was briefly when "Lord Infamous" from Three 6 Mafia died.
He didn't say google searches alone, he cited them as part of a whole collection of data aggregated from multiple sources. Explicit Google searches may not be the strongest source of signal in this instance. They don't have to be.

Meanwhile my Google Now screen has been feeding me updates almost daily on Infamous recently, even though I've never done a formal search for the game. They seemed to figure out I'm at least generally interested in the game (which I am) and they're using the same kind of signals as Sony is, I'm sure.

Here is what it looks like when you put second son.
If you do it by year, they are about the same

The same amount of views since october vs the same amount of views from 2 weeks ago.

You don't think there is a difference there?

Someone with marketing knowledge needs to get up in this bitch. They have this shit down to a science right now. I am not one of those people, but I've talked to them. They all say "DONT SLEEP ON INFAMOUS!"

Sony also used it's own metrics in a meeting with EA last week and showed them what they would have sold on the ps3 and ps4. The money EA took from MS doesn't even begin to cover it. The EA guys went over the math and agreed. EA is in full "We're so fucking sorry, Sony" mode currently.

Also, Titanfall 360 is 30 fps. That's just for free for reading my post.

Im calling bullshit on this. I think Infamous will do fantastically well for the series and wont be too far behind WW but I do not think it will beat Titanfall by any stretch.

I understand that there may be a high view count on youtube for official videos, but that ignores the massive amount of user made videos for titanfall. People didn't need to watch official walkthroughs/ videos for titanfall because there were mirrors EVERYWHERE.

As for twitter traffic, that will always be a very fickle beast that can't really be translated into sales expectations. The Xbox one has trended higher than the PS4 for all of feb and look at the numbers.

Preorder data is interesting, but it means little as the bulk of sales are not made through preorders.

Hopefully next month creamsugar will be drop soft software sales numbers with Titanfall and Infamous. Just read that EA is expecting 2.4 million Titanfall sales in March and 6M for the year, that sounds crazy. The whole life of 360 it only had seven games sell that many copies, and they're expecting that in 9 months on a new platform.

Hey dumb question since digital is higher margin and many are full price and not even discounted. .. how many retail sales does it take to match the revenue of a digital sale?

Like is a digital sale the equivalent of say 1.20 or 1.5 retail games for example?
