Ok this is getting ridiculous. Is this a bug that I keep getting legendary set piece recipes that are level 23-30 on my 60 in torment? It just keeps happening! I tried making a piece from the recipe and yup, it's level 23. WTF

Recipes, and the items crafted from them, are specific levels, it's not a bug.

It's not a bug but they claim they will make a pass at trying to upgrade these low level legendary/set items to be made at your level with appropriate stats. When that will happen is anyone's guess given Blizzard's extreme lethargy at such things.

The worst part is that Blizzard is one of the few developers to actually employ writers, and they do a lot of contract work with decent novelists for tie-in books besides. And yet so much of their plotting and dialogue is still so bad, made all the more noticeable by how some of it manages to be good in spite of themselves. I can't tell if it's that everyone there produces wildly variable quality, or that there's just a couple talented guys who keep getting stuck writing for tertiary NPCs.

I blame Chris Metzen

That feeling when a ring drops, and you've been waiting for an SoJ, and it turns out to be an SoJ....

...and then it's Lightning damage. Shit. I wanted cold. Still a good equip though.

So I had a streak of luck yesterday while doing uber boss runs. Legs and organs were falling for me. I got two of my crusader leveling pieces too, including a rather badass hellfire ring.

This doesn't excuse it, but to be fair, a lot of the optional NPC dialogue is pretty decent as far as games go, it's just that the main plot (and particularly, the aforementioned Act 3/Act 4 villain dialogue which almost exclusively consists of "you beat X but you'll never beat Y") dialogue is terrible.

Yeah, I mean, I like Lyndon because he's a smug bastard and he knows it, and Kormac because he's such an exuberant meathead, and Shen because everybody loves Shen. I even like Zoltun Kulle for being delightfully genre savvy about how nonsensical the plot is and having great delivery. And when the player characters talk to the four* of them they suddenly sparkle with personality that's completely missing in their interactions with anyone else. Someone was really proud of that "You were dead the moment you killed Cain!" line and thought it was super badass because fucking everybody says it and it's awful every time.

And then there's Leah and Adria, both of whom are utterly unlikeable ("ha ha Uncle Deckard and his crazy stories hang on let me shoot this zombie with my secret death magic") and the latter of the two is so blatantly a villain it hurts, and the player even calls Leah out on that fact before we ever meet her! And then it's brushed aside and everyone goes along with everything she says no questions asked until Kulle points out that the whole scenario's awfully contrived and the player blows him off like there's suddenly no reason to be suspicious. WoW has a lot of stupid writing, but at least they draw the line at dumb and don't cross over into insulting.

Enough ranting about things everyone already knows and agrees on, but christ it's terrible and I don't know how anyone involved with the project signed off on it.

*and Eirena who is written decently but whose voice acting hits the brain like Navi's, with the bluntness of a cold ice pick.

It's not a bug but they claim they will make a pass at trying to upgrade these low level legendary/set items to be made at your level with appropriate stats. When that will happen is anyone's guess given Blizzard's extreme lethargy at such things.

Not bloody likely, not when separate level 70 versions of every pattern already exist.

I'm just coming back to the game now after a long break.

Is there anything I should be selling on the AH before it goes down?

I mostly have a bunch of gems and crafting materials. If so, RMAH or Gold AH?

I just sold Plan: Hallowed Defender on AH for 25m gold I feel so good. I found it dropped during cota run with three other gaffers.

I liked Zoltun because his "screw both sides" mentality makes complete sense. A shame that they just had him go megalomanical when you have to kill him. Some ambiguity would have been nice.

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?

So uh I just beat the game on Expert last night at level 54.

...Now what?

Get to 60, play on Torment difficulty. Lose sanity by repeating the same content over and over, get at least 100 paragon levels. :p Getting the plan for the infernal machine or even crafting an hellfire ring would be nice (will give you an idea of what endgame content will be at 70).

It's kind of funny because if you listen closely he doesn't REALLY do anything to warrant killing him, at least not immediately. He's just like "Black soulstone is finished you guys. Hey maybe we should join forces, y'know?" and the PC is like "NOPE YOU MUST DIE" and then you kill him.

Although there was no way it couldn't end like that with that hilariously obvious evil-laugh-when-I-disappear thing going on.

Zoltun was really well done ... except for that "MUAHAHAH I'M TOTALLY A BAD GUY LET ME LAUGH EVEN MORE EVILLY TO REINFORCE THAT POINT."

Considering how badly the Horadrim messed things up you can sympathize even more. Especially as their motivation for chopping him up boiled down to "we're just keeping our heads down, don't want to get whipped by our betters."

I don't understand the RNG sometimes... i killed Diablo sooner with my girlfriend on Expert on our lvl 60 characters, and all he dropped was 3 or 4 yellows, now i kill him all alone on Hard with my lvl 53 DH and he drops 6 yellows, 4 gems and 2 legendary rings. The fuck?

True RNG.

It's almost too random.

So I'm guessing the Hallowed Plans are two drops? One for weapons and one for armor?

Four yellows is the usual drop for characters that've already been through the game and killed him once. You only get the lootsplosion for the first kill, and in particular you got two guaranteed legendaries out of the deal, one for killing an act boss for the first time while below level 60 and one for killing Diablo for the first time at all. No RNG involved.

One drop. It's seven weapons and a shield.

keep in mind 1 of the legendaries was guaranteed.

Tal Rasha's Allegiance ammy :D.

How do people do normal clears so quickly? It took me 50 mins to go through Act I as fast as possible, with 25% movement speed and teleporting whenever it was up. Just lucky guesses on paths?

Pretty much describes all the villains in the game sadly lol.
