I'm a sucker for interesting horror games that do their best to stand out in the sea of Resident Evil or Amnesia like titles, and I do have a soft spot historically for 1600s New England colonies, but I'm always hesitant as action horror titles are the easiest type to disappoint me.

Something really bad. The store's half-loaded and the prices there differ from what's on the store pages. i.e. CK2 is 75% off on the front page, but there's no discount on the store page for me. FUBAR!

Valve has to make some sort of statement about what the fuck is going on with Steam because this downtime is getting absolutely bonkers.

Is the Crusader Kings II Collection worth $19.99? I'm a sucker for strategy games like this.

If you like grand strategy games at all, you cannot go wrong by purchasing CK2.

In non-Steam-is-down news, I've finished I/O. 41 hours, 100% completion.

Someone in the VN thread summarized the game as "basically what if Kojima wrote Evangelion and mixed in some Parasite Eve", and hot damn if that isn't true. The actual concepts being thrown about are amazing, execution is somewhat broken though.

If you're into VNs, and want to read something about introns, recursive realities, inverted arrow of time, collective unconsciousness and quantum superposition, and how they relate to standard VN gameplay mechanics, have a go.

Haha, unfortunately at this juncture of my life if I spent big on hardware I wouldn't have any money to spend on Steam. I currently have two 2GB 670s, which I intend to replace with two 4GB* 870s in time for The Witcher 3, assuming acceptable performance gains.

* I'm hoping the 870 will be 4GB by default.

Backpack.tf says 10.5-11 keys for the frying pan -- I'd try for 11 and then go down to 10 if necessary (unless you have a few ref sitting in your inventory there's no point in bothering with a fractional price). Ellis' cap, on the other hand, is virtually worthless.

I'd say Old Gods is essential, it allows you to start 200 years earlier, pretty fun to play as the pagans and go around fucking shit up. I think you can get CK2 with the good DLC for $20, though it's probably best to just get the $20 pack + Old Gods.
