PBalfredo earns the Normal Badge, defeating me 2-1! Congrats!

On a side note, screw confusion.

GG mackelol. Very tense. I thought you had me at the beginning of the third match after Will o' Wisp missed and you took out two of my heavy hitters. I was surprised how much damage Cinccino could do, even when burned. I lucked out when Galvantula's Red Card, which saved your Staraptor in the first match, doomed it here.

Popping on now. You got last post'd so I saw it late, my bad!

Edit: congrats! I played like garbage but you have a strong team. Off my game tonight. Ggs! Want a Gible?

Good games, and thanks for the battles! I had a while to prepare for it, so I knew what to do this time to win!

I'm good on the Gible front, but thank you for the offer anyway!

Sorry for not updating the Battle Videos post; had a busy few days. It's all done now anyway.

Also I'm temporarily changing my Gym opening times: for the next three weeks, I will be available 10:00-18:00 GMT weekdays, and 10:00-17:00 GMT weekends.

Daedalos42 has earned his Permafrost badge in the rematch. Epic Scizor is epic. All your other team changes were really good too. Congrats.

Gym leaders, if you could have an in-game gym, what would your gym's puzzle gimmick be?

A hail/snow storm where you have to make your way through it with "safe zones" maybe like the Flying Gym in Black 2. In these safe zones you have to fight trainers. And you can go multiple ways to eventually make it to me.

My Gym would be a vertical labyrinth that you have to reach the deepest floor. The deeper you get the darker the rooms get, making it easier to trainer battles. The only light that you have is from the hole you came from. And Flash doesnt work.

Mine would be inside a flower arranging shop and I would be a florist and you'd have to navigate through my gym while being under the influence of cannabis and the many other scents and perfumes that my gym contains.

Missteps cause your party to suffer poison, sleep, or paralysis. All my subordinate trainers are hidden in the bushes so it's impossible to avoid them all.

You have to do this all while cutting the right plants in order to stop the gasses in the air.

Plant order is randomized like the Vermilion Gym every time you leave. You are forced to bring items or else redo the entire puzzle if you go reheal.

If unprepared, there is a 50% chance of you blacking out in the gym each time.

Once you find me, we have a gym battle and if you defeat me, you win an Azalea badge and the Energy Ball TM.

Fandagox lost 1-2 to ColossalLazy. Fun games!

But why my 90 accuracy moves miss in the most important moments T____________T

And my done for today.

Sorry for being temporarily aloof for anyone wanting to challenge the Rock Gym. Long story short my nephew was born today and its been kind of crazy. My schedule for the next few days will be a little dicey, but at the very least I'll open up something for challenges by Wed/Thurs, even if it's just accepting Multi battles. Though if I find some time I'll definitely try and squeeze in the team repairs I desperately need.

You really got me on that first match. Really interesting team. I think I will try to battle once all of the gym leaders with my current team before I decide to do changes.

Let me see... it'd be a two-story building that'd look like a rain forest. The ground floor would be full of vegetation and rotten trees that'd act as obstacles, while the second floor would be on top of some smaller trees, with a thick layer of fog that'd make it hard to see what's below, and the gaps between the trees preventing you from going wherever you want. There'd be larger trees that'd be taller than the ones on the first floor as well.

Circular shadows would be cast from above at specific spots. Some would be robo-spiders (kind of like those on Sonic 2's Chemical Plant Zone) that grab you and act as one-way transportation between floors, while others would be trainers that drop down to challenge you. I'd probably be waiting inside a large, hollow tree in the center of the gym that you could only access by dropping down from above.

Lost 2-0, but this was really interesting for my first battle, though made some mistakes sometimes... ^^;

The battle videos:
1st battle: WZRG-WWWW-WWW6-DAZT
2nd battle: A5EW-WWWW-WWW6-DAPX

(I still don't know well which battle music is which, so kinda went with a random one for the first battle, and for the second battle went with just the default trainer one)

Number 8 is EPIC.
I like number 3 too.

AFAIK, #1 is regular trainer battle theme, #3 is your rival's, #4 is the gym leaders' and #11 is the champion's. I've heard Team Flare's, E4's and team flare boss' as well, but I don't remember their numbers.

Anyway, my gym will probably be open to challengers in about ten hours (23:00 GMT). I have a backlog of three trainers, but I'd recommend that everyone who wants to battle PMs me, even if they've already arranged a match with me (except for Crimson0, who arranged it yestarday), since I'll probably end up leaving unconfirmed battles for last.

Until I saw these posts, I thought the online battle themes only went up to 4, like in the Battle Mansion (I could of sworn that I've cycled through them before and they only went up to four. Do they unlock or something?). I just did some online battles to check out the other themes.

1: Standard Trainer
2: Wild Pokemon theme
3: Rival Battle
4: Gym Leader Battle
5: Mega Lucario Korrina Battle
6: Team Flare Grunt Battle
7: Lysandre Battle
8: Xerneas/Yveltal Battle
9: Kanto legend Battle
10: Elite Four Battle
11: Champion Battle

I think I unlocked all songs past #4 after beating the league, but I might've gotten them after beating specific parts of hte game, since I never bothered to check.

Still, having to tap the song # text to change it and the text only showing a number made it quite unintuitive.

Excuse this double post, but here're the results of my latest challenge: Webs were spun, Pinsirs were mega evolved, and I ultimately defended I the Swarm Badge against Crimson's fellow mono-bug team!

I'd say not running a spinner/defogger was quite an issue against my Forretress and Galvantula, since rocks are one of our type's crippling weaknesses, and the nets were also a deciding factor in both games since several of our mons would most likely speed tie with each other. I didn't know Levanny could use Sticky Web and got caught off-guard by it, but on the other hand I felt like Illumise was kind of weak with only some support moves to offer, which is why I decided to only run aggressive pokémon, and had Forretress run Rock Slide so that it wouldn't be set-up bait as well.

Here're the videos if anyone's interested:
TDXW-WWWW-WWW6-DSV2 (game 1)
QT5W-WWWW-WWW6-DT2S (game 2)

Good games, props on being a fellow mono-bug user that has been terrorizing my fellow leaders, and I'll be looking forward to your next challenge!

So moody is the only ability explicitly banned? I thought the evasion clause took out sand veil and snow cloak?

These are just Smogon rules. VGC rules don't ban any ability or (currently) any legal move that a Kalos bred Pokemon could have. I believe the Moody ban is on top of all other rulesets to avoid shenanigans across all formats.

Oh, I understand moody's potential for comedy and rage. No problems there.

Yeah I answered my own question through the magic of google. Dunn why I had a mistaken impression of smogon rules.

Yeah, I'd prefer to have my own Volcarona and Forretress against you.
But I couldn't switch around my team and I might still not have them next time since I still have a number of other rematches to fights too(where the two wouldn't be as useful).
Also, actually being on the recieving end of Stick Web is pretty frustrating.
Aside from that, I'd guess I also need to find something to take on MegaPinsir.

I honestly expected you to run Crustle and/or Armaldo, since they can take a Mega Pinsir Return without fainting (unless rocks are up) and OHKO it back. Galvantula also survives a Quick Attack and KOs back with Thunder, since it outspeeds Return.

Since sharing stuff is fun, here's the analysis I did of our possible monobug teams:

I'd say Mega Pinsir is the elephant in the room. With rock support, it basically outspeeds and OHKOs everything but Galvantula (70-80% damage with QA + rocks) and Forretress. Even Scizor gets 2HKOed with Return into Quick Attack, with Pinsir only taking a single Bullet Punch at most. I'd say Forretress is our best counter for it, since it survives up to three Returns and can 2HKO back with Rock Slide. A single Swords Dance on Mega Pinsir is disastrous, as it basically lets Pinsir nuke anything from orbit without risking taking a single hit, so you might need to remove rocks to allow a Sturdy/Sashed mon to surive a return and OHKO back with Rock Slide, Firey Dance or Thunder.

I also only ran Scizor as a defensive measure in case you had a Crustle or Armaldo of your own, since there isn't much Volcarona and Pinsir can do to them before getting crushed by their STAB rock attacks. Galvantula is good all around with it surviving a Return from Mega Pinsir while also setting webs, but Levanny, on the other hand, doesn't seem like a good webber due to it dying instantly to Pinsir.

I didn't expect the web to be that important, but it works great for what's basically a mirror match, with speed ties all over the place. Rocks also discourage switching, since everything but Forretress, Scizor and Heracross takes obscene amounts of damage from it. Pinsir has the advantage of only taking 25% damage from it before mega evolving, but at the cost of risking speed drop from an active web.

I'll definitely be looking forward to our rematch!

I'm preparing a team for this!

Btw, what if you guys ran with 18 gym leaders like now + a champion? Say when someone defeats the 18 leaders, he is crowned champion and has to defend such crown against the next trainer that wins the 18 badges and so on.

Rock gym will reopen tomorrow.

I still may breed another thing or two in the future, but darn if I'm not starting to think rock is the worst type in the game, haha! Almost everything is built slow and bulky, but it's a terrible, terrible defensive type!

You must give in to The Dome! Lord Helix is decent, but Dome's one of the few rocks with decent speed that doesn't have paper-thin defenses. Then there's Aerodactyl, that's decent...
and then there's Archeops.

I feel your pain to an extent. Ice type isn't exactly defensive. But I do have better general speed than you. I suppose I'd concentrate on getting a sandstorm out to bulk up the SpD for rock types. Tyranitar is pretty beastly too.

Yeah, Tyranitar is the one Rock type I can think of that's been universally good (well, Terrakion, but that's a legendary). Aerodactyl has had its time in the sun as well, but other than that virtually everything else needs either TR or Rain to work at all. It's just so annoying/weird that they felt the need to give rock 5 weaknesses when most types have 2-3.

But oh well. I'll make do with what I've got, though I honestly hope GF puts some effort into helping the type. I didn't even really think of how bad Rocks have it till I got their gym.
