...I think I'll just wait for Toukiden 2

We needed a hammer more than a spear with a blade on it.

No. Naginatas are really cool looking weapons. I think it'll work like a mix between the Sword and the Spear.

Even if it's not a hammer, another slow weapon (gauntlets aside) would be useful for people that like heavy arms.

So every game should have the same weapon classes as MH?

I felt there was sufficient weapon selection in the original and they're adding more, what's the problem?

I'm kinda curious about the fire arms, to be honest. Hope they rework the ranged weapons in Toukiden 2. Something like Dragon's Dogma would be cool. Aim with L, shoot with R, move camera with the second stick, Square, Circle and Triangle activate different especial attacks.

Bow is great in Toukiden no need to rework anything.

And I hope they stay away from monster hunter as far as possible - if i wanted boredom simulator i'd buy 3DS ;)

Well that's down to preference about ranged. I'm not a fan but if the firearms are pulled off well and unique I would be very interested.

Good news. :)

Coz we might not be getting firearms.

The term seen in flying get info is 飛び道具.

This can include anything from stones being thrown, to shuriken, to bows(crossbows).

In a broader sense, firearms (aka guns) can be considered as such. However, in games, guns are categorized as guns. And similarly, bows are categorized as bows.

On the bad side, I can't find this supposedly part of the Flying Get on the online article of Famitsu or Kiwami's official website. :/

What the heck are you talking about?

Hammer is an effing fast weapon. Very fast. And very very mobile.

Damn, that's bad news. If there's only one new weapon it'll be a bit disappointing.
Isn't hammer the slowest weapon in MH?
Nope, Great Sword is. Hammer is next slowest though if I'm correct. ATX was talking about God Eater and every weapon is fast in that compared to MH.

I have such the gaming backlog that I haven't even finished the demo... but the little I played of it, I did like it. (I bought Monster Hunter 3U at the Capcom Community College event and never get time to play it so three events later I'm STILL HR1!) Trying to play through Danganronpa on Vita and Infamous: Second Son on PS4 as well as whatever else on PS3 and such these days... (and keep the new DVR clean)...

So... been wanting to pick it up, but since I don't know when I'll get to play it, been holding off... maybe wait to see if this version will be released here and just get it then, or should I just pick up the game now/soon since others are still playing the current release?

Really curious about these new weapons. Three new ones it quite a substantial upgrade! Hope there is enough new monster variety as well.

Bro I'm not so sure about the rules nowadays as I have not checked them in a while, but last I heard, scans can lead to bans I think.

No he should be ok with that, since its something Famitsu posted themselves and not an actual "scan" done by a non-official source.

I had a feeling this was going to happen, which is why had stopped playing the game way early. Looks like I was right lol.

Yeah, this is the usual preview from Famitsu, not an actual scan.

My bad guys, thanks for the heads up! Thought it was a scan at first and didn't want a poster finding himself banned suddenly.

It's a gun. I'm *kinda* in.

But I would have no doubts buying this if they were giant shurikens instead!

And yes, new weapons = new characters. One of them has already been announced.

Edit: They should honestly just ditch the PSP version.

i wonder if new weapons , mean new Allies in the story with new events ?

This previous article on Siliconera already showed a new ally that will be using the Naginata. As such, I would imagine it's safe to say there will be new allies for all the new weapons. It would definitely be a good way to allow players to get a general idea of how those weapons work with a group.

Having a firearm should definitely be interesting. I'm very much curious to see how that weapon will play out. Hopefully it will feel like it has a lot more impact in the way it functions than the bow does.

Its going to die eventually as it greatly holds back the PSV when it comes to development.

Well, it was probably really easy to make it a PSP/Vita game since more than half the work was already done with that version.

For Toukiden 2, I'm expecting a PS3/4 + Vita release. Most of their current IPs have followed that route (Musou games, Gust games, Deception IV...)

I'm disappointed and happy.

I'm happy that I never purchased the original Toukiden and so I can get this better version when it comes to NA, but I'm disappointed that these Monster Hunter-esque games are releasing updated versions one year after the original game launched. Seems that Japan doesn't understand DLC and patches.

They do also do patches and DLC, at least several of them. Toukiden has like 10 packs of DLC available.

Is there anything to be disappointed about though? Several of these games allow save transfer from the original game.

Actually, what's the difference between this and annual release of CoD? Japan could take that route and release Toukiden 2 straightly, but what's the difference then beside the numbers? I'm just saying this so we don't pretend that only Japan doing this since I'm not liking it either.

I'm disappointed a separate copy of the game is being made for a minor expansion on the original. I think its a disservice to the fans who bought the original game and now have to buy this new copy just for a wee bit more content when it could have easily been DLC.

Well the yearly COD games, I presume because I don't play them, have different stories, settings, weapons, characters, etc.

If Tecmo made a yearly sequels I wouldn't be complaining as long as the content justified the upgrade. I think a better comparison would have been to sports games, but we all know those a released yearly to milk the franchise.

New storyline, 3 new weapons, 3 new characters, double the number of the monster. I might Argue that KT could easily slap Toukiden 2 with that new contents.
If Tecmo were smart this would be PSV/PS4. I'll just wait it out for the sequel.

If SCEJ still involved in the sequel, Toukiden 2 probably will be for PS4/PSV. Hopefully.

.

MInor expansion ? How do you know that ? if anything it doesn't look like a minor expansion... we don't have the extend of the changes but they added new weapons , meaning new ways to fight, new way to customise ...so this means a LOT OF NEW GEAR and more story.

Every news about Kyoku indicate that it won't be a minor addition... where the hell did you get the "minor" thing ? ( and that's not counting the very high possibility of new mitama )

Again: we don't have the full extend of the changes in the game yet...

At this point you're complaining for no reason.

Do we know if we're getting this in the US? I know Tecmo did a survey for US/EU players on their feelings on Toukiden. So hopefully that means they understand we want more. :D

Those games offer 50+ hours of gameplay each. Well worth double dipping for orginal and update

TK liked the sales performance for Toukiden on the west, so it should be a safe bet.

I said that I loved the game on that survey they put a while ago. And I asked for New Atelier Rorona. So I'm quite happy with TK lately :)

Well, Western sales probably were around 100-150k and the localization was quite cheap (Japanese text + English subtitles) so they probably got some money back. Since this game is the "1.5" version they'll have half the game translated so it won't be that expensive to get it here either.

Toukiden 2 needs to be a PS4/Vita title. Make the Vita the lead platform, make the PS4 one 1080p, 60 fps and add some detail to character models, better textures and an improved lightning engine. People will be more than happy with that, considering Japan is not known for their graphical showcases.

Basically give it the same treatment they've given to Dynasty Warriors 8.

Meh, i would be ok if it was just a total remake of the old pyroteryx clone alongside his moveset, seems kinda lazy to be honest.
