Did you guys notice that in the Grenizard CG trailer, they showed Pokeball pokemon only? Almost all there were confirmed as pokeballs, except for: Darkrai, Smugleaf, Chespin, Togepi, one other one I can't make out.

I'll post a screenie of it in just a moment (unless someone's quicker than me).

I hate to break it to you but I wouldn't expect King K Rool in Smash. Even in the Smash Run they choose the tiki enemies from the DK series over Kremlins.

Kremlins were in the Smash Run trailer.

But K Rool won't be because they can't even be bothered to include him in the actual Donkey Kong games.

Last year, Gematsu was tipped off prior to E3 about six new characters supposedly set to appear in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and for Nintendo 3DS.: Last week, Gematsu was tipped off about Nintendo’s E3 character reveals for Super Smash Bros. But since we were unable to confirm the validity of our source, we refrained from posting the information. Of the six characters we were told would be revealed, three have been confirmed: Mega Man, Animal Crossing Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer. The three left remaining are Little Mac, Pac-Man, and your Mii.
There is no way this is real.

wow I would so main the chorus guys

and is it me or everyone looks amazing except link

he's gonna suck again ain't he?

I'd have to think Sakurai has enough awareness to not continuously tease Ridley like that if he's just going to be a stage hazard. The whole situation surrounding that character is rather odd.

Has anyone made a list of all the ATs now?

Confirmed Pokemon I can see around are:

Gen 1: Electrode, Meowth, Goldeen, Staryu, Eevee, Mew
Gen 2: Entei, Bellossom
Gen 3: Metagross, Deoxys
Gen 4: Palkia, Darkrai, Arceus
Gen 5: Meloetta, Victini, Keldeo, Kyurem
Gen 6: Chespin, Fennekin, Dedene, Spewpa, Gogoat, Xerneas
Also during the charizard/Greninja reveal trailer they show tons of pokemon appearing out of pokeballs most of which are pokemon confirmed to be in and a lot of them were ones that were previously pokeball pokemon.

I saw Togepi, Latias, Deoxys, Oshawott, Snivy, Zoroark, Swirlix, Gardevoir, Giratina, Kyogre, Inkay, Spewpa, Chespin, Suicune, Lugia and Snorlax. All of these pokeball pokemon appeared next to all of the already confirmed pokemon so I bet these are the rest of the Pokeball Pokemon which is pretty good and even distribution of different generations of pokemon.

I've been saying for years that if Waluigi was playable he should go under the Wario series because he's Wario's equivalent to Luigi. Maybe next Smash.....

He shouldn't be listed under the Wario series at all. He hasn't even had a cameo in a single Wario game.

Feel free to point out anything I might have missed from the Direct (particularly items or Smash Run enemies).

So, with moveset customization added, do we even need Falco/Wolf? Honest question. I'm not huge on competitive smash, but it seems like they could just be recreated with Fox anyway, or mixed and matched to make an ideal character.

The other was Inkay.

Also, regarding the bolded:

You can see Snorlax in the pic Serebii posted to Twitter, but he left it off the Pokeball page for some reason. He's gone to sleep, but I'll get him to fix it.

EDIT: Got him to add Snorlax.

Go away.
Wolf has 0 A-moves in common with Fox, and his special moves differ so significantly from Fox's that they might as well be considered entirely unique moves.

It seems that custom moves are special only.

And even if they extended to all moves, people like those characters for more than their moves; this isn't just about gameplay.

I doubt customization can go that far, nor will it be used much competitively.

Your first mistake is thinking that Wolf is a clone

Same Sakurai who just teased us with fake Palutena. If he really was JUST a stage hazard he'd have shown him already.

And it's the same Sakurai who explicitly said that Samus would no longer be able to turn into ZSS and that transformations are out. Then he shows ZSS.

Then again, these are probably the same people who thought Ness was cut from the game because "UP UNTIL NOW" happened.

Nintendo, actually pushing one of their games competitively? nah
(it could probably knock off Counter-Strike from #4 too, lol)

Hurts so bad, mang. Those Melee stream numbers at EVO...

Oh well. Assuming the netcode holds up and For Glory is stock and without a silly time limit (like 2 minutes or something), I can deal with FD-only. The ability to actually matchmake 1v1 with no items is crazy as fuck for this company.

Just so people know, For Glory mode doesn't look to be stock-based. There were no stocks shown and they explicitly said you could set stocks during friend play, which makes it sound like it isn't available for matchmaking.

I think the online features sound terrible. It's hardly better than Brawl and in some ways a step back. When compared to popular online games, it lacks basic stuff like playlists, lobbies, and stage select. It might not even have team battle, but I'll wait and see on that one.

The game will probably be heavily ripped for it after hype wears off and it is just a normal videogame in people's hands (which is what happened with Brawl).

This sounds a little too much like some BS hitching onto the first leak. They couldn't be bothered to name which Pokemon or the fact Pokemon Trainer isn't in it?

My dream roster would take some of the dupes (Fox and Falco, Lucas and Ness) and just make them alt-skins. I'd rather newcomers (or Mewtwo) take up those slots if need be.

My takeaways:

Tears
-pokemon trainer, RIP. One of the most unique characters they could have cut. Fuck you, samurai.

-moar pokeymans. I love the series and Greninja looks awesome, but Smash is supposed to be a tribute to videogames and nintendo franchises. They removed the single character that actually represented the gameplay of pokemon, and put in someone with a generic moveset. They need to just get it over with and come out with pokken fighters, and stop cramming non-avatar pokemon into Smash.

-The new Romano Rumor makes me think that that may be the extent of the new characters (given that there are a lot). I don't give a shit about the vast majority of them.

-No Wonder Red (see above)

-No Takamaru (see above)

Positives

+ Chorus guy from rhythm heaven would blow my fucking mind and make all of my above complaints moot.

It's worth noting that the wording is "boss characters." He never says "bosses." Boss could just be an adjective, meaning Ridley's still eligible to be playable, knowing how Sakurai trolls.

Also Psuedo Palutena matches up really well to the Palutena leak.

Removing all platforms in the "For Glory" stages shows a pretty big misunderstanding of the competitive scene. I hope they fix that at some point. More matches are played on Battlefield or Yoshi's Story than on Final Destination.

the thing is that they know that. They develop the game and they are not stupid. It doesnt make sense at all to pick battlefield and turn it into final destination in "for glory" mode. Something is wrong here... i am lost, really.

Some of these clones take almost no time/effort compared to "full" characters, and as such, Lucas didn't really take... say, Ridley's or Waluigi's place. And what moveset changes they have ultimately make them really different to use compared to the "original" character. I never oppose clones, clones mean MORE characters overall, and not they making it instead of other characters.

My friend Croco seems to believe that you can see Pikachu's tail in Ridley's talons. This could indicate a playable Ridley because he's possibly grabbing Pikachu and sized correctly for fighting.
Thoughts?

I wouldn't rule out Ridley just yet. There is still a chance, that Sakurai builds up the most epic troll in history since Metal Gear Soild 2. Because if you listen to his wording, he is technical right, there will be other boss characters on other stages ... like Bowser, Ganondorf, Donkey Kong or possible Ridley as player characters. Sakurai clearly knows, that many people really want Ridley into the game. It would be really cruel and not very funny to be just an asshole to them over this long time without an actual punchline. And as the Direct shows, he is this time listing really to the fans.

But i actually don't really care for Ridley much and happy that Little Mac made it and Mario looks freaking badass. My only problems is Final Destination only, since i think that Battlefield is a much more balanced and fun setup, and not having Stock-Matches as the the default for Random-Matches. Just make it Stock with a Time-Limit. The rest sounds fantastic... even if it's hard to wait for the WiiU-Version ... but the 3DS Version will cheer me up until Winter 2014 =)

Seems pretty likely. You should be able to set up a lobby with specific things. Like at least items vs no item, a stage rotation, stock and time settings. At least these things.

Didn't say that, but given how different mario's fireballs were, I feel like they're close enough that it's possible. If character's had to be cut this could be a way to attempt and compensate for it, at least.

Just and idea. We've yet to see any clones so until they're revealed I'm not counting anything out.
