The hardware limitation comes from the 360 and PS3 versions.

I thought however that the base hardware would be the new consoles. I did not expected it to be released for nextgen with that look at all... damn, thats bad! =/ Compared to the 1st footage that was looking so damn good that is really a let down.

After BF4 @ 900p at launch, perfect PS4 1080p streak continues.

Mercenary Kings is only 480x270.
PS4 isn't powerful enough to handle sprites, confirmed.

I guess It's kind of the same situation as Ground Zeroes? The last gen version is holding up the current gen version. :/

How do you even know it's Xbone footage? What gave it away? The horrible YouTube compression or the unique to Xbone 1183x609 resolution?

smh

The shit you get away with on here is ridiculous

Was going to retort tactfully, but thank god for being able to go into post history and being able to make the decision to not even bother.

Don't get mad at me. I'm just going by what XtaLarge had posted.

Thinks mods influence posters politics. Promoted to QAnon Editor.
IIRC early 360 games had to have mandatory AA and had to run at native 720p, something that was relaxed as it went on.

For example: I think Alan Wake on 360 looks better than Perfect Dark Zero on 360.

By went on you mean before release. Multiple launch games were sub-720P including PDZ, which was 640p no AA.

Mad at you ? Lol come on. I know you would like to think that of course.

Blatant trolling is a fine line and I'm the first to admit that I have no idea what that line means or how arbitrary it is.

Then why did you say to me on what you said? I don't get away with everything.

Nah, but when it comes to your (admitted) hatred of everything MS you have to admit that you do push the envelope. I have zero desire to see you banned, mostly because it's not my style to wish bad stuff on folks, but you do go pretty hard.

I'm just a big fan of Nintendo's products, as well as Sega's, & Sony's. I just want PS4 to succeed to prevent being held back by Xbox One on multiplats, & also want it to succeed to have many Japanese 3rd party games, because I've been mostly playing those kind of games since the 80's as a kid (as well as Arcade games).

Also, Xbox fanboys sometimes gets me irritated, & Microsoft's been pretty bad as a whole, not just with what they did with the last for years of the Xbox 360 & with what they did on Xbox One.

But Ryse looks blurry... :(

Nope, it's not. You may get that impression from looking at static screens, but the game itself isn't blurry at all. It's an incredible looking game, one of the best I've ever seen, PC included. The notion that it's blurry I think largely comes from people that haven't actually played it.

900p upscaled tp 1080p does create blur though, so he's right. It might not be that noticeable to you but the only way to avoid such blur is for games to run at the same or higher resolution as the screen they're being displayed on. The game definitely still looks good though and uses great AA.

Oh, please don't get me confused. I don't care what you do, why you do it or certainly what you spend your money on. I like all 3 companies, support them when they do good and freeze them out when they do wrong. The last thing I want to hear when I log on to GAF is how I'm fucking up the industry because I support *insert whatever*. I'm just telling you as a fellow GAFfer that I've seen people banned for being less aggressively fanboyish. I'm also not a mod so feel free to fly as close to the sun as you want.

It would still be substantially less blurry than a 720p game upscaled to 1080, which was the majority of games last generation (with a depressing nubmer even lower than that). I'm not sure I ever looked at Uncharted 2 and thought "woah this game is blurry". And I'm saying this as a PC gamer prmiarily. I agree 900p is sub-optimal in IQ terms, but there is certainly room for subjective interpretation here.

I have been banned before for being too fanboyish & going overboard on it, don't get me wrong. I just want a certain product to succeed based off of it's potential.

I just don't like it when a company chooses to screw over consumers & want them to fail to prevent them from being justified in their actions.

Oh joy, more fucking resolution/fps news...

Is it going to be like this for the entire 8th gen?

Well, it was like this last gen when it came to resolution differences. The only difference here is that it will be more common this time around and you didn't see it too often with the PS3. When it did happen, it was talked about.

People should come to expect it as people have the right to be informed and if the talk bothers anyone, they don't have to enter these threads.

I mean, these are differences on cross-gen games and early next-gen games so what happens when the GPU specific features are pushed more? (They better still push them).

It seems as though they have to put extra development resources into the Xbox One version compared to the other versions.
(Xbox One development cost > PS4 development cost?)

In any case for Xbox One, I'm guessing it'll end up being closer to 720p.

I'm still debating whether to get this for PS4 or PC.

I mean both will be 1080p, but I can get better details and textures and FPS on PC. And based on that downgradeton thread the PS4 version took a big hit from E3 2012.

But PS4 will have exclusive content, and if I don't like it or only like it enough to play once I can trade it in for something else and get some credit.

I have read that the PlayStation exclusive content is not so exclusive and is available in the PC version.

Trading PC games in is probably not possible in most places.

That's understandable if you feel that way. But in the future your flamboyant nature is going to make us shoot it out if you can't take off the blinders. Whether it be because you don't give credit where it's due or because you overlook a shortcoming. *bang* *bang*

J/K, those were blanks. Do your thing homie. I just don't like seeing otherwise decent posters resort to petty stuff to get their point across. Have some style. Throw a curl in it. Dread that nappy shit up, throw a shell in it. Damn, now I want to listen to Outkast.

The xbox one version is all but guaranteed to be 945p.

I'm just afraid of getting a lot of Ubi's open-world games on PC since they usually are extremely unoptimized. I'm hoping this one is different though.

When it comes to games like this, I prefer avoiding the headache and the issues by going with PS4, especially after seeing their recommended specs. Most other developers? I trust the PC version more.

Thats the resolution of the official pics released by ubisoft a few days ago.

Sounds like the esram is the bottleneck right now

Which I've heard from people way more knowledgeable than me. Just the whole setup really. Makes me wonder what the fuck was going on over there? I know their internal devs had to have been like, "aye, this shit ain't hitting 1080 bruh". I hope Dean is writing another book on the Xbox hardware development because that would be a must read.

It's not quite as you say. X1 can hit 1080p just like x360 could. But it can't do it with modern rendering techniques. When given a choice: X1 games can look a lot poorer in terms of lighting, shading, etc. or blurrier, devs will choose blurrier (lower resolution). And it's not because of the parity with PS4. It's because of the competition between their ports on PS4 and Sony exclusives.

I have no idea what people at Microsoft were thinking when planning the next 5-6 years of hardware life with so little foresight... probably 'TV, TV, TV, dog' indeed.

Ps4 version 1080p at 30fps
Xbone 900p at 30 fps.

That's my guess at least. We definitely aren't going to see this game running at 60 though.

Yeah, that's my point! You don't think any of the studios at MS wanted to do more but eventually figured out that they couldn't? I don't think the Forza reveal was strictly 'smoke and mirrors'. I think the E3 footage was indicative of what they thought they could hit at one point. Tools, hardware not being what they wanted, or a serious time crunch...whatever. I still wonder if devs thought they would have had more to play with.

Wait is that true ? so those pixels weren't on purpose then ...

The low-res look was definitely on purpose.

Ah... the advent of normal maps and the slime that covered every surface in every game after that.

Normal maps were used a lot on the original Xbox. That's parallax occlusion mapping.
