Nothing 'next gen' about this.

Christ, that's pushing Twilight Princess levels of terrible bloom.

Even with some extra polish you're fooling yourselves if you think there's any way a demanding, PC led, game is going to look comparable on consoles.

CPU-wise the consoles are rather lacking, but it's just flat-out wrong to say current PC GPUs are a full generational leap ahead of what's in the PS4.

It depends really. A single GPU, perhaps not (but they are rather powerful; in terms of raw shader processing capabilities, 780s and 290s are roughly 3x the PS4's GPU, 4 - 4.5x the Xbox One's). SLI or Crossfire a couple of those monsters and, well, yeah... a full generation, in raw shader processing that is.

Crysis had the advantage of being a PC exclusive game and Crytek wanted to go all out with that. It isn't only that the hardware could not keep up with the graphics. It runs worse than Crysis 2, and even though I bought a decent graphics card about five years after it released I still could not run the game as well as I have would wanted.

Yeah, there's no denying Crysis is unoptimised. Many cited the tech as the reason the game was very demanding but as future GPU generations came and went the truth became abundantly clear.

While I don't doubt that the game is going to require beefy hardware to run properly, I have zero confidence in this rumor.

The fact that a random Russian site happens to have exclusive insight about the performance of a game, which is coming out in 2015, seems like bullshit.

Good thing is, you could easily deactivate it in the options.

That definitely helped things. In many places things still looked way overexposed (not sure what the word is I should use) though.

It is a very unflattering screenshot, The Witcher 2 looks great in many areas. But the screens and footage we have seen of The Witcher 3 also looks so much better.

Since they are Eastern European developers, I thought it made a bit more sense that a Russian site would have info about it, not that I trust the news.

What the hell is going on with some of these replies claiming CD are terrible devs and that they could barely put out a functioning Xbox One version? Is this meta trolling?

Pretty much, the character models are very detailed and the art direction is great. I was seriously impressed back when I played it. I just can't fanthom calling that game ulgy, what the hell.

All I did was search Witcher 2 Maxed

Considering how ugly the witcher 2 is I will skip this on both platforms. Have no respect for devs that are too lazy to optimize there games.

What the fuck is this shit? Seriously one of the worst posts I have read on GAF.

The witcher 2 has hideous sharpening hdr and bloom. Only 25%~ of steam users are at or above console level gpus, therefor game is unoptimized.Wow such shit post amirite?

But they aren't the source, as I wrote earlier. And it doesn't make more sense anyway. Why would it?

And all of those screens look a lot better. Sure, there are still a lot of better pictures to be taken of The Witcher 2, but it also shows that the screens of The Witcher 3 are definitely a big improvement.

Yeah, I noticed that, but if it was from a different Eastern European website it still made a bit of sense.
I figured that if someone there found something (if it was on a Facebook post because of the language barrier it likely was someone local), it would make some sense for that person to report it to a local website.

I hope it does look poor on consoles. PC should make no compromises just to run the game on consoles. Don't compromise. Target the highest end hardware possible, please. PC gaming suffered the last few years due to targeting old, near decade old consoles.

I am fully prepared to drop some good money on a couple of cards to dance with this game at a high, high resolution. =)

Don't you think you are contradicting yourself in the process of hoping that only your platform of choice is not compromised?

Who gives a shit what steam users have. CDProjektRed is not developing their games for people who refuse to upgrade past an 8800GT.

Frankly they don't give a shit about those users and neither do I.

That's why you don't run a company. A game that's minimum requirements is a 7850~ is unoptimized.

So we can have a situation where people on the development team of Watch Dogs don't know the FPS of the xbone version and it releases in weeks and another where sources can make assumptions about the FPS of a game that releases in nigh on a year?

Okay everyone, time for some rumors. Russian gaming website Gametech reported some interesting information about the current state of The Witcher 3. Now before continuing, let us remind you that you are about to read unconfirmed information that you should be taking with a grain of salt.

[snip]

As always, take what you just read with a grain of salt. CD Projekt RED may further optimize its title, meaning that the game may run better on the aforementioned platforms.

Everything we need to know then.

"Breaking News!; Unfinished PC game almost a year away from release, running well, not fully optimised."

It looks like it is not using dx12?

Looks like? From what little we know about DX12 it is supposed to better balance the workload between GPU and CPU. Might just reduce CPU bottlenecks like Mantle did. Haven't heard anything about graphical increases.

Besides that, it has only been announced for a very short time, so would not have been implemented yet, you can't tell anything about it looking at these numbers and according to Microsoft the first games that would utilize the tech would only appear in Holiday 2015, so the answer is no.
