Holy shit, been waiting a long time for a return to sci-fi Civ. I had just assumed that it was going to be Civ 6, but this seems amazing. In Firaxis we trust.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!

This looks like it could be the succesor to Alpha Centauri we've all been waiting for. Another interseting is the box art: PEGI 18 raiting. Looks like it might be just as dark as Alpha was. And out in the Fall?! Sweeeeeeeeeeet. Perfect thing to keep me busy until Persona 5 comes out.

OH GOD YES INTO MY VEINS
And this Autumn too? Nice.
It seems like they are basically giving us a new Alpha Centauri without using the brand name to avoid legal entanglements and issues.

Alpha Centauri is my all-time favorite PC game but I bought it via GOG last year and had a little trouble playing it nowadays to be honest. I really, really hope they keep the unit customization from it. That was so damn amazing.

I wonder if they can capture the style of Alpha Centauri. Part of what made the game so good were the various faction designs and the little blurbs that came with each tech. It really fleshed them out, and made them more than just statistics to choose from.

Hopefully it's deep enough. I know Firaxis usually has the whole development/design plan of "make the basic game simple enough for newcomers to be eased in, then make the expansions beefy" but I was appalled at Gods & King's menu-based mechanics and was only slightly assuaged by what they did with Brave New World.

I also think it's logical to assume that, by the 5th entry to a series, you'd have some people around who "get the idea," so to speak, of a 4X game, so you have to justify them upgrading from Civ4 to Civ5, or in this case Civ5 to CivBE. I dunno man. Color me skeptical, even though Firaxis/Microprose is/was one of my favorite companies.

You did? Been playing it for the first time since a few weeks, it is pretty solid. Only gripes are that hex based would be much better and a little more cartoon style on the graphics like Starcraft would make it a little easier on today's eyes.

plus the added brand recognition of Civilization - win/win!

too bad this didn't warrant a quick steam firesale on xcom complete -_-

MY ERECTION IS VISIBLE FROM SPACE.

Erection of the spaceship factory needed to expedite the construction of the spaceship components necessary for the science victory, naturally.

The ability to enslave(actually don't know about this lol) wiped out an entire sentient race civilization earns it PEGI 18.

Doubt it. EU4 literally has an "attack natives" button for easy genocide when colonizing and it's rated E or whatever. The primary objective in DEFCON is to deploy WMDs on as many civilian population centres as you can. Not rated 18. You'd have to have really graphic or disturbing imagery to earn that kind of rating me thinks. They might have some intense gore for battles with mind worms or something to get a rating like that.

Finally will give me a reason to delve back into a Civ game, i hope they have the systems from AC where you could make your own vehicles with different parts(i think i'm remembeing that correctly) that always brought something to it rather then spitting out the same old units

I'm very curious how space travel will work. It will probably be an instant transition between worlds, but maybe it will be something more...

amazing, I love SMAC but civ 5 did dumb down a lot of existing civ conventions for the sake of simplicity. Hopefully they strike a good balance between SMAC's complexity and Civ 5's superior UX
