At least this is the first time I have seen LEGO ads on GAF.

LEGO ads on GAF! BELIEVE
that your wallet will be empty

I feel very lucky that mine sells the whole set for MSRP. And no need to pay in advance. It's a no brainer :)

How does this work? And where are you located. Wonder if any LEGO stores in the USA do this.

It's a small shop in Paris (sorry). Just asked the guy to text me when has the Simpsons CMFs in stock and he puts 2 sets aside for me and a friend. I pay 16*MSRP per set and that's it. He already does that for the Lego movie series. The guy told me he spends 1 to 2 hours per week to feel the bags and label them, so you can walk into his store and just ask for any fig you want and get it for 2,50€. Sealed. No extra fee. It's awesome.

Put together the Cloud Cukoo Land Palace set and I like it...I think a bigger version would be pretty good and I'm quite fond of the lime green wall pieces, give me more of those please.

The solution is simple, buy 2 or more of the same set! :)

Speaking of multiple sets. This MOC requires at least 8 of the same Mixel set. Man, I would love to be able to buy 8 of each Mixel for parts. :)

Went to the toyshop today. They're still running their sale. Most of 2012 LotR was there + Goblin King, as well as Silver Mine and Quinjet. I wanted to get some more LotR but I don't feel like buying just to speculate. It will probably become more expensive at some point but I don't see a spare Helm's Deep or Weathertop being worth the hassle. I already got a Moria that I'll probably build at some point.

Prices are very good compared to standard retail, but standard retail is still about twice the US prices, so even with clearance sales here I can't reach the lowest BL prices.

Could not contain myself and got 8078 Portal of Atlantis - my last set in that theme!
Got one more old set on the way but that's it!

So THATS why you cant find Mixels on store shelves.

Related im preordering/buying each new wave as soon as i see them. Mixel hype is crazy.

I can't speak for LEGO retail (haven't been inside one in a month or so), but I find them at every Target I've been inside for the last few weeks. Same for TRU actually, though the boxes there look a little more picked over.

Friends animals are harder to find, at least in my area. I already have series 1 - 4 though, lucked out and found a fresh box in TRU a while back. I've been back a few times and haven't seen them restock. Wiped clean.

But then... my local TRU is notoriously bad at stocking polybags... there's a few of the really ugly ones that haven't sold for like a year (I'm looking at you, ugly 30186 christmas tree and a few others just like you)... and I never see anything else, can't figure out why.

Haven't posted in this thread in ages mostly because I haven't bought a Lego set in a long time.

Saw that it's double VIP points on the site but it runs out today. Any recommended sets. Was thinking of getting Cloud Cuckoo Palace and the Emerald Express.

There's a lot of good Creator sets if you like the Emerald Express. I personally like the animal sets. You should check out Furry Creatures, Forest Animals, Fierce Flyer or the Easter Bunny set.

I recommend Cloud Cuckoo Palace but it's always sold out everywhere. That and the Melting Room are scarce.

Might have to do with city. I live in Jax. I can never find polybags, hot items like Mixels, CmF or Lego movie sets and store clearance sales rarely have anything around me. Had same issues when i was collecting Transformers. Always have to get my stuff online.

PSA, Amazon must be price matching someone. Most of the new Lego sets are on sale. Hulk Lab Smash for $41.

Have a like new Joker Steamroller in my cart for $40. Just made an order at Lego S@H, thinking I can hold of on both these sets. Have a feeling they will be cheaper or at least on sale again. I really don't want to spend more then $35 for that Hulk set since its just for the figs.

I just took the plunge on my first modular building - the Grand Emporium. Is this the start of a slippery slope for me, LegoGAF?

Thanks for the advice. Decided to get three of the Express so I can have some carriages to go with the train. Since I need about £17 for free shipping I went with the Ice Cream Machine from the Movie range as it has colours I don't have and I don't think I've seen a Lego ice cream van before.

I have about £35 in VIP I notice so I think I may buy the Sopwith Camel in the future.

I did the same today. In a pinch you can always sell for what you paid (or more), but I can't foresee doing that.

Indeed, but I'm almost certain I'll be keeping my sets for a long long time. I actually think the modular buildings are a good way to focus this new Lego hobby of mine. Otherwise I think I'd be buying bits and pieces from all different themes in a bit of a haphazard way.

I've also decided not to get hung up on the sets I've missed (e.g. Fire Brigade) and just to act as if everything available on Day One of this hobby is all there is to choose from.

I got the Monster Fighters haunted house which isn't technically even part of the modular line and in already gnashing at the bit for my next big set.

Next month is Sandcrawler, June will be Emporium.

Just imagine yourself at a cliff. Every little set you buy is pushing you closer to the edge, but as soon as you post on LEGO GAF they will push you off before you realize anything is wrong.

You've just spent a fortune, you just don't know it yet.

I once said I wouldn't even start buying modulars, I've got four now.

Found a totally empty Simpson's figure box at a local Wal-Mart. I'd like to believe otherwise, but I'm sure the entire thing was sold to one person.

Does anyone know of a way to get a box of Simpson's minifies in NA? If so, does anyone want to go half-n-half? I can purchase as soon as a box is available (if it's available). I cannot seem to find a place to order one tho.

Shoot me a PM if interested.

Happy birthday to me!

I'm very pleased to learn that Mark Stafford is doing the re-design of the suit (since the original had illegal connections and other issues). He's been the designer of some of the most memorable official mechs coming from LEGO in recent years, as well as the primary designer on Alien Conquest. I'm hoping that they really go deep with the Classic Space tie-in.

meh. I ordered a full set of ebay for $110. I don't have the time nor desire to feel up bags at this point. I'm still open to going in on a box if someone ends up finding a good place to order from.

Stafford is in? Damn. Bessa and Stafford redesigned CUUSOO stuff in summer? Now we just need Jamie Berard to have a hand in one for the hat trick.

i'd love to split a box with someone (at near MSRP + shipping), but there don't seem to be any reliable ways to just straight up order an unopened box without markup... :/

Almost wondering if I should buy the Super Star Destroyer since it's considered retired (coming from the Brick Show). I wasn't going to buy (lack of room to display it), but I wonder if the resale on these would go through the roof or not. It's not a set I'd ever pay 800 for, if they did wind up costing that much.

This is part of the new Iron Builder competition that started a few days ago. Most impressively, this MOC was designed and built in 10 minutes when they first found out what part they'd be using. Over the next month, expect to see a lot of great MOCs using the yellow slope curved piece in that Mixel set:

Looks like the CUUSOO Exo-Suit is releasing in August.

I'm strangely drawn to this for some reason.

Well I lucked out last week. I was looking at the street modular fire brigade at the start of the year and it was around £180-£200 but I stupidly decided to leave it. I hate having half a collection and after buying 3 other Street modular I decided I really need. I went back to eBay but the price has shot up to around £230. Cursing my luck (and my own stupidity) I decided to leave it as above £200 was that mental barrier of me saying what an earth are you doing spending this much!

So I was a bit down and searching on Blicklink for some super hero minifigs when I thought I'd see what price the fire brigade was going for on there. I really was expecting to see prices of £250 and above as sets always seem to go for higher prices on there. But my luck was in as I saw a UK seller selling it for £160. I thought there must be something up with this but it was brand new in box. With postage it came to £173 and I really couldn't be happier. It's just arrived today. Even though I have the 3 proceeding sets I want this to be the first one I built, as I'll then go through them in chronological order.

I haven't bought the the palace cinema and the parisian restaurant yet but I will in the next year. So I'll only be missing the cafe corner, market Street and the Green grocers. The only one I'm sad I'll never get is the green grocer as I really love the look of that one. I may buy the parts separately in years to come though.
